  • "We will return to Epic. All was delicious, the service exceptional, and the ambience very nice. We loved the red and gold beet salad with tiny bits of feta and we enjoyed the kale salad. We are literally craving the scrumptious chimichurri sauce served with the perfectly prepared sliced hanger steak! This was accompanied by 'bacon hash,' which was tasty but not hash. The exceptionally fork-tender boneless short ribs were to die for and we'd go back in a heartbeat to eat them again. Their accompaniment was most tasty: rice noodles mixed with small diced snow peas, carrot strips, and more, stirred with the gravy. At one time, the short ribs were plated with potato pancakes which also sounds marvelous. Chocolate ganache cake was yummy."

  • "Modern and big, this place seems geared for a nightclub crowd. The team, with nice exceptions, is adolescent in their service technique. If you're over 40, you may find this annoying. We were 30-min early for a pre-reserved birthday, but the dining room was closed for a private event. No mention was made of this during my confirmation call. The stand-in host missed the note of the birthday but the returning hostess corrected it. At $100 per person, the main floor booths are annoyingly wobbly for dining. The highlight was our waitress who sent us to the roof for cocktails even after being seated and held the table for us. The cool pyrotechnic element on our dessert made the night (missed taking home the personalized menu)."

  • "Industrial design mixed with dark woods and minimal lighting = chic, plain and simple. The food is inventive and delicious. Every dish, from the Foie Gras over Donut Holes, and Prawns over Grits w/ Butternut sauce appetizers (!!) to the Hanger Steak with fingerlings & Chili Chimichurri sauce (the latter, a true hit, with the steak's seared edges hitting all the right notes up against the herbal delight of the sauce!!) ... sublime. Don't skimp on the sides, either! The Succotash was a vegetable heaven of zucchini, small squashes, edamame, and favas in a smokey buttery sauté. Unbelievably good. Drinks & service, too. And yet, at the same time, with the goodness came very little pretension. Epic brings the comfy chic vibe. Go. "

  • "Ambience was great, we sat in the upper level at the back. Great view of the main restaurant, but quieter. Food was very good, waitress was professional and knowledgable. Their outdoor patio on the third floor had just opened as it was the first warm night of the spring. Lots of traffic to the patio, but we did not go there ourselves. Only thing that was disappointing was the restrooms needed to be serviced. An overlooked detail like this should never happen in a place this nice."

  • "The restaurant has cool atmosphere. The food is horrible especially the presentation. The ahi tuna appetizer tasted chewy which leads me to believe its old. Kale salad was drenched in dressing. My entree,pork tenderloin,was 1 think pork chop cut in half with squash cubes and random oranges thrown on the plate. Sea scallops only came with 3,rissoto was cooked well but way to powerful of pesto. It's all you tasted! With huge slices of grapefruit,again random! Would not go back and differently glad we had a groupon!"

Some interesting flavors in some dishes, but ... the halibut was overcooked, the lamb chops thin (but tasty) and slightly overcooked, the hangar steak inconsistent (some parts tough, some good) and the tuna (a replacement for the scallops that they ran out of) was fabulous. The beet salad was good, as was the octopus appetizer. While they comped the halibut (good service) the waitress was typically "missing" (bad service.) We had a great table by the window, so no complaints there. But, on the whole, not worth the price."

  • "Best food I've had in a while. However, don't go if you are vegetarian or vegan because the options are incredibly slim for you (I'm pescatarian and it was difficult for me to find something). The food also takes forever to come out of the kitchen. We sat about 20 minutes just waiting for the dessert (which was fabulous and my favorite thing of the night -- the bourbon bread pudding). The ambiance is also very nice and almost "sexy." The view wasn't of anything great but the ambiance of the restaurant more than made up for it. The servers were extremely nice, especially since my boyfriend and I used a groupon and we have had bad service just because of using groupons in the past. Thanks Epic!"

  • "My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed our experience at Epic. I mentioned when making my reservation that this was a combined birthday celebration and when we arrived they knew us by name and had our names printed on the menus. Now that is customer service! Our waiter Carlos was very polite and extremely knowledgeable about what was on the menu. He did a great job taking care of us and we both loved what we had for dinner. The wine flight is a bargain, too. We stopped at the bar for a drink and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Moderately noisy (it's a bar) but not obnoxious at all. I would, and will, go back to Epic in the near future and do recommend it."

  • "Visited Epic because daughter plans to have her Wedding/Reception there in the fall. The food was wonderful, beautifully and tastefully plated, and plentiful. Menu choices were excellent. It was a LOUD night of dining since it was St. Patrick's Day parade in Chicago, and the entire street and restaurant were crowded with revelers. The on duty manager made sure we were happy with everything we ordered. Interesting mix of diners in the main dining room. The 1st floor bar was energetic and music piped up way too loud, but they probably couldn't hear it in the bar. We definitely would like to go back on a quieter night, and definitely plan to enjoy our daughter's wedding event in the fall at Epic."

  • "The building is beautiful! Food and service... Was just OK. I sat with an empty water for about 15 minutes even after I had to ask for more. We asked to have our bill split up for business write off purposes, and they said they would, but didn't. As for the food, flavor was good, but it could have been better. My grilled octopus had cold/ warm spots, Amish chicken was a little dry. We tried the MS special dessert that all proceeds went to MS foundation, and it was wonderful! Two thumbs up for the pastry chef who came to our table to thank us for our donation! Over all I'd say it was good, but not great."

  • "Service was one of the worst experience I have ever had though. He took forever to greet us , we ordered all our food at the same time and place an appetizer order. After giving us appetizer plates we waited about 20 minutes then all our food came out at the same time. My friend steak was ordered medium and came out well and they had to re-cook but once we cooked it did taste great.The server only checked with us twice once to get our drink order and once to get all our food order then brought our check back at the very end. If it wasn't for the Groupon I had I would've been extremely upset with the service that we had for a $200 experience. Understanding this is a new restaurant I will give it another try because the food was great"

  • "Wanted to take my boyfriend for his 30th Birthday, but they are sadly closed on Sundays, but we were able to go on the 8th. When I made the reservation, I placed in the notes that we were celebrating a birthday and was called to get his name so they could customize a menu for him. I was impressed and when he got his menu, he absolutely loved it. His face lit up like a kid's. The service we received from the time we walked in the door was awesome!! Our water glasses were never empty and our waiter was never too far away. Our meals came quickly and were really delicious; I got desert to take home and was not impressed....but overall, we had a great time and I will definitely be going back."
