A word from Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara
Just a few blocks from the waterfront, our restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.

Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.

This is our "go to" restaurant when we come to Santa Barbara every three weeks for business. Even when we have stayed longer for conferences, we will eat multiple nights at this place. The restaurant has four keys for success. Great atmosphere, comptetative prices, fantastic food, and outstanding employees who have a sense of urgency, and treat you like family. It's worth the hour and a half drive to come up for dinner after work, and then stay overnight. We cannot say enough nice things about this restaurant and staff. Can't wait to come up again in two weeks. Eric is one of the best waiters we have ever had. The lobster special is a great deal. Ask to sit by the aquarium.

The service was good. The server was fun and personable. The food, however, was hit and miss. On the 'hit' side were the tasty appetizers, drinks, and the baskets of warm bread and butter. Also, the birthday lady loved her fish tacos, so that was good! The 'misses' were the bland shoestring fries served with the dry cheeseburger, and the no-taste salmon that I was served. The cooked consistency of the salmon was good, but the salmon itself had no flavor. In addition, the clam chowder was lumpy and had no fluidity to it.

If you live or are planning a visit to Santa Barbara, CA, you truly need to eat at this incredible restaurant! Having traveled and eaten in restaurants all over the world, this restaurant is a GREAT as it gets; tremendous menu, service, bar scene, and a wonderful beach city vibe throughout the restaurant. The Sea Bass, and claim chowder are a MUST!

If you're looking for a good seafood restaurant but don't want to pay the extremely high prices, this is you're spot. I would give this place a 4 out of 5, only because of the cheesy decorations. It's kind of like a Joe's Crab Shack inside. Good food though.

We typically have excellent food here and this is our favorite restaurant, however this year's birthday celebration was a bust! We had the lobster which is always wonderful, but the swordfish was thin, dry and a terrible sauce that was sour. So disappointed!

Weekend trip to Santa Barbara for my wife's birthday planned on late notice. Friday night is busy so most places were full. We were able to get into the Enterprise Fish Market even though they were very busy. She thought the ambiance was energetic but I felt the place was noisy and touristy (what else do you expect near the wharf). The crab cakes were very good... mostly crab with no filler! The grilled Brussel sprouts were also very tasty. My wife loved her cioppino. My halibut was a disappointment as it was very dry. My wife like the restaurant very much, which is most important because it was her birthday.

I didn't know the Enterprise had such good food! Came with a party of 6, no wait for food, and good service. Most of us hadn't been there in years (20 years, for me) don't know if they have a new chef, or what, but the seafood was insane, from the skewered scallops (a generous portion, of well sized scallops) to the fish, super flavorful. The Best Boston Clam chowder I perhaps, have EVER had. The salad eaters were totally jealous. salads were standard (packaged croutons). I also loved the thick sliced, warm, sourdough, but the girl from South Dakota wasn't into it so much. I don't know if that was a regional preference or not.

We found this restaurant a few years ago when visiting in Santa Barbara, and have made numerous return trips. We live in So Cal and have also been to the Santa Monica location since it is closer to our home. We have taken friends and relatives to the Santa Monica location, and they have all walked out satisfied. We were in Santa Barbara this past weekend, made reservations for 6:45, but arrived at 6:15, and were seated immediately. Much praise for the staff. Only wished they served sand dabs!

This place is a very cute restaurant that's always busy, and very delicious. My husband and I have chosen this place to celebrate birthdays, new jobs, and just a random date night, and we haven't ever been disappointed. The server may be busy due to the amount of customers, so he or she might not be able to check up on you as often as you'd like, but the workers are extremely friend, the food's fantastic, and it has a vibrant, energetic feel. I'd recommend making a reservation, as it tends to get crowded.

Very good restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara for seafood. I highly recommend the lobster bisque. It's worth the trip just for that! I also had the parmesan halibut which was fresh from Alaska. Very tasty. This restaurant is noisy and crowded, which is not surprising for a popular restaurant.

Have not been to the Enterprise in a long time (don't know why) but I was very happy we rediscovered it. They have an extensive menu, something for everyone. We had the chowder and it was great! I see they have lunch specials, which looked great, although no one at our table ordered from that section. The Shrimp and Crab Louie was a very generous portion. Three of us ended up taking to go containers - so that tells you they have ample portions. We will definitely go back soon!

This was a trip for our 35th anniversary. It was the third restaurant we tried in Santa Barbara. If we had gone to Enterprise first we wouldn't have seen the others. We are already planning a train trip from the Long Beach area for dinner at Enterprise. The food was beyond outstanding, the service fantastic and the ambiance was really nice. Great place. Highly recommend it.

We go to Enterprise very often but Sunday was a disappointment. We have noticed that it gets uncomfortably warm when the restaurant is crowded...and it was. In addition, we ordered the ahi tuna which we had to send back. It was overcooked and rubbery....a first at Enterprise. Enterprise is one of our go-to places in Santa Barbara and we will return.

We went to Enterprise because we were looking for a historical spot with seafood to meet friends up from the San Fernando Valley. What a great surprise! Gorgeous old building. Fun decor, very well done. We were there early and had a reservation so we were very happy with our table. Not all of the seating is desirable. Tables very close together, lively bar scene and a fairly high noise level. We were good because of the table we had away from the bar and in a window. We had the Ceviche, oysters on the half shell, swordfish, Cioppino and the Dover Sole. Everyone was more than happy with their food. The sole was perfect and the grilled vegetables excellent. We will go back.

Enterprise offers the best value for seafood in Santa Barbara. I've heard that people rave about the happy hour appetizers and drinks here but only feel the food is only mediocre. I disagree. While the seafood is not fancy (don't expect heavy sauces or delicate preparation), it is fresh and reasonably priced. If you stick with the basics and appreciate simple, grilled seafood, then you will enjoy the food here. My favorites are the basa swai and swordfish, and you can never go wrong with the lobster or king crab. Also, you can't beat the weekday special of 2 lb. lobster for $32.

We went on a Friday night which was probably our mistake. We had reservations so we were seated immediately, fortunately. Getting into the restaurant through the bar crowd was difficult. We were seated with a view of the kitchen which my husband enjoyed as he is the cook in the family. Conversation was impossible because of the noise. I had the lobster bisque soup which was great! The rest of our meal was just so so. My risotto was gummy. The best part of the whole time we were there was the waitress-she was charming! There was no parking other than on the street about 3 blocks away. It was a difficult walk for my husband who has a bad back.

We were traveling up the California central coast and I picked this place when we were in Santa Barbara because it seemed to have the more extensive seafood list when compared to some of the other waterfront restaurants. Enterprise did not disappoint. We were seated right away. Our food and wine was excellent. I had the halibut and it was the best seafood dish I had on our trip. The family was also impressed with their desserts.

i'm no stranger to the term MARKET PRICE, but, when three people order the crab legs, a small portion i'll add, although it was very delicious, it was a little shocking to see that that slab of crab was $60, times 3. $180 for 3 orders of crab legs. the server was really rude and i suggested when an item is almost 3 times the price of any other menu item, it would be a nice gesture to warn the customer. but i was just told "well, you didn't ask so i didn't tell you. next time ask if you want to know" which was the most communication we had with him the entire night. i'll probably not return as i can spend $300 someplace that will appreciate the money more. this place didn't seem to care.
