A word from Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara
Just a few blocks from the waterfront, our restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.

Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.

Diner Reviews
  • "Good selection of fresh fish that is well prepared; overall a bit noisy."

  • "Wee had reservation for 8, 10 showed up. Staff took it in stride, great evening"

  • "Looking for great seafood and fun time. Food was very average and ambience was ok"

  • "Amazing menu selection of fresh and sustainably-caught seafood. Service is excellent in this very energetic restaurant. Make reservations, though, because this place is very busy!"

  • "I made a reservation then had to change last minute. The restaurant was very accomodating and seated us immediately even though we were about 15 minutes early. The food was good and the service was personable and prompt. It was a busy night and the place was packed which gave rise to a significant noise level that made me lean over the table many times to further a conversation. Outside of the noise, I definitely recommend the restaurant."

  • "On arrival I noted the long line and packed bar area but thanks to our reservation we were seated immediately. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The fish (scallops, swordfish, sea bass) was fresh, cooked to perfection, and tasted great. The vegan options were appreciated (vegetable pot stickers, salad). In all we had a great time."

  • "We arrived on time and were promptly seated - unfortunately at a table on a main isle around which wait staff and guests were in constant motion. To compensate - and becuase the restaurant is noisy - I sat on the same side of the table as my wife. Our waitress was attentive and we did not feel rushed. We both ordered a seafood grill, the portions of which were generous. The fish and scallops were not overcooked and the flavors were great. A nice wine menu, but for a restaurant of this size, more craft beers choices would have been appreciated. This is not a special occasion venue, but can accomodate groups and serves good seafood at reasonable prices."

  • "We've been here before, and we'll go back again. They always have nice fresh fish specials, which makes each visit unique. We made a last minute reservation on Open Table, and they seated us immediately, even though they were packed. They're quite efficient."

  • "The food and service was great but the sound was just too damn loud and thus we wouldn't return. Our sympathies to the wait staff. They are all going to be deaf."

  • "Consistently high quality fish and service make this a highlight of our visits to Santa Barbara. Reservatons arre a good idea, as it fills up quickly after 5:30 PM."

  • "By no means deluxe but good fish even if menu uninspiring."
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "Food was just okay. Prices reasonable. Big, open warehouse feel with a large fish tank that the kids will love. I might return for lunch, but wouldn't go back for dinner, unless I was taking the grandkids out for dinner."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "The food was good, the service was good, the restaurant is nice, but only good. With so many options close by, I needed it to be better than good."

  • "I have been coming here for 20 yrs! love the Steak and Lobster special! My 4 sisters treat me out to dinner on my Birthday and this is my special choice they love it too!"

  • "Classic seafood not inventive or adventurous. Very well prepared and very fresh. If you are looking for that style this is the place. We went for lunch and it was just what we wanted."

  • "My husband and I chose to celebrate Valentine's Day (a day early) to avoid the crowds. We were seated per our requested location and had a good meal. The food and service are consistent and worth the 90min drive. We were happy with our choice and experience. The went on for a walk by the beach!"

  • "Classic fish forward spot near SB's waterfront. Energetic bar scene, multiple daily fresh fish selections and the nautical decor one expects right down to the large salt water fish tank. Local rockfish fresh entree excellent. Handled dairy allergy issues without hassle. Loud enough and interesting enough to hold kids attention and prices are reasonable. Would recommend."

  • "The food is always fantastic. We also love to watch the fish swim in the big tank. Great food."

  • "The bisque and chowder were rich but enjoyable. But all 8 of the people in my party were disappointed with the main course. The risotto was pure butter, the seafood Louis was watered down all tomatoes and iceberg, the tacos had the smallest piece of fish in them, and the crabcakes were unbeatable because of some sort of mayo addition. Service was extremely slow and awkward because our group was pushef into a corner that required and half had to lift have to plates to the other people of the party."

  • "This was our first time visiting Santa Barbara and we wanted a restaurant close to our hotel. This place was recommended by the staff at the hotel, and they did not disappoint. The food was very good and the portions were huge! My husband had the skewered prawns and he got 12 large, meaty, well-seasoned prawns. I had the parmesan-crusted sole, and three good size pieces were on the plate. If we are in Santa Barbara again, we would definitely return!"

  • "We were passing through Santa Barbara looking for a lunch stop with good seafood. We used TripAdvisor to find it. Parking was easy and it is right off the highway. The fish is fresh and delicious. Very casual place. Prices were good for the quality. We really enjoyed it. Bury it."

  • "Awesome desserts if you are a "dessert person" (I'm not). Good wine list. Very loud! Very hard to listen and talk, even at a window table. Good, friendly service. Great location."

  • "More expensive than I would hope, but the food is outstanding. Fish here is always cooked just right. Had the dover sole...perfect. I highly recommend. It can get busy at times and service can be a little slow, but overall very friendly wait staff"

  • "I really enjoyed my lunch at the Enterpirse. I have been coming here for years with my family but dined alone on this occasion. The food and service were great. My server Olivia could not have been nicer. The lobster bisque with puff pastry my favorite and always worth waiting for."

  • "This restaurant has some of the best seafood and fresh fish in Santa Barbara. Their Lobster Bisque is too die for. I go there just for that! They also have a great happy hour with great fresh clams. Highly recommend!"

  • "After a very long day of travel to get to Santa Barbara, we decided to eat early and noticed that EFC had Happy Hour specials starting at 4:00pm. Everything we shared off the small bites menu was fabulous -- calimari, mesquite grilled artichokes, veggie pot stickers, Hawaiian Poke! The next night we went back to eat in the dining room -- best Cioppino I've ever eaten (albeit messy, they give you a shell bucket, bib, extra napkins and warm towel at the end). Wine list was excellent. Despite the place being packed and bustling, the service was excellent. A must eat place when visiting SBA."

  • "On each of our last two visits to Santa Barbara, we have eaten at Enterprise Fish Company. Delicious food, good service, reasonably priced -- after all it is a fish restaurant in a pricey town. We will go again just hope I can bring myself to order something besides the miso glazed bass --- yummy."
