A word from Emilio's Tapas - Sol Y Nieve
You'll be tempted by the tapas at this Streeterville eatery, from the team behind Emilio's (other location include Hillside). Its name means sun and snow, and the Spanish specialist serves a wide range of hot and cold choices, including grilled shrimp with garlic lemon butter sauce, baked goat cheese in tomato sauce, paella, among other fabulous tapas. The wine list features more than 60 choices, many available by the glass. The restaurant features colorful murals, tile mosaics and iron light fixtures. During summer time its patio is the perfect place to relax and enjoy great tapas and sangria.Continued

  • "An evening of slow, succulent, small-plate dining at Emilio's has been a non-negotiable item on the itinerary during my past two - my only two! - visits to Chicago. The analeptic perfume of garlic, cured cheese, smoked and grilled meat, and aromatic olive oil; the sprightly hum of conversation; and the diffuse amber glow of the restaurant instantly wrap you in a cocoon of contented benevolence from which you emerge, hours later, footloose and carefree. A nibble of this, a pinch of that...you cannot go wrong. There are plates for every mood and palate, so the meal can evolve to complement the vibe of the evening. Should you have any doubts, just ask the expert waitstaff. It is an experience not to be missed!"

  • "I visited Emilio's during a weekend in the city. The place is warm and friendly. It's not quiet, but wasn't overwhelmingly noisy ether. The service was great and the waiter have wonderful recommendations. The star of the night was the marinated flank steak on a potato pancake stuffed with blue cheese, sitting on wilted spinach."

  • "I have been to the Hillside location of Emilio's and absolutely loved it. The River North location did not disappoint! We tried a few of the tapas calientes and got an order of some paella. Everything was delicious! I'll definitely be going back!"

  • "a great dining experience. A wide variety of delicious tapas, well prepared and brought quickly to the table. Service very helpful and considerate. Plate sizes generous and easily shareable."

  • "There was nothing wrong with Emilio's Tapas - the food was fine - it just wasn't what I expected. When I think of tapas, I think of lots of small plate options on the menu, at relatively low prices. Emilio's has a few of what I would call tapas, but it was mostly larger dishes. What I had was fine, but not particularly memorable. Probably wouldn't go back."

  • "Emilio's remains a good option in Streeterville for tapas. We went with a allege group for lunch. The food was good, service great, and a good value."

  • "From the time we walked in to the time we left we had the best overall experience! The staff at every turn was prompt and attentive. The food was amazing! We had dates wrapped in bacon, flights of sherry and hand dipped fresh raspberry truffles. YUM!!! Stop reading and make a reservation and go it is worth every penny and more."

  • "This restaurant has great ambience. The lighting is low to make you feel a little cozy and it great for a date night. The wine/drink list was pretty extensive, with bottles and glasses available. I love tapas, especially when I'm not hungry for huge portions but still want a variety of tastes. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS! our server was also really helpful in explaining certain dishes or making recommendations (on food choice and how to order our selections). I would highly recommend this place!"

  • "Whenever we have guests from out of town, Emilo's is our "go to" favorite Great fun, great food, great ambiance, and sharing tapas among friends is a grand experience With a party comprised of 4 or 5 people, we can order 10 to 12 diverse "small plate" dishes - reliable standbyes like dates wrapped in bacon and grilled octopus and also try a range of from the special's menu and choices we haven't sampled before. While there are plethoria of new restaurants in Chicago, Emilio's remains worthy of repeat visits as it never fails to afford a very pleasant dining experience."

  • "Great location just off Michigan and near navy pier. Service was wonderful and food was excellent. The flight wine (3 2-oz glasses) was top notch. Loved the eggplant with goat cheese small plate and their signature garlic potato salad. We ate there for Christmas eve and it was an outstanding (and surprisingly inexpensive) experience."

  • "This was a Birthday celebration with a group of 8. We picked it based on location and reviews. We all enjoyed the experience. Food choices were interesting and different, with very delicious flavors and combinations. Prices were appropriate for the quality and portion size. I would choose this place again and recommend to friends. Only draw back for us, the price of the Sangria pitchers....much too expensive!"
    Dined on 9/28/2013
  • "We enjoyed our small plate experience. Our servers were very attentive and food was served promptly. Two of shared 5 tapas plates and 2 sangrias for 85.00 for dinner. It was fun to order as the meal progressed. The flank steak and chicken and Serrano ham croquettes were our favorites."
    Dined on 11/23/2013
  • "The food was distinctly mediocre and not according to the classic recipes. The sangria was bland, And they did not record us as having shown up, so we got a nagging email from Opentable."

  • "What a treat to find this lovely little tapas restaurant just off Michigan Ave. The service was attentive and the food was great; best tapas I have had in awhile. The quiet, comfortable atmosphere is that of a neighborhood restaurant that locals frequent. It was a welcome change from the crowded, touristy places on Michigan Ave. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Chicago."
