A word from Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Monica
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat. Also just a few blocks from the waterfront, our sister restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "It was our first time at restaurant and we were celebrating anniversary. The place was loud and alive, the service was quick and friendly, and it was restaurant week and we scored a four course meal with two lb lobster for 49.99 per person. The meal was great even though it was a Saturday during restaurant week and it was busy, but it did not affect the service or meal quality."

  • "Although I live in L.A., I had never been to this restaurant before. I went with a girlfriend during the Dine L.A. period and had a 2 pound lobster that at my request they grilled (although the deal was a steamed lobster) and was served with tender asparagus. There were 2 appetizers and 2 desserts we shared also, but they paled in comparison to this large-to-me lobster, half of which I took home. I generally prefer a 1.5 lb lobster, but this was great. For $45, the meal was astonishing. Would have been astonishing for double the amount."

  • "We went here for a dinner gathering and had a blast. Great service, fun atmosphere, excellent menu."

  • "Tuna on brioche too well cooked after I wanted rare. Service became very slow and we got a partially melted mud pie for the birthday treat. Other than that the other food orders were good. We will return because the food is good."

  • "The food here is great and the service is decent. The restaurant was quite noisy and the food was pricey. However, the food is high quality. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "I love this place for the ambience, but the lobster tail ($50) was overcooked, rubbery, the Caesar salad was too small and the dressing was tasteless, the baked potato was small and not yummy.....For that price...all the elements of this three-part meal should have been fab ten-year-old grandaughter did not like the kids' burger, but the six-year-old ate most of his. may look for another fish place in Santa Monica Last time we went at 5ish, we were forced to wait for fifteen minutes while empty tables were visible"

  • "My brother John and myself enjoyed dining here last Friday so we decided to come again Thursday. Last Friday Alicia was great. Thursday JJ took care of us and we had great time. My brother has a walker and the staff always seems to seat us in the front which is very helpful. We will probably come again on this coming Thursday. See you soon. Donna"

  • "Came here on a Monday lunch. We ordered 2lbs Live lobster special. My lobster was very small and dry. Rice pilaf was hard and dry, it likes leftover rice. Spicy calamari was tough and a small amount. We found 4 items on our bill that we did not order."

  • "The young lady that helped us was so friendly, attentive, courteous and very helpful. We had a great dinner and will be back soon. My brother, John has a walker and we were seated in the front section which was great for us."

  • "This restaurant has been around for a while, and it has had its ups and downs in terms of food quality. It is presently in one of its up period. With slight changes to the menu, we are now very happy with the food, service is still a little iffy, but the noise level seems to have been buffered a bit. It is a huge warehouse. Our dinners were great and prices reasonable. My friend and I have been coming by for lunch fairly regularly and that is quite nice on the patio in this weather. Great to have this "old haunt" back in our book of places to go and to take friends."

  • "The fried seafood platter was terrible. It had been over cooked. Fried way too long. The breading was almost burned."

  • "We came here for the lobster special, which proved to be unavailable, despite it being Thursday evening. The raw oysters were good, but the seared tuna and halibut were nearly flavorless. The New England clam chowder was far too salty, although the Manhattan clam chowder was better, heresy for a Boston native to admit. When we asked for lemons with our ice water, we got the ice taken away without lemons. We had to ask for ice again. The tables had no salt, pepper or any condiments. We had to ask for them. When we asked for the heater to be lit, instead it was rolled away. We asked for two different varieties of Sauvignon Blanc to compare; neither one of us could taste any difference. At $100 plus tip, it was a disappointing meal for two."

  • "Had a bit of a hard time telephoning in a reservation. I was on hold for about 5 minutes before I decided to go on line. I went on line but, the times were on the hour and half hour. I chose the closest one to the time we needed and got confirmation. A few days later I tried the telephone bit again - and got through in no time. Everything was set up perfectly. The food was beyond amazing. Especially the lobsters. Prepared and served perfectly. The server was wonderful. One of our party didn't like the cut of the french fries. She wanted the shoestring and not the thick ones... Our server could not have been nicer. And took care of it immediately. Great place. Could not have been better. A real delight."

  • "Been going here for years. Recently put in a new speaker system at the bar (or so I was told) totally too loud. Cannot even hear the bartender take your order without shouting. A real buzz kill if you are watching a game or trying to have a conversation with somebody."

