  • "Everything about it was great. Ambience, attentive happy staff and food to crave. The Cobb salad coupled with the cornbread with maple butter makes me plan my next visit. So much to try. People next to us raving and asking about our choices and they were not foodies. The food appeals to everyone. Thank you for being, we desperately need some awesome casual food."

  • "We went for a view.......were a bit disappointed on that front. However, the food is great. Keep in mind that this is primarily pub fare....but it takes it up a notch. Smoked burger as well as the brisket were among the best we've ever had. Staff is very nice and attentive. Overall the Engine Room has a nice vibe. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Fabulous fun ambiance, great for a date night or a fun night with friends. Interesting food, fun burger selection and apps. We tried the Caramel Bacon Fat Popcorn- yummy! Excited to go back with my guy and try a few other choices and one of the great beers!"

  • "Great to bring a fun new place to Mystic - I love the theme - what this area needed."

  • "Second visit here was on a weeknight....place was pretty busy for off season. Appetizers, beer and whiskey are the star attractions. Trendy food options. Burgers and sandwiches taste good but sort of skimpy portions for the price. Fun, loud atmosphere and great job renovating the space. Service was great, with friendly smiling hostess and waitstaff. Nice big bar space with lots of room. Try it !"

  • "Love this place... burgers are pricey but mighty tasty... and their beer, wine and whiskey lists are first rate. Great to have a restaurant with decor that _doesn't_ recall Mystic's seaport past ... it's upscale and trendy, open but with cozy spots too. The only joint like this on the Stonington side of the Mystic River... finally!!"

  • "Great!! Owned by the same people as the oyster club, the engine room has fantastic food and a warm rustic ambience. Love it!"

  • "Quality farm-to-table fresh ingredients with a unique twist on comfort food & a hint of Southern cuisine. Burgers - of course! - but don't miss the bacon caramel popcorn (!) and nobody should put the creamy cheddar grits in the corner! Nicely curated selection of spirits and a great rotating selection of craft beers from a funky centerpiece bar tap system in a lively, upscale modern pub atmosphere with an open kitchen, rich wood, exposed brick & stone and mood lighting. May now be adding late night DJs, maybe other entertainment? Perfect for a lively, casual night out & seem to stay active later than other Mystic spots -- atmosphere is usually beyond intimate table conversation, but spot on for upbeat mood & groups. Totally recommend."

  • "I have been going to the Engine Room since its soft opening in January. This time I brought good friends from work. My one friend who always eats very healthy fare was shocked and dismayed when she was first told that there would be a $2 charge to change from french fries to spinach and then it was upped to $5. She settled for the cobb salad but it wasn't her choice. Needless to say, we won't be returning any time soon for food. How disappointing."

  • "I've been to the Engine Room several times since it has opened and each time I've been very happy with both the food and the service. It's exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic needs. The upscale casual atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to meet and dine with family and friends."

  • "The Engine Room has become our go-to place in downtown Mystic. Great food, tremendous beer selection, and excellent service. Be sure to make a reservation!"

  • "Engine Room is an interesting addition to the local Mystic restaurant scene. It is a "beer destination" with a large, rotating selection of craft brewed beers - both on tap and bottled - and a knowledgeable wait staff. The space itself is an uber-cool re-utilization of a small seaside warehouse. There's a lot of weathered wood lining the interior and you can sit in the bar area or over around the hot line, watching the cooks ply their craft. I found the food to be average - at best - and overpriced. I had a Smoked Beef burger and my friend the French Onion burger. Both were served on a great onion role that served to mask any other flavors the menu implied - that is to say her burger and mine tasted the same once past that bun."

  • "Lovely décor-very warm and comfortable. Food outstanding with a wide range of drinks/cocktails to chose from."

  • "Up to a few short months ago, it was unimaginable that a restaurant like The Engine Room would open in Mystic, CT. The people who brought us Mystic Oyster Club now privilege us with The Engine Room. The food is outstanding. The burgers and sandwiches are so good that I have yet to make it to the main entrees. You must try the Roast Beef sandwich: to say it is tender is an understatement. Desserts are perfect toppers after an outstanding meal. But the starters are the star of the menu: avocado with bacon, popcorn with bacon and caramel, the gouda plate...I could go on. And don't forget about the rotating beer selections...plus the whisky...the bourbon. Get a sitter and come for a fantastic meal! You won't be disappointed."

  • "Heard a lot about how good the restaurant was but was disappointed. I ordered a burger, but it could only be prepared well done, medium or rare. Seriously?? I ordered medium, but it was definitely well done. It tasted ok, but was somewhat tough. Definitely not the top of my go-back-to list."

  • "Went to the Engine Room based on reviews and word of mouth. This converted building from its glory days as a New England Engine business was done well. We ate in the dinning room which was OK, however I would next want to try the pub area which looked cool with its high back leather booths and large bar with an an old school engine in the center of the beer taps. We all had the burgers which were marvelous using local farm and other supplies from Connecticut. I had an Imperial Stout which was fantastic. Highly recommend you and your family and friends go and check out this well done restaurant / pub."

  • "We had a 7PM reservation--finally seated at 8:15--altho we were served rounds of drinks on the house--not sure what happened there. No place to sit either--we stood the whole time. the burgers were salty--the buns great! As was the appetizer of the popcorn.. definately a bar that happens to serve burgers- loud and lively--probably better for the younger set--"

  • "First time at this restaurant. Loved the burgers, sandwiches and beer. Loved the extensive beer and cider list. Will certainly return."

