"We had a very nice dinner here for our first night in Washington DC. The staff was great and accommodating. The food was very well done with great choices on the different types of tasting menu's. For those who don't like tasting menu's I would not recommend this place. And if you don't like tasting menu's what's wrong with you? My only criticism would be to tighten up the wine list. No the best chioces from the "by the glass menu". But other than that great job."

"Began with 4 amuses - abalone sashimi, quail egg with pickle & radish leaf, golden raisin puree w/ crushed peanuts, & lamb tartare - all scrumptious! Then a Meyer lemonade with wild licorice infusion to cleanse the palate. Next was braised Virginia rabbit with sea island red peas & collard greens; hand cut semolina spaghetti w/ peekeytoe crab, razor clam, ramp, chili & bread crumbs; Border Springs lamb, with coco beans, spring onion, fiddlehead fern, chard & natural jus. Each was outstanding. Deserts were fennel upside down cake (me) & salted dark chocolate mousse with stewed orange peel, black raspberry preserves & praline (spouse) - each was interesting, but not nearly as good as the dishes that preceeded them. No espresso, however."

"We both ordered off the "normal menu" instead of the vegetarian or offal menus. The meal stared with several bitesize small plates and proceded through four additional courses chosen from the pre-fixe menu. Portion sizes were definitely not large and I wanted more of several of the courses, however given the number of courses there was absolutely plenty of food overall. My girlfriend and I each ordered different things for each course and shared them, and all the dishes were either very good or excellent. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambience was nice as well. We had a late seating, so were the last ones in our section, but were not rushed at all."

"The four “Chef’s Welcome” small plates were all mouth watering. The first course, seared foie gras was luscious, as was the sauce on the plate. In fact we ignored table manners for all three courses and used our bread to sop of every smidgen of source. The pasta was made interesting by the variety of textures in the accompaniments--ground peanuts for crunch and wilted greens for chewiness. The mains--veal shoulder and pacific skate--were perfectly cooked and made more interesting by accompanying textures, such as the barley with the veal. Both the chocolate and the flan desserts were first rate. Portions were appfor a tasting menu, although I would have enjoyed a larger lobe of foie gras. The wine list was extensive and thoughtful,"

"Our evening at Eola may rank as one of the finest dining experiences we've had in the DC Metropolitan area. The restaurant called ahead to inquire about our dietary restrictions and had my wife's vegetarian menu at the table when we arrived. The menu was superb and the Chef's presentation was very artistic. The amuse bouche welcome was a wonderful introduction to our adventure and the prohibition era cocktails complemented them perfectly. Our server team was pleasant and very helpful in navigating us through the evening. Our waitress recommended a beautiful Nebbiolo that matched perfectly with our course selection. If you have the opportunity, order the sublime foie gras and apple. Put Eola on your list of must dos."
