Emeril's Restaurant OrlandoWish it wasn't in an amusement parkDespite being difficult to get to in Universal City Walk, this is again worth the effort even on a hot humid day. I reserved for 2 and showed up by myself, but they made me feel special from the minute I walked in the door. The service is EXCEPTIONAL and the food is too. Cantaloupe martini was to die for! Gumbo as a starter (with chicken for the non-seafood eaters) and scallops with an awesome red curry cream sauce was the perfect hot day meal. This was a treat for my wife who has had to be a care giver for the last three months, and needed a wonderful memory to forget all the issues from this situation. Well, as expected, the staff, food, and ambiance was outstanding. I need to remember to take her to Emeril's more often to make her week! Culinary staff went out of their way to accommodate a couple of picky eaters in our party. Some staff are very friendly and professional. Our server seemed annoyed to have a group of people who just ordered waters. Only saw him a couple of times. His helpers were more attentive. I hope they received some of the tip. Some items are reasonably priced. Others too high for a family who already put a couple of thousand into a vacation. I think you pay for atmosphere . We weren't very hungry so we sampled two apps and shared an entre. We started with the BBQ shrimp and the calamari. The calamari was prepared perfectly and the blend of olives gave the dish a unique, bright flavor that really compliments the squid. We chose the andouille crusted redfish as our entre. Dining in the room overlooking the Walk is nice (though it's a bit chilly for the ladies, so bring a sweater or wrap).
There were some fantastic dishes here: the chocolate souffle, key lime pie and the creme brulee. Stick to the pork chop and chicken entrees (red fish only ok).
Boston lettuce salad was good too. Oh and the dinner rolls were very tasty.

The service was excellent, the server was attentive and really knew the menu. Coming from Canada, we could not believe how reasonable the prices were! My parents are wine collectors so they really enjoyed the wine list that the restaurant had to offer. The waiters were knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and provided an excellent service. Everyone at my table ordered something different for appetisers and entrees and each dish was delicious. There really is not a bad option.
