A word from Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Monica
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat. Also just a few blocks from the waterfront, our sister restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.Continued

  • "The brunette at the front is very unfriendly. We were 15 minutes early. Even though there were tables she told us we had to wait. And did it in a very maturer if fact way. It was not until we threatened to leave that a blonde at the front sat us. I tred to befriend the brunette upon leaving but she just looked away. Maybe she was having personal issues. She is in the wrong business"

  • "We stumbled upon this restaurant from a yelp search and the reviews don't do this place justice. While they were all incredibly positive, enough good things really cannot be said. Our waiter, Christian, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and very entertaining. The food came at a very perfectly timed pace and the selection was exquisite. I will absolutely come back to this restaurant and I will absolutely be referring everyone. Thank you so much for the quintessential dining experience!"

  • "I was there for a birthday. The server was attentive and friendly. We all ordered different entrees which were all delicious. The grilled prawns were succent and portion was generous. The sea bass with miso, salmon and the swordfish were all cooked perfectly. The sides were also delicious. Don't miss the lobster bisque!"

  • "We went to Enterprise Fish Co. for my brother's birthday. We were seated very quickly and our waitress took our order right away. However, there was a large party dining there at the same time and we had to wait a very long time for our orders to come out. my mom and I both ordered the salmon and by the time we got our food the salmon was completely dry. However, the waitress was very nice about it and took one of the salmon dinners off the bill and our entire party of 5 got free dessert. Overall great service. Will definitely be returning."

  • "it sounds like damning with faint praise to say food is "good" or that ambiance is "good", but this is a testament to the reliability of a restaurant that we've visited less in recent years as it became less convenient to our schedules. Returned with an out-of-town friend tonight, and though many menu details and some decor have changed, dinner was dependably good & that in itself earns my respect (me: Manhattan clam, grilled shrimp, grilled vegetables; him, chicken Greek salad). When he found fewer vegetables than desired, I assured him all he had to do was ask - and more were brought. Professional, well-run, reliable--and healthy food for the hungry in a lively atmosphere. Restaurants restore: this one does the job."

  • "My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for dinner for the past 30 years. It was great at the beginning, it got a little rusty towards the middle, and it's definitely getting better but not totally there yet. The lobster tails are much smaller and you don't get as many crab legs. In the beginning we were served a plate full of crab legs, now you only get three, four max. But the lobster bisque with the fresh baked croissant on top is the bomb!"

  • "I've been to Enterprise many time in the past and it has always been superb. This night was just ok on every level. I just wanted 1 glass of wine and the waitress recommended the special AFTER I told her I like dry whites. Well, it was sweet and awful. Food this time was nothing exciting, although the green beans were divine. After we finished dinner we sat for at least 1/2 hour before I finally flagged someone down to get our check AND they had people waiting waiting to be seated. My daughter paid and left 20 percent because she has been a server in the past. I would not have been so generous this time."

  • "Ate there 15 years ago. Had positive memories. But decline in food. Mixed Grill lacked flavor. Veggies especially were tasteless. Prices averaged $25 entree should have been better attended to. Overall impression was a massive bustling assembly line operation. Not a relaxing atmosphere."

  • "We had a great meal at Enterprise. The clam chowder is one of our favorites. I really enjoyed the mixed seafood platter. My kids love the salads. The fish tacos were a little too spicy for my son, but my husband loved them. The also have a good wine selection."

  • "The lobster we ordered was sticking to the shell because it was dry and overcooked and the grilled food was a little in the burnt side."

  • "We have been going there for dinner on Mondays-Thursdays whenever we get a hankering for lobster. The special is quite a deal"

  • "I had three sets of dirty silverware delivered to my table. I should have reported that to management but I didn't want to ruin the mood.the food was just ok and the portion was small. I don't plan on going back anytime soon."

  • "Going on on Valentine's Day, I expected the restaurant to be chaotic, but that wasn't the case at all. Enterprise Fish Company handled the crowd well, and we never felt that the staff was overwhelmed. Although it was a special (limited) menu for Valentine's, there were many good options on the menu. I ordered the halibut and my girlfriend ordered the whole lobster. The halibut was fresh and flaky. The lobster looked very good. I'm not a fan of lobster in the first place, but it tasted good to me as well. My girlfriend said it was great. Even though it was busy, the server took good care of us."

  • "great scallops and the pear salad was perfect. Loved the key lime pie, we shared the pie and there was plenty for 3 of us after a great meal."

  • "Visited specifically for the dineLA menu which was very good....had the 2 lb. lobster which was actually more than I should have eaten! But it was really good! Would definitely go back again to see what's on the regular menu. Service was good; liked our waiter but think he was stretched between lots of tables, tho he tried to check back to make sure everything was ok."

  • "Recommend reservations. try their lobster & Brussels sprouts, yummy!. On a not so breezy night eat outdoors, there are gas fire pits and it is cozy ambience."

  • "This is one of the best seafood restaurants I have dined at. You will not be disappointed. The menu selection is good plus and you also have equally outstanding fresh and seasonal offerings that are not on the menu. We started with appetizers before the main course. We had a dozen oysters on the half shell and I will tell you that I have never had better. Not even the Gulf oysters in New Orleans can beat these. I would highly recommend ths place to anyone who enjoys seafood prepared simple but oh so flavorful. If you are in the area, give it a try, you will not be disappointed."

  • "I've been coming to Enterprise Fish for years, and always find the food to be consistent, fresh, and overall a great dining experience. I love their Lobster specials, and also love the Scallop Skewers, and the scallops are cooked perfectly, and they are so easy to overcooked, that when done right, it's really delicious. The bread is outstanding, and there is a great selection of sides. Wine list is good, and the prices are reasonable as well."

  • "We had a table for 8 in the back room of this very very front room noisy. It was relatively quiet there. Several persons in our group had the DineLA specials that were delicious as was all the other food and wine. It was a special night with friends celebrating a birthday and we were treated very well."

  • "My first time here - loved the comfy booths and, even though the restaurant is large, we had no problem carrying on a conversation - they really have the acoustics figured out. Food was fantastic - starting with the crispy sourdough bread accompanied by softened butter through appetizers (try the cripsy brussels sprouts) entrees and dessert -everything was delicious. Would definitely go again!"
