Ernie's atmosphere and decor is perfect for an elegant evening of fine dining. The staff's attention to each patron is outstanding. Both my husband and I had a steak selection and they were cooked perfectly and practically cut themselves they were so tender. The sides were tasty as well. We shared the endive salad and the portions were very generous. Yummy were my thoughts throughout the evening. And the wine list is to die for!! Some very hard to find bottles are there. So support our local boutique restaurants- you won't be disappointed.
My only fault with this expirence was that I didn't save room so I could try one of the yummy dessert selections!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth the trip!It's about 35 min for us to get to Ernie's, but the food and service made it most worthwhile. From the very pleasant hostess to a visit from the chef, we felt most welcome. The menu offers good variety, We had salads and then the scallops w/ risotto and the pork chop w/ apple-currant chutney. All dishes were prepared and presented well, although I like a more traditional caesar salad.
The wine list emphasizes Cabernet, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir but has a good selection of alternatives. We had Archery Summit Pinot with our meal. The prices are reasonable and there's a nice by-the-glass selection.

Once seated we were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable waitress. Between the three of us we had Chicken, Rib Eye Steak and the Salmon. It was no problem when my friend said she did not like zucchini, our waitress was quick to suggest several alternatives which worked out wonderfully. The food did not disappoint. Beautifully presented, excellent. Ernie's is a real gem in Manteca. We will returning soon and often. Waited over 30 minutes past our 7:45 reservation time to be seated. Bar service was slow while we waited. Bartender had to leave a couple of times to get things from the stockroom. No specials for the evening and were out of what I ordered. Server had to come back to get a second choice from me. Once we did order, everything went smoothly. Food was very good. Chef came out after to introduce himself and talk to his patrons.