  • "The Boston clam chowder is superb. We had steamed clams, I had grilled halibut. Both were terrific. Service and attentiveness were missing this time -- definitely a sign that they have cut back on help. The blackboard with fresh fish selections is missing...as is the lobster special -- which was the main attraction for me!"

  • "I have eaten here a few times when visiting family in the area. The food is terrific and they offer a wide array of seafood and many options for how it is prepared. The food is fresh and nicely prepared. I usually try to go early for dinner because it gets very hectic later in the evening. I prefer booths along the widows where it seems less hectic as crowds gather. It is best to make reservations for weekend dinner dining. Parking can be an issue because the nearby lot is used for beach goers or other nearby businesses.prices are higher so with wine it can be expensive but it is worth the for a special seafood dinner."

  • "We have made it a ritual to celebrate birthdays here! We come back for the food. It's great. The only negative thing I have to say, if you have no reservations it's a very long wait. I had reservations for 8:00pm and I still waited 25 minutes. While other people walked in after us, and got seated right away. I still don't get it!"

  • "We dined here on Friday 6/20, with a reservation for 4. 2 adults, 2 children. Ordered crab cake appetizer, 2 kids meals, Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi. The kids meals arrived at least 10 minutes before the appetizer. Manager or supervisor (woman) delivered kids meals, when we asked about our appetizer, she said the kids meals were done and she was bringing them out now. She didn't seem at all concerned about the poor timing of any of it. So the kids finished their meals before the appetizer even arrived. By the time the adult meals arrived (5 minutes apart) the kids were restless and ready to go. Food was bad. Macadamia crusted mahi turned out to be 2 macadamia nuts on overdone fish. Very disappointed!"

  • "Not many good seafood restaurants on the west side but thank God we remembered Enterprise for a friend's bday dinner. She wanted good seafood, so we brought her here, and she loved it! In fact 4 other members of our group had never been here before and they fell in love with the food too. Our server and food runners were super nice and attentive. Get the clam chowder, lobster bisque, and especially the five Asian spices basa swai ( I might be off on the spelling)."

  • "Our celebration at the Enterprise Fish Company was perfect from the time of arrival until we left. The hostess promptly seated us; the waitress greeted us; the wine was perfect; the food was tasty. The birthday dessert was a surprise."

  • "Been coming here for 35 years since it opened. Great choice of seafood (and other stuff for those diners that don't do seafood), and their sides are really good, too. Wife had the lobster special, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the macadamia encrusted mahi mahi, which was also very good. Wife comes here frequently with her walking buddies for happy hour appetizers. It's comfortable, family friendly, and the staff is always accommodating, and we're never afraid to bring guests, or recommend "FishCo" to out-of-towner's looking for an easy night out. Plenty of TV's around the bar for game nights."

  • "This was my first visit back in a long time, and I was very pleased with the dinner. The great warehouse open architecture has not changed, is charming and keeps the noise level down. Our server was well trained, knew the menu and provided excellent service. The selection of fresh fish was excellent, and our dishes were delicious. While the wine list is not extensive, there are wines in many categories, and they are fairly priced (a real plus). This was a totally enjoyable meal on all levels."

  • "Very simply stated, we were served a Riesling instead of a Sancerre (sauvignon blanc), and when i asked to return it the server argued that Sancerre was a sweet wine, and that no mistake was made. I've been a sommelier for 20 years and have never experienced a sweet Sancerre! Finally we just asked for a different wine and the mistake was taken off the check. The service was poor enough, to guarantee that we will never return to this restaurant."

  • "A group of four of us ate outside just as happy hour was finishing up. They had our table ready at sat me solo to wait at the table while the rest of the part arrived - not bad. The waitress even came by right away so I could get a happy hour beer before the shift. The food was pretty good and serving sizes were acceptable - I polished mine but my wife didn't finish and gave me some of her's. Only downsides were that the beer list could use some work and they felt a little under-staffed outside. We waited a while to order once everyone was there."

  • "The service was excellent, the sea bass I had was not so good... The green beans were not very fresh, and the fish didn't taste very soft like sea bass usually do... The clam chowder was delicious though... Everything else was decent... "
