A word from Enzo and Lucia
Homemade pasta is the specialty at this Long Grove Italian restaurant housed in a former Victorian-style home on the border of Arlington Heights. Begin your delicious authtentic Italian meal with bruschetta, grilled calamari or prosciutto with melon. You will enjoy the best authentic Italian food in Chicago's Northwest Suburbs.

A daily risotto, fresh fish served whole and veal chops are among the hearty selections. Potato gnocchi is a popular dish. Homemade desserts include cannoli and tiramisu.

The candlelit main dining room in our Italian Restaurante, located upstairs, is painted green and burgundy. Wood paneling, a fireplace, French windows and well-spaced tables make for an intimate atmosphere. The view of a fountain and flower garden spells romance. A kitchen table provides a glimpse behind the scenes.

Limited outside summer seating is available.

Food is spectacular and so is the staff. Noise level is fine for 2-4 people, but our group of 7 had a hard time having a conversation because it was very crowded and noisy that particular evening.

Had reservations for 7PM. It was rather crowded and a bit loud, but the food was incredible. Portions are very large! We plan to eat there again and if we do on a Sat night we will probably request to be seated downstairs where it seemed a little less hectic.

This is old school Italian. The food is really very, very good. Portions, ample. I had the sausage and peppers for an entre that were outstanding. We shared a mixed grill appetizer of shrimp, calamari, conch, and octopus. Very good. But the service is, at best, marginal. In addition, the tables are very closely spaced and as a result, the noise level can be high (acknowledging that we were seated next to a party where some of the men had clearly been drinking and were a bit loud).

We had been to this restaurant previously and thought it would be ideal for a dinner with our adult children - a party of 8. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told that "someone" called to change our reservation from 8 people to 5, so that is what the table was set for. We made no such call and they hastily reset the table for 8 - a little crowded. The server appeared to be experienced, but she knew nothing about the wines on the wine list and did not offer to call someone else over who might have known more. She also never told us about the nightly specials until we specifically asked, and one special appetizer was nothing like she described. One side dish was never brought and one entrée was overcooked.

One of the few places still left in Long Grove and now I see why! I didin't realize that the restaurant existed until a friend recommended it to us for our "night out". Not very expensive and great service. We went back with our kids and they loved it too ( kids menu pretty good too). They were the only kids in there, so I wouldn't call it a "kiddie" friendly restaurant but it wasn't stuffy either....a nice balance.

It was a special occasion and we were taking a chance since we had not been there before. Six people, all with different choices, all loved their selection. My husband claimed the Chicken Vesuvio was the best he ever had and he has had some good ones. I had the sausage and peppers and I almost always take home leftovers, but I couldn't stop eating, ergo, no leftovers. Four of us ordered desserts and there were no complaints there. The noise level was a little high but isn't it that way everywhere these days? We not only will return, but we have already made a future reservation.

If you're in the mood for great Italian food, then Enzo & Lucia is the only place to go! Every dish is homemade with the highest quality ingredients. The food reminds me of dining in Italy. The pumpkin ravioli is to die for, along with my other menu favorites: the eggplant parmesan, chicken francese, chicken limone, zuppa de pesce, or the grilled calamari! Entrees come with soup or salad, and a side of pasta or grilled vegetables. (Choose the pasta!) Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and for the quality. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu at this wonderful Italian restaurant in the heart of Long Grove! (Be aware: there is an elevator, however, it isn't easily handicap accessible.)

I thought it was good, but nothing special. My daughter had the Gnocchi and said it wasn't the best she has had, a bit chewy. We also thought it was strange they didn't have the sauces listed on the menu. When we asked our server she started listing them with a "you should know all the different Italian sauces" attitude. Not the most attentive service either and they weren't busy.

Food is outstanding. Dare I say it? Short rib risotto is better than any you will find in Naples! Chicken mushroom cappellaci is addictive. Bread is fresh, hot and when smothered in Lucia's chopped garlic, a meal in itself. Anything with Enzo's name in it is delish, like the Chicken Enzo. How can you not love chicken, fontina and asparagus? Save room for dessert. Homemade tiramisu and cannoli to die for...lemon torte with limoncello liqueur should not be missed! Service is attentive, you are made to feel like family from the minute you walk in the door. Can't wait to go back!!!

