Diner Reviews
  • "We had a table of eight people, including out-of-town friends with two teenagers. Although the restaurant was out of octopus (disappointing one teen), everything that we ordered was ruled delicious around the table. The paella, which came with a much-appreciated free bottle of wine, took longer than promised to arrive. The waitress not only apologized for the delay but also brought us four free desserts to share. We had not previously tried the desserts because we are always too full, but I will definitely save room next time. "

  • "This is likely the 20th time we have dined at Emilio's and it is always a good choice. Among our favorites are the curry chicken, the bacon wrapped dates, the goat cheese and tomato sauce and the tomato bread cheese and serrano ham. The service is always very good and friendly. i'm not a fan anywhere, but everyone seems to like the sangria here. Desserts are excellent. First choice is the profiterole and the flan is usually very good too."

  • "Service outstanding, decor beautiful like you were in Europe, food phenomenal. A great place for couples, or a group of people out to have a fun night. But please don't bring your children."

  • "We went to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was a great experience. The service was impeccable, the food was very unique and the ambience was great. They put balloons on the table for my friend and sang happy birthday and gave a dessert. By the way the flan was to die for!! Great time all around."

  • "The food was tasty with quite a selection to choose from. We had the fish and vegan paellas. Only problem was the noise level in the dinning room, quite loud as the evening wore on."

  • "We had a 8:30 reservation and were not seated until 9:05. The hostesses barely acknowledged us and had little to offer by way of explanation of why we were waiting so long. Though when we were finally seated, we were apologized to and given a couple complimentary dishes. Overall, enjoyed our dinner, just not the waiting..."

  • "We dined at Emilo's with a 3 adults, 3 teenagers & a baby. My husband and I have ate here many times, but it was a first for my mother in law and the kids. We ordered cold & hot tapas plates and all shared. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. The kids really enjoyed using multiple plates since they have and issue with "food touching". The waiter was attentive to our group and was careful not to place any of the plates in front or around the baby. I was a little nervous that the kids wouldn't enjoy it, but their is something for everyone on the menu."

  • "We have been going to Emilio's for years but hadn't been there in a while. We went Friday evening with two other couples and were happy to see the place was hopping. Glad we made reservations. The food was excellent and our friends loved it. We tried a number of tapas to share including paella, dates, grilled octopus and muscles. Each dish was flavorful and cooked just right. The complimentary tapas were very good too and appreciated. The Sangria, as always was delicious too. The only complaint is the noise level. It was hard to carry on a conversation the whole table could hear."

  • "My wife and I love this place - for its consistently outstanding food, service and the family friendly atmosphere. The Paellas are are favorite - no one makes and serves it better.. Pair that with one of their many tasty appetizers and a selection from their fine winer list, for a perfect dining experience. It is good to have a restaurant of such fine quality in the Western suburbs of Chicago."

  • "I don't agree with the number of stars Emilio's has. I thought the food was fair to good, depending on the dish. For the money, I would go to Meson Sabika or Cafe Babareeba instead."

  • "My wife and I have been coming to Emilio's 2 or 3 times a year for the approx. 25 years they've been here, and we never have a disappointing visit. Staff is always consistently helpful, but even if you pick dishes off the menu at random you could hardly go wrong.. The patatas con alioli is a must (if you like garlic)."

  • "This visit was our fifth time in about two years and we can't get enough of it on how much we enjoy the place. The Paella Valenciana is delicious, the sangria is excellent and the variety of tapas is good. It would be great if they can add or keep more spaniard tapas in the menu. Awesome place! Gracias Emilio for letting us enjoy a piece of Spain in Chicago."

  • "I received a call from Emilio's about 3 hours before my reservation time. Due to abnormally cold temperatures they decided to not open on that day.1-27-14 reservations for 4:30 it was my birthday cellebration with my husband. We were so looking forward to a selection of Tapas, we cellebrated my birthday there about 3 years ago."

