It wasnt just salty food, it was death defyingly salty! The kale ceaser, a healthy idea was ruined by salt, as was a perfectly cooked and trimmed beautiful cut ny strip steak, ruined. Ive been drinking water for three days and i still taste the salt! Go have a drink, but don't eat!

Our cheerful waitress brought us all beers - they have a decent selection (sixteen!) of interesting draft beers, and I enjoyed my Hop Swap IPA. After finding of that the portion of onion rings was a little small, I ordered two for the three of us. They were lightly battered and fried to a crispy crunch. Our burgers (burgers form the backbone of the menu) were excellent. There was a Hot Fire, accented by a habanero sauce, A slow-cooked BBQ Brisket, shredded but served hamburger style, with great, fresh potato salad on the side. My Smoked Beef Burger, featuring a slice of local tomato and a zingy garlic aioli sent me to my happy place. Engine Room will become one of our regular haunts in Mystic.Special Features:

My wife has the smoked corn & seafood chowder which was fresh, flavorful and excellent. My Fried squid, jalapenos, and garlic butter aioli was awesome and unique. The burger I had was top shelf and my wife's brisket sandwich was flavorful. Unfortunately we could not 100% appreciate these since they weren't hot which brings me to my only negative. Our waitress was not attentive enough and there was a delay between our apps and entrees. The food had been standing for a few minutes showing the delay was due to a lapse of service; not timing in the kitchen. I wonder how great the overall experience would have been if the entrees were hot. We'll be back!!Special Features:

Despite this it took forever to get our app ( half avocado) and then ANOTHER 40 minutes after that to get a brisket sandwich and a mushroom burger. The food was delicious when it finally did arrive. My family is in the restaurant biz and I am a very laid back customer, but the combination of an inattentive waitress and a slow kitchen was too much. Honestly my wait would have been a hell of a lot more bearable with more than the one cocktail I was able to order. Everyone gets backed up once in a while, but it was actually comical watching our waitress studiously avoiding us. Waitstaff was lined up waiting for orders while customers were totally ignored.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

Our waitress was attentive but it took over 30 minutes to get our food. The food was OK but nothing to rave about. The restaurant seemed to be a popular meeting place for the younger set. This was the best restaurant meal my wife and I have had in some time. The ribeye steak was flawless. All food is fresh from local sources and an open kitchen made for a unique experience. We literally watched our food preparation start to finish. Including the slicing of the ribeye. Great find in small town!!Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

Both of our sandwiches were very tasty twist on favorites and were very plentiful And the fries were crispy instead of the usual soggy you get other places. The categories may sound like bar food i.e. burgers, sandwiches, bar bites, but everything on the menu is innovative and far from ordinary. My smoked pork burger was delicious and the fried calamari was some of the best I've ever had. We also had the sinfully amazing bacon fat caramel popcorn! The craft beer and bourbon selections are impressive and the 2 bourbon-based cocktails I had were distinctive and wonderful. I had originally made the reservation for 4 adults but our baby sitter canceled so we took the kids along. We did have an early dinner reservation but the laid-back atmosphere was very kid friendly. It was like sitting in an old industrial warehouse. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Myself and another guest got special made drinks from the bartender and they were strong and delicious. My favorite appetizer was the hummus with fried chick peas on top and served with warm pita bread (just like how it should be served!). My boyfriend got the pulled brisket sandwich which he enjoyed. I ordered the NEW mushroom Mae burger and it was great. I ordered it medium and it was cooked to perfection, still juicy too. The couple ordered the BLT and the pork burger. Great place.
