Epic Restaurant- The Royal York HotelWonderful Mother's Day brunchI go for brunch every year for Mother's Day, usually at the old mill or hockey valley. The royal York is by far the nicest brunch I have ever been too.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Epic. Our service was quick, efficient and professional. The food was superb. The totality of quantity was excellent. We enjoyed the chicken and the beef, prepared to perfection. Dessert was out of this world, as were the greens and tomato salad. I look forward to visiting again and would make a point of going here even if not able to stay at the Royal York Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful evening.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely anniversary dinnerBooked anniversary dinner with my wife at Epic as we were staying at the Royal York. (We make the rounds of Fairmont hotels each year; it's become our thing.) Requested and was given a quiet table for two with a nice view. Service was friendly, polite, and efficient. Live jazz standards being performed in the bar; good volume, not noisy or disruptive. Excellent salads, duck and venison. Complimentary desert was a nice touch. I admire their commitment to using local produce and meats, regional ingredients, and the fact they have a rooftop garden for veggies and honey. Would happily recommend them.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery EnjoyableWe really enjoyed our dinner at EPIC. Great food, well served.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMepic diningI was looking for an easy location for a nice lunch with my son before he headed back to Montreal, and since he was flying Porter, and is a chef, and a true *foodie* I thought that he would enjoy the sustainable dining concept of the Epic Cafe. We were not disappointed! Upon my arrival, I was pleased to see that a former Prime Minister also felt that Epic was a good choice, and I thought if it was good enough for a PM, it's good enough for me!! The menu itself is a model for clear communications to a patron. It was well written, with a clear legend for dietary considerations and a diverse selection of foods, with ingredients from within 100 kilometers. The food was perfectly presented, perfectly prepared and perfectly served. Epic was epic!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI went there because of WagjagI went there because of Wagjag Voucher ($50 for 2 people). The standard 3 courses menu is $37.50 per person. It was Wednesday and not a busy night. The food came really fast as expected. The Chowder was very good. The steak and fish were cooked perfectly. The mushroom bisque was the only disapointment as it was a bit watery and tasteless. (may be it is what suppose to be). I did not expect the server provided me an A+ service as I used Wagjag Voucher and did not order wine. However, this is not the case. The service was very good indeed. The overall experience was positive. I would definitely go back again. Epic meet my expectation. Its food and service are much better than other restaurant with the same (regular) price tag.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIn addition to the excellentIn addition to the excellent food and service is the quiet environment. Even when very busy dinners can still converse normally. The tables are well spaced and there are sufficient soft furnishings. More and more we, and our friends, do not dine out as we are fed up with noisy restaurants. No food makes up for not being able to converse.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
