  • "Epic is a great place to go, if you only care about ambience. I was a little surprised to see that a simple SIDE of beets risotto was at market price, then when the bill came it was $16! There's no reason that a side of risotto should be at "market price." For 2 people, we spent $150. You can better spend that at other tastier restaurants in the area (eg,Naha, Sunda)."

  • "This restaurant is beautiful and the food is good. They have a nice selection of cocktails and it's much more energetic than "Celeste" across the street. Apparently, it turns into a nightclub later, but usually it's just older men with young women. It's a nice place to go for dinner because it isn't overly crowded and the service is good."

  • "I was here for dinner on June 12th with some work colleagues. First I'll note that we truly enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and the view from the floor to ceiling windows on the 2nd floor. Our waiter was knowledgeable and had a very friendly disposition. The wine he helped us choose was a lovely Malbec from Argentina, can't remember the name but it was fantastic. As for food, I would not recommend the bone marrow - it was fatty and almost gristly rather than smooth and spreadable as it should have been. That is my only negative comment. The oysters and ahi tuna appetizers were amazing as was the hanger steak entree. We were all pleased with our entree choices. It's a little on the pricey side but worth it!"

  • "We ate at Epic the other day. Our server was pretty good, but the prices were a bit steep for the overall value received. My tuna was supposed to be cooked medium rare (according to the server). But when it came, it was way overcooked. Our server said that the kitchen had been overcooking the tuna for the past few days. Really?!? They've been overcooking (and I assume throwing out) pieces of tuna for a few days?!? You might want to get a new kitchen staff. You could probably lower your prices, and provide a better overall experience if the food was cooked properly. Although in defense of the kitchen, it might be easier to cook it properly if the tuna was a steak, rather than a triangle."

  • "We happened upon Epic after finding a Groupon just a week before visiting Chicago. The restaurant space is much larger than expected; we were greeted right away and had a few drinks before our table was ready. Make a reservation! Once we were seated it only got better from there, our server was knowledgeable of the special, she provided excellent service without being too noticeable or intrusive of our evening. The food is some of the best we've ever had the pleasure of enjoying; I'd recommend the Hanger Steak and the Lamb... Sit back and enjoy this Epic experience."

From the multiple levels, each offering it's own unique ambiance, to the exquisite variety and presentation of the quisine, the delightful wine pairings, and the vibrant and chic nightlife on the roof-top terrace, Epic provides guests the finest that Chicago has to offer in a single venue. The General Manager, Agim, is always superb in his attentive and comprehensive quality of service and dedication to ensuring a first-rate experience. Lydia is also a delight.   • "This visit was my first and last visit of Epic. We went there for a celebration dinner and chose it because of its menu. I had made reservations for 8:45pm. We promptly ordered as we set down by 9:00pm and after that we had NO word from our server. We had to ask two separate servers in the restaurant to find him because our food didn't come for an hour. We had to ask for the manager and the waiter finally came. There was absolutely no apology nor did he explain why we were forgotten. When we did get our food, two of the items which we requested as "medium" were overcooked. I had never had such an unpleasant time and have never waited OVER an hour to get our food. DO NOT go to this place it will ruin your night."

Main courses; halibut, duck and swordfish were all quite good with nice accompaniments. The ice cream had to be sent back twice due to the wrong flavors being sent but no questions asked and all tasty"

  • "I was visiting Chicago on business and selected Epic since it was located close to where I was doing business that day and I had invited guests to join me that evening. The other amenities or qualities were the Sky Bar as well as the recommendations of the food. My overall experience at this restaurant was great. Unfortunately, to no fault of theirs, the Sky Bar was closed due to weather conditions. The interior was current and the food was good. Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a success."

  • "We choose this restaurant for a special Sat night out. There were several great items on the menu. We chose and ordered. One was the Hanger Steak $33. We ordered it medium rare. It came out barely seared. The waiter never came back to see if our food was as ordered. We flagged down a bus boy and had him get someone to recook it. It came back out and had not even been put back on the grill. Our waiter never came back over to check, nor did the manager. As they cleared our plates we told him it was still not cooked enough. He said nothing. Our server brought the bill and asked if we wanted champagne to make up for their mistake. We stated no, but they should remove the $33 meal that we did not eat. He did not and we will never go back!!"

  • "Best to call for reservations I think. I did it on line and didn't get much choice though it was clear that we could have had many choices of dining times. Great and imaginative food. Don't miss the rooftop bar. Friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Met some people at an adjoining table; liked them so much we had a drink together after dinner at the aforementioned rooftop bar -- which is noisy but fun -- and exchanged cards for later contact."

