We'd seen the sign outside for a little while and we've always wondered about the place. So this was the chance to check it out. The owner was part of the team that served us. Everyone was very pleasant and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is a bit of a country casual cafe. We had a late breakfast and the food good. I had the Benedict and my wife had half an order of the same. Both nicely done All in all a place I would recommend for a peaceful meal in a place you can actually chat while dining. Great service and good food. We'll be going back.

  • Cute but menu needs a special dish

Very cute little spot in North Scottsdale, with a nice rustic vibe. The menu was pretty short and the waitress didn't seem too enthusiastic about the offerings. This place could use a signature dish with some flair. The food was okay but nothing special. Maybe the dinners and breakfasts offer better choices.

The food is very good but lacks in little things. No cloth napkins only paper. The bread is really good but but the butter is served in little packets like a Denny's. The waitress did not offer us coffee or dessert after our entrees but just brought us the bill.

After being ignored by the waitress for 20 minutes, was served a Beef Bourguignon that was inedible because the meat was so tough. They also ran out of the one Pinot Noir on the menu at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Inexcusable!

Emily's Cafe is that quiet family run place that you go to when you want to be able to hear what your dinner companions are saying. The service is friendly and the food is excellent. Can also be an intimate place for a date night. The prices are reasonable so overall Emily's Cafe is an excellent choice.

Went for dinner. Upon arriving there were two other tables. Service very slow -- we were told they couldn't take our order as they had just given the chef an order from a table for two and chef asked she take no more orders until that order was out. Not a very extensive menu and food was so so. Went through two loaves of bread while waiting for our order to be taken -- about an hour after arrival.

I had the best tuna (very fresh and tender) nicoise. The asparagus was crisp and delicious and the potato salad had a great taste. My husband had a chicken dish which he also enjoyed very much.

We had a great dining experience. The only negative comment deals with the menu. The menu is very limited, which is OK, but the night we were there, two entrees were eliminated from the menu and one entree was sold out. Because of this, I was forced to try something other than my first 2 choices...but, the salmon turned out to be a great find. I can't wait to go back when the menu is complete.

Emily's has a charming, homey and relaxed atmosphere paired with truly delicious and interesting food prepared with care by the owner-chef. Tortilla soup was excellent as was a delicious Niçoise salad prepared with Ahi Tuna. Would suggest offering bottled water as the "tap" water has an afte taste possibly attributable to chlorination. Wine list is limited and server's should be more familiar with recommendations and pairings.

I've been to Emily's Café about 6 times this summer - it has become our neighborhood "go to" gem. The atmosphere is warm and friendly - very casual. Menu has a lot of diversity (altho I order the eggplant parmesan almost every time as it is FABULOUS - very lite, thinly sliced eggplant that does not taste breaded, w/cheese, and a super tasty chunky tomato sauce). Portions are not too small or too large - and the reasonable prices make it an excellent value. Service has always been prompt and attentive. The owner and her staff make an effort to have customers feel welcome and comfortable. We've been there for brunch, lunch and dinner - food for all three meals is made to order and consistently has been flavorful and well-prepared.

I loved everything but how slow the service was. Our waitress was slow and inexperienced. Sweet but slow. It wasn't busy but with lack of kitchen staff and wait staff everything took to long.