  • "I'm from Spain, and this place serves very authentic tapas: the jamón was the real stuff, and the rest is equivalent to what you would get in a Spanish restaurant. I would highly recommend ordering just about anything on the tapas list. Also, they gave us a bunch of complementary tapas, which was great. The sangría was really good too. The only downside is the price, tapas should not be so expensive. The serious drawback, though, is their paella. It wasn't authentic paella in the sense that it was NOT made for the individual tables (so I fail to understand why it takes 45 minutes). The seafood and chicken in it was okay, but the rice was not paella rice: too liquidy, no bottom sticky part. Go to Spain for real paella."

  • "A true Tapas restaurant. Food was great with fresh and exciting flavor combinations. Service was properly paced with the food arriving at the table in a timely manor, neither rushed nor slow. Wait staff was attentive yet did not interrupt the flow of the conversation at the table. I highly recommend it and I will return many times."

  • "Emilio's never let's us down. Great food and service at a very reasonable price. And Emilio himself is always walking around the restaurant.. Best Tappas in town. We waited about 10 minutes for our table and the staff were very conscious of it. They apologized about three times and comped us a glass of champagne. Very well done."

  • "Always some of the best tapas around and if you don't know what to have, just ask your server to bring her favorites and you won't go wrong. We seldom order an entree and just make a meal of the tapas, although they do make a really good paella. They do also have an extensive selection of Spanish wines."

  • "I had forgotten about this terrific restaurant that is also very close to home. Very romantic and delicious food with something for everyone. I love the small portions and sharing. Everyone should eat tapas at least once for the experience!"

  • "Excellent food and the service was wonderful. We had a group with 6 young children and they made us feel very comfortable. They provided bottomless baskets of bread for the kids until their meals arrived, a free appetizer, and 3 fabulous desert puddings also free. Portion, size, and flavor of our main course was all very good as well."

  • "This restaurant is one of the reasons I go back home to visit. The food has always been superb. Every time a new dish comes to the table it is all we talk about. There is not a bad thing on this menu. We also love the fact that we can continue to order and between orders a chefs special will come out which adds more excitement to the meal."

  • "The great thing about tapas is that a group can share several dishes among them and get tastes of many diffferent dishes. Emilios has a wide variety of well-prepared dishes. We have never found a "clunker" there."

  • "We had such a wonderful experience! They sat us immediately. The server Nelson, was so attentive/informative without being obtrusive. The food was outstanding! Can't wait to go back to this restaurant!"

  • "About the only negative thing you can say about tapas in general is that when you find a dish that you really love, you have to share it. This is especially so at Emilio's. I never want to share the bacon-wrapped dates, but it is probably best that I do. Same goes for the beef with caramelized onions, or the curry chicken. The best thing about Emilio's is going back again. You get to order your favorites and also try some new things. I have gone to Emilio's at least two dozen times because each dish is flavorful, the service is great (and friendly), and the food comes piping hot, directly from the kitchen. Now this doesn't mean that I like their potato salad, but I don't like anyone's potato salad, so don't take my word on that."

  • "This was the 2nd time we dined at this restaurant. The first time was just my wife and I. We came with a group of eight this 2nd time. The waitress was very helpful. Having visited once already I can't really say that I felt comfortable ordering from the huge menu even the 2nd time around. Our waitress provided expert assistance, guiding us to mostly very delicious dishes. The bacon wrapped dates were amazing. Nevertheless, this was an amazing night. They had live music and Santa visited this particular night. Note, if you are coming with someone in a large group with a less-than-adventerous palate please make sure to ask for something a bit more conventional. Emilio's will remain one of my go-to places. So much fun all around!"

  • "I've been dining at Emilio's for many years now and whether iit's with family or a girls' night out, it is always a fantastic night! There is something there for everyone, and the food is exceptional. We always order a few dishes, share everything, and then order another round of tapas. Desserts are to die for...along with a pitcher of Sangria! It's an absolute favorite spot! You always see Chef Emilio come out from the kitchen and interact with diners. We were the last ones there the other night...and that's what usually happens. We enjoy the food, wine, dessert and ambience so much we don't want to leave!"
