Epic Restaurant- The Royal York HotelEpic is a lovely place forEpic is a lovely place for breakfast. The menu is small, but the selections are good and for the time starved, there is a lovely buffet.12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe noisy bar next to theThe noisy bar next to the dining area is not a plus. Other than that, everything was great, as per usual.11/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Meal!An excellent meal, Mushroom Ravioli was great and the Salmon and Prawns were outstanding! Highly recommended!
Wife loved the dinner and the very good service!10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd time even betterWe have been to Epic twice now and it is by far the best fine dining establishment we have eaten at including places like North 44 and Canoe. The menu was elegant with inspired descriptions of the cuisine without becoming uselessly cryptic (Canoe please take note)
The quality of the food was outstanding and very well presented. The staff were friendly and experienced without being stuffy. We were fortunate to get the same waiter both times (Hi George!) and we were given plenty of time to chat with our guests, another couple, before ordering. The noise level was reasonable given they were busy on a Friday evening.
Overall we loved the experience and look forward to our next time with Epic.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAn incredible dining experience!Had a wonderful dining experience in this fabulous resturant with great tasting food, wine and wonderful waiters especially one in particular even though all were excellent. They made our first time in Toronto a memorable one!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad we tried itGood food that was nicely prepared and presented. Attentive service. Dates atmosphere.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMade a same day reservationMade a same day reservation on line, arrived early and requested a special table, hostess was very accommodating. We had a great time while waiting in bar, great drinks and great service. Dinner was excellent. We had stayed at the Royal York 4 years ago and had a wonderful time, we love to come here when in Toronto.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Birthday DinnerThe quality, taste, and presentation of the food was exceptional. The waiters made us feel very special and we enjoyed their personalities and friendly "bantering". Our table was near the "open kitchen" which the foodie in our group found to be very entertaining and enjoyable. And we were delighted when dessert arrived with a special birthday message written on the plate in chocolate. From beginning to end, it was a great experience for a special birthday celebration.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA most delectable evening ...This was our first time at EPIC and we were not disappointed. The dinner was wonderful. We had the Prix Fixe menu (I had a salad to start and the Halibut as my main course and my husband had the mushroom bisque and the beef tenderloin, and we selected both desserts and shared (the crème brulée and a flourless chocolate/caramel concoction that was heaven). Everything delivered to our table was exquisite, including the amuse-bouche watermelon juice that was served before dinner !! And, as we had tickets to the Russian ballet at the Sony Centre, everything was served in a timely fashion so that we could head to our ballet in plenty of time. Thank you, Epic, for making it such a memorable evening.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMmy wife and i were celebratingmy wife and i were celebrating our 25 anniversary and they made it very special for us. the food was excellent as well as the service5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSTELLAR EXPERIENCEORDERED THE BEEF TENDERLOIN...WAS EXCEPTIONAL...CHOWDER WAS BEST I HVAE EVER HAD5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEpic Restaurant: 5/17/13The first time I ate at Epic Restaurant at Fairmont Royal York was fantastic! The three course prix-fixe dinner was the best! Atlantic seafood chowder, Yorkshire grilled chicken, flourless chocolate slab! Mmm, mmm, mmmmmmm! My thanks to the chef that cooked the food that evening on May 17.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's Day brunchI go for brunch every year for Mother's Day, usually at the old mill or hockey valley. The royal York is by far the nicest brunch I have ever been too.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Epic. Our service was quick, efficient and professional. The food was superb. The totality of quantity was excellent. We enjoyed the chicken and the beef, prepared to perfection. Dessert was out of this world, as were the greens and tomato salad. I look forward to visiting again and would make a point of going here even if not able to stay at the Royal York Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful evening.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely anniversary dinnerBooked anniversary dinner with my wife at Epic as we were staying at the Royal York. (We make the rounds of Fairmont hotels each year; it's become our thing.) Requested and was given a quiet table for two with a nice view. Service was friendly, polite, and efficient. Live jazz standards being performed in the bar; good volume, not noisy or disruptive. Excellent salads, duck and venison. Complimentary desert was a nice touch. I admire their commitment to using local produce and meats, regional ingredients, and the fact they have a rooftop garden for veggies and honey. Would happily recommend them.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery EnjoyableWe really enjoyed our dinner at EPIC. Great food, well served.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMepic diningI was looking for an easy location for a nice lunch with my son before he headed back to Montreal, and since he was flying Porter, and is a chef, and a true *foodie* I thought that he would enjoy the sustainable dining concept of the Epic Cafe. We were not disappointed! Upon my arrival, I was pleased to see that a former Prime Minister also felt that Epic was a good choice, and I thought if it was good enough for a PM, it's good enough for me!! The menu itself is a model for clear communications to a patron. It was well written, with a clear legend for dietary considerations and a diverse selection of foods, with ingredients from within 100 kilometers. The food was perfectly presented, perfectly prepared and perfectly served. Epic was epic!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI went there because of WagjagI went there because of Wagjag Voucher ($50 for 2 people). The standard 3 courses menu is $37.50 per person. It was Wednesday and not a busy night. The food came really fast as expected. The Chowder was very good. The steak and fish were cooked perfectly. The mushroom bisque was the only disapointment as it was a bit watery and tasteless. (may be it is what suppose to be). I did not expect the server provided me an A+ service as I used Wagjag Voucher and did not order wine. However, this is not the case. The service was very good indeed. The overall experience was positive. I would definitely go back again. Epic meet my expectation. Its food and service are much better than other restaurant with the same (regular) price tag.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBecause of the WinterliciousBecause of the Winterlicious program, the restaurant was busier than usual. Service was still very friendly and courteous but was less prompt than usual. Having said that, Epic remains one of my favourite downtown restaurants. I will return again and again, and I often recommend it to my colleagues.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIn addition to the excellentIn addition to the excellent food and service is the quiet environment. Even when very busy dinners can still converse normally. The tables are well spaced and there are sufficient soft furnishings. More and more we, and our friends, do not dine out as we are fed up with noisy restaurants. No food makes up for not being able to converse.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
