Came here for a sunset dinner at the garden room. Started with the Papardelle pancetta and Razor Clam and Octopus for appetizers, pasta was excellent but the Razor Clam/ Octopus I thought was aggressively seasoned with salt, nevertheless both were quite inventive and beautifully presented. The monkfish chorizo for the main course was ok but the Grilled Washu Beef Sirloin was just plain ordinary. For $49.00, should have been more imagination on the dish. On top of that, a fly landed on my glass of Cakebread, not their fault but points for the waiter to offer a replacement. Staff needs more training (like pouring wine on glass and not spilling it and also when the wine glass is empty!)

View spectacular as well as outside dining. Hostesses lovely. Wait staff not that interested in bringing rolls to us (other table, yes, but we did not order a bottle of wine so...), refills on iced tea and other beverages. Food very good; prices very high. Would have been nicer to be treated better by wait staff and we were dressed far better than others there (but perhaps they were staying at the hotel.) Undecided about a return trip.

We dine all over Westchester County. No one suggests that men wear jackets. no other restaurant states that due to the dining experience, it discourages young children from eating there. So, having eaten at the finest restaurants in NY and Europe, I expected a unique experience for Westchester. I was really disappointed. the food was average, the service was ok. (they got my drink wrong TWICE) and the bill was $75/person. The Castle has a great garden and nice bar, but I would never again spend that kind of money at a place that thinks so highly of itself that it lists cancellation fees if you cancel within 48 hours. REALLY??? In Tarrytown and Irvington, there are tons of better restaurants with great food and elegant atmospheres.

The grounds and physical plant of this landmark castle restaurant are dramatic and romantic... The staff made us feel welcome and couldn't be more helpful... We sat on the patio for a good 90 minutes before dinner, chatting and sipping drinks. The staff took pictures as we strolled the grounds and enjoyed the atmosphere... We never felt hurried along... The food was delicious, a nice mix of seafood and land choices... Delicious appetizers and desserts as well... Jimmy was particularly helpful and gracious ...we had a memorable night for a special event! Thank you, Equus!

It was a relaxing romantic dinner with impeccable service. A bit pricey but for a special occasion, it is definitely worth it. The food portions are not large, so splitting an appetizer is out of the question. Same for entrees. Otherwise, it was all presented beautifully and delicious. I even got a surprise birthday dessert because my husband mentioned to the bartender that my birthday was the next day.

Our lunch on a very hot summer's day was both a visual as well as culinary treat! Pate and scallops and seasonal salad and lamb were prepared with care and very tasty. The Castle is an ideal setting for a special occasion. We were sorry that it was too hot for us to dine outdoors but would make an effort to pick a less humid day for that treat. The garden room, meanwhile, was just fine as a weather-protected alternative.

I was thinking of a place for dinner in lower Westchester with a good view to see 7/4 fireworks and have a fine meal. Equus was the very best choice to accomplish both objectives (viz. title of review). My wife and I both had the poached lobster with white asparagus..she began with a crab meat sculpture...and I had the pate Portions are small (no complaint as dishes are rich) ...prices are high..no complaint as the restaurant is elegant, the staff helpful...and the automobile valet knew how to drive a manual (stick) transmission. The erstwhile Axe Castle is I believe the highest point in the county..soaring above the Hudson River and the tops of fireworks that at 9:15 PM were visible and audible.

An overall pleasing experience. Food was excellent although the veal was not as well done as my companion liked. Monk fish was interesting but truthfully I like it grilled. Sliders and french fries for the child with us was excellent. Breads were very good as well. Desert order got a little mixed up but overall deserts were good. We would come back. Fun to eat in a castle

We loved dinner at Equus. The waiter was attentive and the food quality was excellent. I have some dietary restrictions (gluten and carrots), so they had to accommodate me a little more than I think they were used to, but they did a good job. I did find that they were not 'flexible' on some dishes to accommodate me so I only had a couple of choices overall, so I probably won't go as often as I would like, but they did have gluten free bread which was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was a great experience and we would recommend it to friends.

I have dined at Equus in the past and had wonderful experiences both at private parties and the regular ding room. This event was disappointing. I thought the set up by the pool was not presented well and bringing food from the kitchen to the pool area was OK for the cold items but not the hot. I also felt that the value was not there. The regular al la cart or priced fix offers a much finer experience. We would not go to one of these events again.

The food is very good and imaginative with excellent service. Everything was not perfect however because we sat on the patio for drinks before dinner inside and the service should have been more aggressive in offering hors d'oeuvres or something since we were there awhile. The warm cheesecake wasn't warm but overall it was an enjoyable visit.

My husband and i had been married at the Castle in 2009. This landmark is a beautiful and magical place to visit. It has now changed hands these past 2years and is even more beautiful and elegant then before. The food at Equus has definitely been upgraded in taste, presentation and decor, and the staff are impeccable. We were there this past Father's Day and cannot wait to go back. The, except for the kind and attentive bartender, the staff was arrogant. We were seated 1/2 late for a reservation with no apology and pretty much ignored. The food is salty and, except for the salt, not very flavorful. The crowd is tacky. Probably the worst place I've been to in my 5 years living in Westchester.

I was disappointed to find three pieces of shell/cartilage in my crab salad but the lobster entree made up for it. It was absolutely delicious! The staff was not as knowledgeable as they should have been about the ingredients of the dishes so they had to send over a more expert member of the staff. I wish our table was in the garden room. ...and who wouldn't, when dining in a Castle? The weather was perfect for our outdoor seating, and we quickly settled on our choices (beef and duck) from the menu. We had not been to Equus in several years, but we gave it a try for our anniversary last week. Everything was superb - the service was attentive, yet not intrusive. The meal had a leisurely pace we could enjoy, but we didn't feel any course was lagging. We sat in the Garden Room, so the view was just beautiful! And then there was the food... Oh my goodness! The chef sent out a chilled strawberry soup amuse, and we loved it. I had the warm tuna tartlet and my husband had the lobster (entree) to start and both were outstanding, although I won the round with the tuna! For entrees, I had the monkfish and chorizo, while my husband had the steak and we shared the saffron risotto, all of which were presented beautifully and tasted amazing.
