Service was terrific, wine list outstanding, however the food lacked character and was surprisingly pedestrian for a restaurant where people are not looking for value. If you are looking for Niagara on the Lake ambience and the most convenient location in town, then Escabeche is definately the place for you. However, you will need to search further for the best food in town.

After a long drive to Niagara-on-the-Lake from Ohio, and a few hours of shopping, Escabeche was just what we needed. Quiet, elegant, welcoming and a wonderful lunch. The service was great. The menu had something for all of us, and the food quality was excellent. Sitting in the dining room, we could see the beautiful flowers outside of the hotel through the large windows. Couldn't ask for better ambiance. I highly recommend it.

We had an excellent meal at Escabeche on our initial visit. The dining room is spacious and beautiful with an upscale, genteel vibe. The food was tasty and nicely presented, from amuse bouche right on through dessert. The wine list is extensive and quite complete. Service was professional, albeit a tad slow, but not to a point where it was an issue. We only get up in this area once a year for the Shaw Festival plays, but you can bet this will be a must stop on our next trip.

Great service but no surprise for brunch even though it is a good price at $22 per person. Selection for the Sunday brunch is the same as most high end hotels. With high expectation when we went try it out but nothing really special at all. I will suggest to try out their regular lunch or dinner menu.

We were looking for a place to have a special dinner and hoped Escabeche would deliver. We were both very satisfied with the food, presentation was great and the food very good - not outstanding - but we weren't disappointed. What blew us away was the service. Our waitress, Kerri, was outstanding. Very attentive to our needs and very knowledgable. She took time to explain everything to us and began the evening by asking us questions just to find out more about us. Very impresive.

The Escabeche Restaurant in the Prince of Wales Hotel was an amazing experience. The ambience, food and service gel together. Their caesar salad was excellent. The dressing was light and flavourful. The crab chowder was an excellent starter. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Our bill was just under $200.00 for two. This is a very good choice for a special occasion.

Early for our 5 pm reservation so went to the bar for aperitif. Personable staff person needed reminding to bring both water previously requested (glass arrived unpleasantly wet) and lime twists for single malt. Staff throughout dining and bar experience were quite lovely and casual. Generally pleasant experience without sophistication or elegance.

We were very disappointed in the Sunday brunch. We lived in NOTL in themid-1980s and remembered how good the brunch was at the Prince of Wales. This just didn't compare. The buffet was almost empty when we got up to get our food and it took a while to re-stock. The eggs Benedict were hard and the English muffin wasn't even toasted. Definitely not what we remembered!

What a gem of a restaurant! We each tried the 5 course with wine pairing. What a fantastic meal! We had the red pepper soup - arctic char - both excellent! And Brad was an excellent waiter - knowledgeable, respectful, professional and yet quite humourous. It was a treat to eat at this beautiful restaurant where we were able to take our time and enjoy both the meal, the wine, and the waiter's impeccable service! We will definitely return here!

The best restaurant we have tasted in Ontario so far. The dinning room is elegant, almost intimate. The service is attentive, professional. Food is artfully presented. My gf''s Caesar with Prosciutto was fresh, lightly creamed. Her beef tenderloin was done exactly the way she expressed in many words. The tasting menu with wine pairing I had did show off their excellent culinary and wine pairing skills. I enjoyed the whole experience except the salt cured organic salmon with so much salt as to hide all taste of the salmon. Among the good selection of wines only the 2010 Bourgogne Pinot Noir disappointed. My one complain is the dainty size of wine servings. It's inadequate for food pairing, certainly not nearly enough for my lamb course.

Beautiful setting for Mother's Day. They made us feel as if it were a very special day. The table settings were beautiful and the table spacing was perfect. The staff were friendly and inviting and very professional. The buffet had a wide variety of choices expecially for the little ones. Unfortuately when one went up to get an item, the food was not replenshied quickly and the labelling of the items were inadequate. All in all, a very lovely brunch with my mother

Had Sunday brunch in almost empty restaurant. Food was OK, nothing special. Service was very slow. Quite a disappointment after an outstanding experience at Zee's for dinner the night before. What a great restaurant! We arrived early knowing we had a bit of a drive to get home but that was no problem - we were seated right away! We were there for Fabulicious - a popular destination for this event - we had wanted dinner and 3 weeks before they were filled so had gone for an early dinner! Caesar salad and prawn broth were excellent. Steaks and sea scallops were cooked to perfection. A type of chocolate cake and creme caramel were also very good. Good choice of wine - even by the glass! Our waiter, Dan, was friendly, there when we needed him, but not hovering - a perfect dinner - we'll definitely go again - Fabulicious next year, if not before! They also were great at accommodating a gluten-free diet for one of our party of 4!
