the green chili soup was absolutely to die for. Wonderful taste, not overpowering, filled with chicken and corn. Excellent. The ahi tuna was also excellent as was the pork chop. The Hanger steak was a disappointment.

It was very nice. The table was nice, quarter circle type of booth. The hanging light above the table was a bit bright and annoying. We were facing the window, although we were close enough to keep seeing all of the staff return in and out of the kitchen area. Not the most romantic table in the restaurant. Now for the food. We had the ribeye special which was very tasty with a red onion blend on top. The garlic mashed potatoes were great, but I wish there was just a bit more. I really wanted a house salad, although I don't think any house salad is worthy of $9.00.

We were very pleased with this find! The food was fantastic, they noted our occasion, the serving sizes were more than ample, and the house wine was fabulous! The setting was nice and service was excellent!

We were on our way to a concert at Wells Fargo Center and our waiter did a marvelous job of taking care of us in a timely way, and with such friendliness and expertise. We really appreciated him so much! The wine list was disappointing in that it didn't have more representation of our own local Sonoma County wines. Our meals were fine but not remarkable.

The wait staff was attentive, decor was lovely. Didn't look at the wine list because we brought our own and paid corkage. Had a decent fixed price menu (3 courses for $25). Although we noted that we were celebrating a birthday there was no recognition of such during our experience. Hmmm

Everything was okay but not great. I thought the pricing was too expensive for lunch. The crabcakes were very small - you get 3 tiny ones for $13. The skirt steak came with plain roasted potatoes and sauteed spinach for $19. All desserts were $8. Iced Tea was $4.25. Coffee was a reasonable $2.25. My lunch cost $46.50! And that's before tax and tip! I wouldn't have minded if the food was great ... it was decent but not memorable. I don't have an urgent desire to return.

All four of us tried something different and were delighted with all of our choices. The seared scallops in a light curry sauce were over the top. Probably the best scallops I've had.

We had eight guests. The service was excellent. Everyone received attention and all the staff supported each other in seeing to my guests. Waiter was cordial and engagfing without being intrusive or stand officsh. I would recommend the restaurnt now in a way I did not in its previous incarnation.

Equis was recently Remodeled and we found it to be very attractive with a Diner oriented ambiance that is soft and quiet. The food is always very good and sometimes boarders on the outstanding. Dinner for two, including drinks and a bottle of decent wine, runs about $150.oo including tip. Highly recommended.

Rather disappointed in that when making reservations we were not notified that the cocktail lounge was closed and no before dinner cocktails were offered. Also, knowing that we could count on wonderful food here, was rather surprised that the short ribs were so overdone, they were basically beef jerky. All other food was up to par and the service was very good.

In fairness to Equis, they were getting ready for a big remodeling project which was to begin the next day. There was only one server who must have been helping out in the bar because she disappeared periodically leaving us and the one other table on our own. However, once you order the "buffet" it is pretty much up to you anyway, so her absence was not a huge problem except when we wanted the check and had to wait longer than we would have liked. We were disappointed because we were there to celebrate our daughter's birthday and it was far from a "party" atmosphere. We will go again after they finish the remodeling and I expect the experience will improve.

    Dined on 3/23/2008
Our Easter Sunday Brunch was wonderful at the Equus Restaurant. We enjoyed the piano which gave a great background noise. There was a variety of choices at the brunch. It was an additional $9.00 per glass of champaign on top of the $29.95 charge for the brunch. I would think for the price of $29.95, at least one glass of champaign would be offered. Otherwise, it was a great Easter Brunch.
