A word from Erie Grill
A three-month renovation has expanded the original restaurant layout to create a new open floor plan that seamlessly transitions the restaurant from day to night.

Following lunch, the restaurant transitions itself into a lounge-like dining and drinking atmosphere by revealing liquor selections behind the bar, showcasing a vast wine selection, and softening lighting for the evening hours.

The menu offers a variety of crave-able Contemporary American cuisine that encompasses both coursed meals and smaller plates to share at a range of price points. Executive Chef John Freezee and Sous Chef Doug Dake imaginatively utilize seasonal ingredients to present the finest in regional cuisine.

Diner Reviews
  • "...And we'll be sure to return. The ambiance and décor of the dining room is excellent, and our server, as well as the remainder of the staff, were all attentive and cordial. The food selection is very good, and the quality of our dinner was very tasty."

  • "I really liked Erie Grill. The first time I looked at the website it wasn't to attractive and even considering the fact that is a Restaurant amended to a Hotel it's natural to question... Now that I went, I strongly recommend! Comparing to some other upscale restaurants in the Rochester area this was the one which gave us an overall satisfaction from the smallest detail in the service to the yummy taste of the food. Best part is that for being an upscale restaurant has a very fare price. Great place to celebrate special occasions."

  • "We really enjoyed our first experience dining at the Erie Grill. The food was wonderful, from the warm bread to the creative cioppino, lamb pizza and Caesar salad. We were seated in the bar area, which was noisy, and next time would ask to be seated in the dining room. We celebrated a birthday, but were too full for the dessert that was offered. Our waitress surprised us by removing a glass of wine from our bill. All in all, it was a nice experience and we would return."

  • "First time here for dinner. Small, elegant dining area. Husband's martini was great. Waitress suggested a dry red wine I had never had. It too was delicious. Hot bread and soft butter on table. Husband had Strip Steak cooked to perfection served with roasted tomatoes and small potatoes. He said it was one of the best steaks he had ever had. I opted for seared scallops over a crispy rice cake with kale on top in a mildly spicy ponzu sauce. Delicious and beautifully presented. Caesar salad was fresh with homemade croutons. For dessert we had homemade hot apple pie with locally made Pittsford Dairy ice cream. A great ending to a great meal. Service was outstanding. During the day, you can look out and see the Erie Canal. Highly recommend."

  • "Our second dinner at the Erie Grill was the day before Valentine's Day and there was a sparse crowd on a snowy evening. We appreciated the choice between small and large meals. My filet mignon was superb, larger than I ordered or expected, with delicious veggies. My wife's octopus salad and separate asparagus was tasty. We enjoyed ourselves also with discounted cocktails before 7 PM. Overall, two fine meals and a reason to return many times."

  • "The bar area seemed to be much less stuffy. Tables are very close together with not much privacy. Food was good."

  • "Homemade potato chips were the best thing we had. Entrees (pork shank and meatloaf) were ok, but not very interesting. I see no particular reason to go back."

  • "The food at Erie has always been what ha attracted me and this time did not dissapoint. We shared a beet salad and each had one of the fish on the menu. The salmon and the grouper were both beautifully presented and cooked just right. The Pittsford dairy ice cream completed the meal. Service was attentive and we ended up spending close to four hours dining and talking in the quiet atmosphere. One of Rochester's reliable for a great meal and service."

  • "Great experience. Had a lunch meeting here and we will be going back for our next meeting as well. Loved the Octopus Salad! such a great menu and great time. Wonderful menu choices."

  • "My husband and I stayed at the Del Monte Lodge for our anniversary, and had dinner at the Erie Grill as part of the evening. The service was great. The bartender, our waitress and the hostess were so friendly and accommodating! Would highly recommend, food was excellent as well."

  • "Besides the wonderful salad, entrée and dessert, I was charmed and delighted when I received my tea order. They didn't use a tea bag; they had fresh, loose-leaf tea in a loose paper diffuser, and it came with a tag that held it via the pot handle so that it didn't drip. The label even had steeping instructions, resulting in the best tea I've ever had in a restaurant. Tea drinkers are often left out in the cold by restaurants, who usually cater to coffee drinkers with expresso, cappuccino and such. It goes without saying that the hot water had NOT been heated or stored in something that had previously held coffee (which results in coffee-flavored water--yick). A nice surprise."

