The service was fabulous and the food was even better. Excellent food , wonderful service. Had to do a doubletake upon the first bite of porterhouse , just to be sure I wasn't in the famous Brooklyn steakhouse!Very similar in many ways in some cases BETTER!Ceasar salad done very well. Baked clams superb.Creamed spinach very very good. Home fries were excellent , not over done nor over seasoned. Staff was very accomidating & not over bearing . I dare even say priced quite reasonably,especailly for a steakhouse. If I could afford it , would eat here weekly , will settle for monthly ! Sliced beefsteak tomato's and fresh mozzarella were out of this world. Where do they find these tomato's in April? Porterhouse for three was perfect. Dessert, chocolate mousse pie with Oreo cookie crust was pure decadence. So creamy and rich. Service was attentive and first rate. Prompt, courteous and helpful, never rushed. Decided to go here rather than 21 because jackets not required. We were impressed by the $29 prix fixe menu but it was too much food! so we shared a Ceasar salad and each had the crab cake appetizer. Both dishes were well prepared and very good. So as expected the food was outstanding. Service was very good if a little overbearing from the captain. The restaurant was very busy and very noisy which for me is less desirable then the Ben and Jacks I go to on 5th Ave. However with that said I will go to Empire if I am uptown for its outstanding steak.12/7/2012 12:00:00 AM