  • "They have done a wonderful job with the decor, rustic but comfortable and interesting. The staff was friendly and attentive, but most important to the beer lovers in our group they knew their beer. The beers were different and interesting. It was nice that they would bring you a taste of a beer because there were some strange sounding names. The hamburgers and fries were gourmet and good. Had to try the fried chicken to see if it was really worth $23. It was very good but not sure it was worth that. Next time I would stick to the hamburgers, like the rest of my group."

  • "Engine Room is a great and inexpensive alternative to the pricier Mystic restaurants. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. Fantastic french fries. There were some interesting beers on tap, though not all were available the night we dined there, and they seemed a bit too high in price for draft beer. Not a big deal, though, and we would definitely return."

  • "Engine Room was a very enjoyable experience. I love the design of the place- casual and industrial with an open kitchen, but with a classy feel and perfect lighting. The service is spectacular and the menu selection speaks for itself. High quality, local food, great unique cocktails, and the widest array of whiskey I've ever seen in one place. We started with the roasted beet appetizer, and it was a bit of a flat start (served cold, I would have preferred it warm) but the burgers to follow were certainly in keeping with the standard set by the famous Oyster Club burger. The mistake I made was in not ordering the Hot Fire burger, but my French Onion burger was amazing just the same. Dessert was AMAZING- lemon tart. Get it!"

  • "This was my second time eating here and I enjoyed both times just the same! Our waiter was friendly and really connected with us during our dining experience. The food was great and everyone could not stop talking about it on our drive home. I continually mention your restaurant to friends and family! Thank you for a great dinner and a fantastic experience!"

  • "We shared the starters of beets and goat cheese and the steak tartare. Fabulous, sweet Stonington scallop entrees were the from the daily special menu. Fresh, with awesome, buttery, creamy sauce and sautéed spinach. Ken, our waiter, graciously accommodated request of no added salt. THANK YOU! Fun, but short wine list. We already made our next reservation!"

  • "limited menu, but what they offer they do well. prices are on the high side for what you get ($13 for a cheese burger), but it's the best tap beer selection in town. beautiful renovation of an old brick factory right in downtown Mystic with on-site parking. Outside deck for summer dining."

  • "Maybe it's just because they are new and have an inexpirenced staff. Maybe they will come around. It all had to do with the service. The food and prices were good. Not much variety yet. The service was very slow. The bartenders must be inexpirenced. They kept sending the waitress over to me to ask what the contents of my basic drink that i ordered. I ordered a sombreo (kalula and milk). Waiterss said they didn't know how to make it. She came back for a second time to confirm because the bartenders couldnt agree on the ingredients. I guess it's just a beer joint with a large selection. When i got my check it showed a tequila drink. Nice atmosphere. Very noisy."

  • "Loved the steak. It had to be the best I've had in a very long time. Can't wait to go back & try one of their burgers."

  • "The menu is a bit limited, but we tried several appetizers and different sandwiches within our group and every item was outstanding! The pastrami was fabulous; excellent quality, very flavorful, and rich tasting served with chicken liver pate. The brisket appetizer was so delicious we tried it as a sandwich - also fabulous. Also good reviews on the roast beef and the burgers. And what's not to like about bacon fat caramel popcorn as an appetizer, except that it's addictive! The scotch, bourbon, and beer lists are unique with numerous options to try. The decor and the bar area are well-done and fun to enjoy for a drink or a meal. This is a great choice for comfort food and a good bar, and will definitely be going back soon."

  • "The Engine Room is the best thing that's happened to downtown Mystic in a long time. Food, service, atmosphere . . . all first-rate. Best beer selection around. Get there if you can. And reservations are a must on the weekends."

  • "There was a good energy to the place with people all around seeming to enjoy themselves. Food is casual but nice quality. Service was friendly and attentive. A bit noisy, but still a relaxed atmosphere. for a new place they seem to have their act down pretty well."

  • "Cool n general. Food was good. No basic burgers (ex. BBQ, Bacon, cheese w/lettuce, tomato). Service off from the start & went downhill. Ordered different beers & he switched them when he served them. Didn't realize until other person drank half the beer, so I lost out there. Glasses remained empty-never asked if we'd like another beer. Waitstaff never returned until they asked if we wanted dessert; we wanted more beer! Busboy tried to take my meal away (barely eaten) as I talked. Tried to do it again later...too attentive. Waiter nonexistent. Wine list had no details, unlike beer list. Never did see a dessert menu... Checked out bar are before leaving. It was hopping."

  • "The Engine Room is a comfy large open spec with a whole different feel to it. The food is great and as it is a new place, new dishes are in the offing all the time. One curiosity is that it is probably the only restaurant in a Mystic to not have a fish dish. Staff is great, know many from other places around here. Bourbon and beer selection is huge."

  • "Engine Room and it's sister restaurant, Oyster Club, are absolutely the best in town. No worries about quality of food at these places…it's all top-notch and interestingly prepared!"

  • "The specialty at this brand new Mystic restaurant is burgers. They feature locally sourced grass-fed beef with lots of interesting combinations of condiments. A lively bar scene with plenty of parking which is a bonus in this coastal conn. tourist town. A little loud for groups, but that's what you get with a happening bar scene."

  • "While Mystic, CT, is a great tourist attraction with award winning restaurants [like the best upscale restaurant in CT in 2013 = The Oyster Club], Mystic's newest attraction -- the Engine Room -- promises to be another great hit. It is casual with a fun crowd, outstanding burgers, bourbon and beer. The bar scene is hot, but a glass divider keeps the noise out of the dining area. There is a party table for bigger groups and the 'foodies' can sit at the kitchen bar and watch the cooks do their thing. Altogether great! I will be back again."

  • "we could hardly converse with our tablemates. way way too noisy. and although the food tasted good going down, the fries and hamburger were over salted and too greasy. I had a terrible stomach ache after eating here."
