  • Not Often Do you Get to Dine in a Castle!

It is now often that one gets to dine in a castle. It was my birthday and my wife and I wanted to do something nice. The service was great, and the food was delicious. Prices are a bit high, but not more then your NY Upper West Side nice restaurant. Dishes were really nicely presented and very good and filling. There is only Valet parking which I found annoying. I left the car, and the guy literally just backed up into the disability spot there and left it. Overall I would recommend this place for a special occasion.

We thought it was a French Restaurant, as indicated on your site! No, no, it was a Japonese so we were disappointed. But then, once the room was heated and the food arrived, we were positively astonished. We will try a brunch to we can benefit from the view. Japonese food was delicate and fresh, creative. Very quite atmosphere, what we did appreciate too. A lot of well educated young couples, no kids running everywhere.

I cannot say enough about this gem of a restaurant. I went with my husband, best friend, and parents. The 3 of us "younger gen" people did the tasting menu, each getting a different one so we could split, and I was blown away by the array of flavors, ingredients and creative ideas. The cocktails were also lovely, the wine list was extensive, and the service was superb - they answered any questions and were accommodating when I had to send back a drink. The ambience was lovely and the view was exquisite. Worth the price! Also, don't miss the life-sized chess board...

We arrived for an early dinner and had the dining room to ourselves for much of the duration of our dinner. The wait staff were attentive and courteous, they even remembered the occasion was for my husband's birthday and provided a beautiful little cookie cake with a candle. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Personally, I think the portions were perfect; no need for oversized portions you can't finish and have to take home. We were finishing up our dinner when a couple of families with children came in. We suddenly felt overdressed despite the attire suggested on the website. We were leaving as the dining room began to fill up, so we were glad to have come early for a quiet, romantic dinner. We will come back!

The service was adequate. I would say poor, but that refers only to our particular waiter. I made eye contact with him, trying to get his attention twice to let him know that the draft at our table was freezing but he blatantly ignored me both times. The first time he was standing with two other waiters and just continued talking. The second he left the room and pretended it never happened when he came over later. We were able to get someone else's attention and they quickly took care of it (the staff was setting up a wedding outside and left a door open). The food was quite disappointing-basically bland and flavorless. We certainly will not be returning.

I do not know where to begin... We were accosted by a valet as we entered the restaurant for not using his service, experience a restroom that was very dirty and no paper towels, we were promised a lovely evening when we booked for our 10th anniversary but seated in a bright room with a loud party of 10 instead of one of the more romantic dining areas, we did not seeing our waiter throughout our entire meal and waited over 30 minutes to get and pay for our $215.00 check! A night to remember. Turned our special occasion into a nightmare! Save your money and go someplace else!

We went to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We had been there twice before years ago. We were extremely disappointed. It used to be a very elegant place and people dressed well. Now some of the people were dressed super casual, not business casual. While the web site suggests it is not a restaurant for children, there were two families with small children who really shouldn't have been there. I would not view this as a special occasion restaurant any more. Service had also slipped. No one clear dirty tables when the diners left. The tables should have been cleared and reset. We both had the 5-course "tasting" menu. The sea scallops were excellent. Everything else was good but not special and not worth the amount charged.

We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Overall we were left a bit wanting in terms of the food and especially the service. The wait staff was not up to par. The waiter was not friendly, attentive and also needed to be reminded to clean the table after the dishes were cleared. We ordered the branzino which although was good it was anything exceptional. On the whole we felt we could have gone elsewhere and had a better experience and a warmer welcome to celebrate a special event.

Excellent food, great service. Equus easily a top 3 restaurant in Westchester, and significantly better than others that rely on "star chef" fame recognition of which highlighted "star chef" probably doesn't even know where their own restaurant is. Part of me hopes Equus doesn't become popular so my family can continue enjoying it in peace.

Came here for a sunset dinner at the garden room. Started with the Papardelle pancetta and Razor Clam and Octopus for appetizers, pasta was excellent but the Razor Clam/ Octopus I thought was aggressively seasoned with salt, nevertheless both were quite inventive and beautifully presented. The monkfish chorizo for the main course was ok but the Grilled Washu Beef Sirloin was just plain ordinary. For $49.00, should have been more imagination on the dish. On top of that, a fly landed on my glass of Cakebread, not their fault but points for the waiter to offer a replacement. Staff needs more training (like pouring wine on glass and not spilling it and also when the wine glass is empty!)

View spectacular as well as outside dining. Hostesses lovely. Wait staff not that interested in bringing rolls to us (other table, yes, but we did not order a bottle of wine so...), refills on iced tea and other beverages. Food very good; prices very high. Would have been nicer to be treated better by wait staff and we were dressed far better than others there (but perhaps they were staying at the hotel.) Undecided about a return trip.

We dine all over Westchester County. No one suggests that men wear jackets. no other restaurant states that due to the dining experience, it discourages young children from eating there. So, having eaten at the finest restaurants in NY and Europe, I expected a unique experience for Westchester. I was really disappointed. the food was average, the service was ok. (they got my drink wrong TWICE) and the bill was $75/person. The Castle has a great garden and nice bar, but I would never again spend that kind of money at a place that thinks so highly of itself that it lists cancellation fees if you cancel within 48 hours. REALLY??? In Tarrytown and Irvington, there are tons of better restaurants with great food and elegant atmospheres.

The grounds and physical plant of this landmark castle restaurant are dramatic and romantic... The staff made us feel welcome and couldn't be more helpful... We sat on the patio for a good 90 minutes before dinner, chatting and sipping drinks. The staff took pictures as we strolled the grounds and enjoyed the atmosphere... We never felt hurried along... The food was delicious, a nice mix of seafood and land choices... Delicious appetizers and desserts as well... Jimmy was particularly helpful and gracious ...we had a memorable night for a special event! Thank you, Equus!

It was a relaxing romantic dinner with impeccable service. A bit pricey but for a special occasion, it is definitely worth it. The food portions are not large, so splitting an appetizer is out of the question. Same for entrees. Otherwise, it was all presented beautifully and delicious. I even got a surprise birthday dessert because my husband mentioned to the bartender that my birthday was the next day.

Our lunch on a very hot summer's day was both a visual as well as culinary treat! Pate and scallops and seasonal salad and lamb were prepared with care and very tasty. The Castle is an ideal setting for a special occasion. We were sorry that it was too hot for us to dine outdoors but would make an effort to pick a less humid day for that treat. The garden room, meanwhile, was just fine as a weather-protected alternative.
