Emilio's Tapas - Sol Y NieveFood quality is fantastic.Food quality is fantastic. Fresh ingredients make for memorable tastes. Great experience for groups!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMnice varietyWe have had tapas several times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Emilio's. Server was very nice and there was a great variety of dishes to choose from and each and every one was delicious from the "usual" - garlic potato salad to the unusual - a combination of artichokes, olives, garlic and onion on toasted bread. Sangria was delicious as well.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood FoodThis was a great place. The server was very nice and brought things out as they were ready. It was a small group of 4 and we went for an early dinner. We ate inside and it was quiet. We were able to hear each other talk.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with a group if 5. OrderedWent with a group if 5. Ordered 8 tapas for all of us to share. The cold tapas were a bigger hit than the hot tapas we chose. The seafood paella was awesome! It was a very large portion. We ordered it for two and there was plenty for all 5 of us to have a large sample. I would definitely return to this restaurant when I'm in town again. Loved it!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest tapas!Great food, ambience, and service! Definitely will go again when I'm back in the Chicago area!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful PlaceThe atmosphere was very welcoming and the food was very authentic to Spain.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome TapasGreat food and service was outstanding. The only problem was a family that was allowing their little girl to run around the restaurant and was bothering all the guest. They could not control her. The restaurant should of asked them to leave.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent TapasWe have gone here many times, and the food never disappoints. It is our favorite tapas restaurant in the city. The food is all flavorful, and the paella is great.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time to Emilio's andSecond time to Emilio's and it was just as good as I remember! Very attentive & helpful staff, without being too intrusive or pushy. Food was really good, too. I love the variety!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOld faithfulOutside dining was delightful. More than enough items on the main menu plus a great specials list. Sauteed artichokes with ham and peppers was incredible. A great tapas restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe waiter was very helpfulThe waiter was very helpful in suggesting the right number of tapas plates for the two of us.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas done rightZagat states this is the third best tapas restaurant in the Chicago area after Mercat and some Naperville place. Don't be put off by the fact that Emilio's is a "chain" of four restaurants. The Streeterville location is a gem. Lots of the real tapas you get on Casa Bava in Madrid - this is more Spanish tapas than Catalonian: Blood sausage done right. Granted they don't have Belotta jamon but then who in America does besides Zingerman's in Ann Arbor. The prices are acceptable as well. We had a large array of tapas for four people and the bill only about $30/person. Go, have fun and be adventurous in your selections.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGood and quietWe enjoyed eating at Sol y Nieve for Mothers' Day. The food was tasty, the service excellent and the restaurant was quiet enough that we could hear each other talk. Although the tapas could be more moderately priced and a larger selection would have been more appealing, what we ate was very good. The location is also easy to get to with public transportation, an issue for those who don't want to park downtown.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat tapasThree of us went through 7 plates and enjoyed every bite. Our server was very helpful in recommending choices and helping us not to overdo. We wanted to try the paella and she said the serving for one would be enough since we had so many other plates. We appreciated that kind of care for customers!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to Barcelona, SpainWe've been to Barcelona, Spain and Emiilio's tapas would get a better ratting.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday Celebration!Had a large group and they were very accommodating. Great vibe, yummy Sangria and delicious desserts! Great place to try with friends.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good serviceI want to get the one bad thing out of the way first. When we first arrived to the restaurant it was quiet. The noise level was tolerable. The music was slightly above a whisper. It was at the level that you could hear it, easily talk over it and not in the way at all. Then as more people started to show up, there was a conscience decision to turn up the music to a louder level, which then caused the patrons to be louder. At a table of 8, I could successfully hear the people across from me and the one person next to me, but could not hear the people at the other end. For a Tapas/Winebar I expected quieter, which is why I selected. Beyond that, service was phenomenal. The water glass was never empty. Waiter was friendly. 8/10.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentCalamari and shrimp were delish! Wait staff were so nice too Albariño wine was perfect. I will be back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI decided to try this placeI decided to try this place after reading the great reviews. I was craving tapas and wanted a place that took reservations for group. The food was great! Added plus, we didn't have to wait for 2 hours to get a table (unlike some other tapas places I won't mention here). Also, while close to Michigan Ave, it is a local place and you won't find any tourists here. Will definately go back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunchWhat a great experience! Tapas are marvelous. We shared at least a half a dozen of their choices to make a great brunch4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Spot OnThis was my second time to this location; I highly recommend it and during the summer, the patio is the best place in the city for sangria and tapas.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a little on the expensiveIt was a little on the expensive side but it was a lot of fun!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMReally liked the sangria andReally liked the sangria and that they had a gluten free menu.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA real find for Tapas loversThe food and service is consistently very good. Ordering Tapas is great when you can start with a few options, and make new choices later and still get all the food very quickly. There is no long wait to get your Tapas to your table. The food quality is really very good, taste is great and presentation inviting.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience!Great place for dinner. Service is good and the food spectacular. Nice desserts. One of our favorite dining establishments. We eat here when in Chicago.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very friendlyThe staff was very friendly and made great recommendations.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good, aThe food was very good, a lot of variety and the suggestions provided by our waiter were excellent. Not a huge wine-by-the-glass list, which is difficult as the only one drinking wine. The ambiance would have been nicer had there not been a loud, rowdy group of 20 right in the middle of the restaurant. However, that is not the restaurants fault. Overall, the food was excellent and our waiter was very knowledgeable.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst review after severalFirst review after several visits to Emilio's. if weather is good, they have one of the biggest outdoor seating areas in River North area. Each time, they have several tapas specials (get at least two). Their regular offerings are very good, but the special dishes have always surpassed expectations. We usually get the grilled octopus, and it's always tender and never rubbery. The tenderloin with chimichurri sauce was excellent, and it all pairs well with some red sangria. They have several vegetarian options, and our best dish (this trip) was a seafood medley special with white fish, shrimp, and scallops in a delicious sauce. Has become a fav.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was even better thanThe food was even better than I remember and I didn't think that was possible. Wait staff was just the right amount - my friend and I were there for three hours and we never felt rushed. Can't wait to go back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but excellent tapas.Good tapas is hard to find, so this one ranks high up there. It is a bit expensive, so frequent visit is out of the questions. The food is excellent with each dish having its own unique ingredient mix, flavor profile and a wonderful subtle kick that makes it memorable. Definitely worth at least one visit, if not more.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatFantastic food, great service, and excellent entertainment!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time takingThis was our first time taking the kids for Tapas and the waiter made it a very pleasant experience! The food was also very good as I would have expected for Emilios.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our meal at Emilio'sWe enjoyed our meal at Emilio's Tapas Sol y Nieve very much. They have a great selection of tapas for people to share, and the tapas do not come all at once so you don't feel rushed. We especially liked the tortillas a la espanola, champinones rellenos and a tostada with beef and tomato. The service was excellent and the music and atmosphere was relaxing. We would love to return.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, wonderfulDelicious food, wonderful assortment, some unique & unusual dishes.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent tapas and good service.Excellent tapas and good service.
