Diner Reviews
  • "I enjoyed the unique combinations of ingredients used."

  • "Notable Chef creativity, nice arrangements, sizes of courses not too big (so you are receiving a starter that allows you a main course) Beef does not reach the quality of the overall experience (should be aged longer) very reasonable pricing for its target. Waiter could have been trained better but overall nice and friendly."

  • "The food is terrific! Very fresh ingredients and simply prepared. The staff is friendly and eager to please. This is a well needed addition to the Tuscaloosa food scene. We'll be back!"

  • "I had the short rib. It was very tender and quite tasty. Collards had spices on them that gave them a totally different taste. Also, had sweet potato dumplings. They were really good! I will definitely be back to try more!"

  • "The freshness of the food, the quality in the handcrafted cocktails, and the attention to detail in each aspect of the dinning experience really left an impression on us. I just stuck to the specials and the most recommended and was thoroughly pleased! We plan to come back soon!"

  • "I had a great time. I do think the pricing was quite expensive for the city. I do understand had it was Valentine's but $230 (inclusive of tip) for 2 was entirely too much. I'm not certain if I will return"

  • "Great service, amazing food, and a very nice atmosphere. However, I do not plan to go back for some time due the the hit my wallet took. It is a great place, but one best saved for special occasions. With the right timing (in my case, a Valentine's date) it is definitely worth it!"

  • "With its farm-to-fork cuisine, Epiphany Cafe offers one of the most unique menus anywhere in North America - superbly selected and superbly prepared. Mix in its wonderful location in Tuscaloosa's rebounding classic downtown and it makes for a perfect night out."

  • "Nice atmosphere and service quite good. From there not so good to very overpriced small portion meals, limited menu and my meal way over spiced rice to point of not eating with my flat iron steak to not teenager friendly , 17 on college visit, with small portions having to make a Burger King stop for him on way back to hotel. One has to laugh and note try another place next time."

  • "My husband and I went to enjoy a date night. Extremely helpful wait staff, delicious food, and extensive spirits selection. An experience like never before. It was our first time to enjoy Epiphany Cafe, and we would definately recommend this place to friends and family."

  • "First time visit. Took spouse for anniversary dinner and will definitely go back. There are so many interesting choices on the menu that we would like to try. A place to order several different plates to share. Can't wait to go back."

  • "The only place in Tuscaloosa that serves dinner after. 9:45PM. Great service"
    Dined on 11/8/2013
  • "Epiphany is a smaller restaurant with an active owner/chef. The menu is shorter, but varied. The menu is not fixed and has different entrees and sides and small plates. Every visit will be a different combination or preparation. A young, but seemingly well trained staff."

  • "My wife and I went to Epiphany for our anniversary last Saturday. We sat at the chef's counter and let Chef Tres select dishes for us. Everything we tasted was delicious! My wife and I agreed that we haven't had so much fun eating out in ages! The food was truly remarkable, and Tres Jackson was low-keyed and charming. We loved it. We plan to return soon."

  • "This was a perfect place to bring our job candidate-- very quiet for talking and good vegetarian offerings!"

  • "We had a great time. The service was great, from meal recommendations to bringing us a small taste of a wine we weren't sure about and the local ingredients made for interesting options on the menu. The price is competitive for the type of restaurant. If we we lived in Tuscaloosa, we would be regulars there."

  • "Stopped by on a rainy night enroute to Birmingham. Very light crowd, but great service and friendly, attentive staff. Food was very tasty, a bit different from the ordinary. Would definitely return when in the area."

  • "The food is farm to table and you can really taste the freshness ingredients. Our group shared the sweet potato and mushroom polenta small plates. For our entrees we ordered the the corn lasagna and the batter fried catfish. We gave all our choices 4 or 5 stars. Wine selection is extensive - but would have liked a couple of more choices by the glass. The atmosphere was urban pub style. The narrow entry skirts a long wooden bar and the dining room opens up in the back. Exposed brick and wood make the place feel warm and inviting. We could have stayed for hours just talking and enjoying fine wine. We will definitely return to Epiphany."

  • "I saw Ephinany Cafe mentioned in Southern Living magazine, and was surprised to see a restaurant like this in a college town. I hadnt been to Tuscaloosa in a long time, and the restaurant scene has really improved. The place had a cool vibe and a very interesting, current menu. Shared some small plates with a friend, and most of our selections were very good! I would go back and I would reccomend to friends. It's a bit pricey for the college kids though."

  • "We tried 5 different apps ....they were all very good. Then we had 4 different main dishes and they were all very tasty all. It was a great experience."

  • "They accepted NO substitutions---and if you are trying to watch your calorie intake, it is ridiculously difficult. It is all very fresh food, but the portions are TINY and they are loaded with heavy sauces and a million calories. Not a great experience for me! We were also seated RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR, and it was a cold night so we were freezing for most of the meal."

  • "Excellent food!!!!!! A must if you are visiting or live in the area!"
    Dined on 10/18/2013
  • "The menu is touted as being "eclectic" and it lived up to it's claim. We loved the interesting combination of favors using locally grown produce and meats (plus seafood that is environmentally sensitive): fried brussell sprouts, cauliflower soufflé, salmon, scallops, short-ribs, eggplant meatballs - all delicious! Service was a bit spotty, but came with a great southern accent and a smile. The wine list was good as well, although the mixed drinks were below par according to the guys in our group. Also, I'd skip the "bread service" next time."

  • "The food is phenomenally well-prepared. However, the portions are way too small. The entrees are more like appetizers in size. One is just beginning to enjoy the entree and suddenly it is gone... We are not food addicts, we are normal eaters who rarely go to buffets. Couldn't they give us just a bit more?"
    Dined on 10/11/2013
  • "The menu was interesting, and we enjoyed our appetizers and the dessert we ordered. The entrees were a little disappointing, though. They were smaller than the small plates, and they were woefully under seasoned. We'll give them another try if we are in the area, though, and hope it was a fluke."

  • "Great food, wine, and service. We had a late reservation but didn't feel rushed, and our waitress was friendly and cute as a button. Best restaurant in Tuscaloosa without a doubt."

  • "Was in Tuscaloosa to visit son at UA and had to make our trip over to visit Epiphany for great food and wine! Katie was our server, she is awesome! We will be back there again in a few weeks for more delicious food."

  • "Since Kozy's closed. I would rate Epiphany the best in T-town. I could have given 5 stars, but you can up the quality by driving to Birmingham. The wine list is short but has good selections in reasonable price ranges. On our last visit we all had seafood, paired with a nice Blauer Zweigelt. All of the seafood was well prepared and nicely spiced ... not over- or under cooked. We shared a veggie appetizer of egg plant meatballs (also on their vegetable entree plate) but vegans beware: There is bacon in the sauce, so ask before you assume too much. Tres Jackson is big on letting you know where all of the ingredients are from, which is a trend that I rather like. The food is fresh and well presented with a relatively creative menu. Nice."

  • "Restaurant gives a nice fresh spin on fresh vegetables, organic meats and sustainable seafood. Nice selection of appetizers and decent selection of main plates. key Lime pie with concentrated pomegranate juice as garnish was wonderful. Experience was probably a little unusual as it was extremely slow that night but a nice location in downtown Tuscaloosa."