  • "This was our first time here for a meal, and we were not disappointed! Everything from the cocktails, salads, meals, desserts, and exceptional service, made our New Year's celebration wonderful. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Food was pretty good, however the service was poor. We waited at our table for at least 10-15 minutes before anyone came to greet us/take a drink order. The waiter was friendly enough but did not check back to the table frequently. The staff who refilled waters were extremely rude and never said a word when thanked and seemed particularly snobby. Would probably not return unless for a drink at the bar."

  • "Our server Lorin was one of the most attentive servers we have ever had , which overrides any shortcomings the restaurant has. Where we were sitting every time the door opened cold air rushed in directly on our table The quality of the meal was superb although we miss several items from the old menu We will still return to dine but perhaps it's not quite as special As it once was."

  • "Ambience is nice and the servers were attentive but the food was just mediocre, Honestly if the food is not wonderful then I am probably not going back. Three of the appetizers we ordered were just not that good and my son is a vegetarian and there was not anything on the menu for him to eat with out modifying except their basic house salad. He ate a lamb pizza with no lamb! This restaurant needs to have at least something vegetarian! They had 2 soups -- both with meat. Probably not going back."

  • "The Erie Grill provides a gracious dining experience. This was my first visit there since their renovations of menu and the dining space. The food was delicious and the menu was sufficiently varied to provide for a variety of food preferences."

  • "A nice place for brunch overlooking the Erie Canal on a snowy Rochester morning. Attentive, professional wait staff and excellent food. Water and coffee were kept full the whole time."

  • "The menu is inventive and definitely worth a visit. The wine event we attended was well planned, informative, fun and we were able to order the featured wine dinner. Great evening."

  • "The bar takes up 3/4 of the area. Noisy. My rabbit sausage was very flavorful but sparse on the amount of sausage . . . maybe one link's worth. Very tempted to make a comment to the waitress but didn't want to upset the group. I would go to another place before coming back here."

  • "The food was delicious, service provided by our waitress was horrible. She had an attitude, waited to long for her to bring dessert and then after having to complain, she came with it and said so sorry it took so long but we have to be sure that the pie is heated all the way through so it's nice and warm. So I touched the pie and it wasn't warm at all, she lied. The tables are too close together and the waitress could barely fit in between to lay down our hot dishes. Other than the pie incident and the tables being too close together in the shared booth area, I would go back, ask for different waitress, as that the table next to me not be filled with another customer unless absolutely necessary for space..and never ever order the Apple pie"

  • "We had a great dinner and loved our waitress, Christine/Kristin. She acted like nothing was too much to ask for. The food was delicious and I really loved the octopus salad, something I would've never thought to order. Delicious. Prices are high enough that it's good if you're only taking the two of you."

  • "We stayed overnight at the Delmonte Lodge and made 6:15PM reservations 2 weeks in advance. For cocktails my wife enjoyed her red wine. My Southern Comfort Manhattan was "unlike any other SMC I have ever had". I should have returned it. The bartender must have misheard me. We were given a narrow table for 2 (no linens) fitted tight against a wall which cut down on the available space for arm movement. Why? The room was lightly filled and never did full up the entire 2 hours we were there. The service was very friendly and attentive. My filet mignon was cooked rare as requested. The wife's salmon was also good. My coffee was regularly refilled. Dessert was excellent. I would return if staying at the Lodge and preferred to eat in house."

  • "We went to the Erie Grill for our anniversary on a Wednesday evening. We were seated at a table for two which was a foot away from tables on either side. No privacy at all. Service was just OK. When my glass of wine arrived, I almost sent it back. It was a $10 glass of wine and there could not be more than 3 oz in the glass. The food was good, but it was overall a less than enjoyable experience."

  • "Been here many times, but this is the first since the recent renovations. They seem successful with a larger bar area and dining nearby with a nice view of the Erie Canal, but the acoustics have gotten worse. Granted there was a large group celebrating a birthday, but the lack of proper noise canceling materials accentuated the noise. All that said, the meal was wonderful as was the service. Breakfast the next morning was calm and quiet."