  • Intolerable Noise Ruins Good Dinner

While the food was good and the server very prompt and responsible, the noise level (it was a Saturday night and the restaurant was full) was so high to be nearly intolerable, just about ruining what would otherwise have been an enjoyable evening. My wife, our guest and I couldn't wait to get outside to be able to hear ourselves think. The owners need to find a way to reduce the number of tables, install noise-deadening furnishings, carpet, wall coverings and ceiling to enhance customers' experiences. It is a disservice to them otherwise.

First time for dinner, but enjoyed a nice lunch there several years ago. Very nice. Close to home. The menu was good size. Garlic spread was "excellent". The noise level was way to loud. We will go back, however they do have a couple of tables in the kitchen for customers and we would love to eat there. The kitchen help is always a show of its own (entertainment), something we enjoy.

Had a good experience several years ago. On this visit the food was very good with ample portions. As others have noted, the room can be noisy when the dining room is full. It's mostly guests talking; no loud music. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time and a table was ready in 5 minutes.

Food was great, wine by the glass list so/so, wine list was adequate. Service was above average. Way too much noise, my wife and I were at a table for two and had to lean in and speak up to hear each other. We will give it a few months and see if they add something to tone the ambient noise down. I like an reasonably energetic restaurant but this was too much. The food was good enough that we will give it another shot though. I had the Carbonara and my wife had tortellini both very tasty.

I hope they can work the bugs out, because this used to be a real good restaurant. Service was poor, but I assume this is do to everyone being new. Staff actually fought with each other on the main dining floor. This will probably correct itself. However, the food was strictly reheated food service fare. Which is fine for a small, economical corner restaurant, but for a $75 bill for 2 adults and 2 kids menu items with one glass of wine total and no appetizers or dessert, it is not an appropriate price point. I would have been fine paying more for better quality, and this space could support that. We did have a pleasant time, but the meal was completely forgettable.

The black ink pasta was delicious. Our guests ordered chicken and veal dishes and each one was quite pleased. Price was quite reasonable for the quality of food. However , the noise level was high and the the room got warm apparently due to a breakdown in the air conditioning. The staff were courteous and friendly however food delivery was rather slow. This could be attributed to the big volume of diners that night.

We found this restaurant around the corner from where we stay. It's located in a small quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. The place was cozy it almost look like your mother's dining room just with a lot of tables. The food and service was outstanding. It was a little nosy only because the dinning area was small but overall it was a great experience. We will definitely go back.

We had a wonderful dinner experience for eight last week. Friendly, curteous service and terrific food. Highly recommend anything "Enzo" style as it is prepared with asparagus and melted fontina cheese. ( I had the veal). Others had dishes ranging from salmon, pasta with seafood and chicken. All said the preparations were delicious. Setting is in an old house with 2 main dining rooms on different levels and a lovely outdoor setting facing the heart of Long Grove.

More than enough to eat. They were too heavy on the melted cheese (on my chicken dish) for me but I would definitely recommend the tiramisu. If the room is full it is a bit loud so not good for conversation if you're soft-spoken. Service was excellent. Someone was always filling up my water glass! I would definitely go back but I might order something different next time or ask for less cheese on my chicken.

This was my second visit and I came specifically for Salmon puttenesca as my last visit, I tasted my cousin's & fell in love with it! This sauce is a marinara type base with Kalamata olives over salmon with pasta. The menu nor specials featured this Entree. Thankfully our waiter said they could prepare it for me. This dish along with an Australian Shiraz, their crusty bread with chopped fresh garlic & olive oil pleased this Italian girl immensely! Our previously perfect outside table became too chilly and our waiter was kind to move us indoors to the bar for cappucino & desert. The bartender was very kind to offer a lemoncello which was refreshing & fun. The lemon Italian ice served in a hollowed lemon peel was light & refreshing.