  • "My companion and I arrived at 6:30 per our reservation, and began eating after 7, in spite of ordering right away. They had a large private group party and apparently had no idea how to handle this in addition to a relatively light dinner crowd. The waiter was a pretty good guy, but not exceptional. So a party's food cam out and four people of the staff stood over it for probably two or three minutes trying to figure out what to do with it next. Then as our orders were delivered what followed was a group of about 10 placed next to us, but instead of having them sit down, they stood, hovering over us and having their party conversation virtually right over us. Food good, not fab, but good. Hospitality lousy."

  • "Our waiter (Patrick) was awesome with terrific recommendations. The food was phenomenal and we only regret having to leave to go to our show versus having a leisurely cup of coffee with dessert. The dinner made my husband and my evening out the best we've had in years! We showed up before our RSVP and we're told to sit at the bar until our table was ready. The hostess FORGOT about us until we went back to ask why we ha not been seated. Once seated we couldn't figure out why we had to wait since there were only 6 tables with people. The manager came over to our table once for maybe 10 seconds to ask how the food was. Later he wished us good night and was clueless where the Chicago Theatre (it's 5 blocks away!). "

From appetizers (had the crab cake and pork belly) to the salad (heirloom tomatoes) to the main dish (I had the duck three ways with the best dirty rice I have ever had in my life and my bf had the lambchops), it was deliciously amazing. However, the wait time for the food was too long. I am not sure if maybe because we had a groupon, or it is a Friday night and it was busy or the chef were making sure that the food was perfect but then again it was worth the wait. We celebrated our 8th yr anniversary and ahead of time when I made the reservation I made this so when we arrive, our waiter knew and greeted us and they even personalized the menu with a greeting as well!"

  • "It didn't start off well -7:45pm reservations on a Tuesday. The hostess sat us at a table between 2 other tables so we were all crammed together. It was hard to hear what my husband was saying across the table from me until 2 dinners left. There were plenty of empty tables nearby so why seat us there? We sat for 15 minutes. Another waiter asked us how everything was - we told him we hadn't ordered anything. Credit to him because he apologized & took our order. Our drinks came out shortly but we waited quite a bit for our appetizers & food. Food was good & it was served nice 'n hot. However, the side order of potatoes we ordered didn't come to our table until we were almost done eating our entre."

  • "We had an incredible dinner at Epic for our 1st anniversary-- the staff went out of their way to make the evening memorable by printing a "Happy Anniversary" message on the menu, all of the staff we encountered also wished us a happy anniversary. The food was incredible, the building itself is incredibly large and very impressive, and at the end of our meal our sweet waiter brought us two glasses of champagne. I was extremely impressed. We will be back. "

  • "we had several appetizers and I am not sure why but every single one was just tasteless and the only reason behind the dryness was that they were prepared way way earlier. Foie Gras was the worst ever and octopus dish was just again tasteless. The server was pushing the "Scottish Salmon" as a specialty but then it turns out it was just a regular farm raised salmon....Also my colleague had NY Strip and it was just bad at $52. The sad thing this place has been here for awhile and the menu has not changed at all. Net net, OK social/drinking spot but stay away from food and choose other newer places in the area. These guys should turn this into a great night club and get out of the restaurant business. "

  • "This is the fourth meal we've had at Epic. The previous three were excellent. I ordered items I've had before. Although the description was the same on the menu, the flavors and combination of ingredients were completely different and disappointing. Additionally, we pulled up to discover they no longer had valet parking. The staff told us it was a move by the alderman to prohibit valet in their neighborhood, but we saw valet parking in the next block. Don't think we'll go back."

  • "The ahi tuna tartare was good, despite being unseared. We shared the grilled swordfish and also had a side of zucchini squash. The swordfish came with hearts of palm and big pieces of leek with a delicious cream sauce. The squash was a major disappointment. It looked unappetizing: the basil on top was not fresh, and the cheese sprinkled tasted old. We didn't want to waste money so we used the swordfish's cream sauce and mixed it into the squash. For dessert we got the tres leche cake which was also bad. It was obviously made like a week prior to serving. Also, there are way too many servers standing around between 5-6:30pm. There weren't many diners around this time so it was awkward just seeing everyone stand to the side watching us eat."

  • "We loved everything, a rare experience indeed. The food was delicious, the service attentive and spot on. We will be back for the short ribs with Asian rice noodles beneath, the scrumptious beet salad with apricots, the oven roasted potatoes on the side, and the dreamy Sex Panther cocktail with mango puree. The kids loved the roasted Amish chicken and wanted more. Grownups enjoyed the grilled salmon panzanella salad with cherries and the risotto with mushrooms. The Chocolate Banana Stack dessert was adored by adults and kids with its yummy chocolate mousse atop delicious banana cake served for our birthday celebration with an eye-catching sparkler. Their ginger beer is zippy and refreshing and Epic's bread is marvelous. "

  • "I had eaten here once, my husband never. Went with a Groupon promotion. Everything here - food, service, ambience - was excellent. We each had a fish dish; both were prepared with great creativity that was truly outstanding. Epic is rather pricey without Groupon but worth going to for a special occasion."
