I have dined at the Emerald Rose before and have been happy with the food - my husbands steak tips were tough, the nosie level was awful due to large party - perhaps large parties should not be encouraged as we could not carry on conversation with our own party

Food was great and the beer list long. We had a party of 12 or so and only one server. The service was HORRIBLY slow, but I think it was just due to our party size. Groups of 2 to 4 were in and out much faster than we were. I would absolutely go back, and I believe if we mentioned the service it would be much different next time. It seemed like the type of place that would care about these things.

Dining at Emerald Rose is like visiting a good friend who pulls out all the stops to welcome you -- real cloth tablecloth, weighty flatware, homemade soda bread (a must have item with its accompanying sweet butter), plenty of space between tables...and everything is CLEAN! The food has a homestyle taste (for all the right reasons); you won't be getting a completely different set of spices in each component of your plate as everything is prepared to mesh with, and compliment, each other rather than try to blow your mind and tastebuds. Great for families or just a single or couple looking for a great meal. Attentive and friendly service, solid menu, nice surroundings, and no trip to the city! What more could you want?

I've been to Emerald Rose many times and was looking forward to a Mother's Day dinner with my family there. Unfortunately, the service was terrible and it wasn't because of Mother's Day. We waited 30 minutes, despite arriving on time for our reservation. Our server was very inattentive. It took a long time to get drinks. We asked for bread and she never brought it. Our drinks were empty for a long time and we finally had to flag her down just to get refills on water. When the check came, it belonged to another table. The food was good, but the service was poor. Maybe she was new? If so, she had no business waiting tables unsupervised. I have liked Emerald Rose in the past, but it will be a long, long time before I go back.

After a couple of people enjoyed dinner at the Emerald Rose, I decided to take my family there for Mother's Day. The place is kid friendly and staff seemed to enjoy having little ones in. The food was really very good. My table started off with Irish Bread with the house butter sweetened with a hint of Maple. We had the Baked Haddock, Baked Lobster Pie, and two Pan seared Atlantic Salmon with Lobster Risotto. The latter dish was the star offering for sure. We were all very pleased with our dishes. They have an good number of taps. I ordered a "Black and Tan" (Guinness and Bass). I intend to try their late night menu with a few drinks soon. I would highly recommend the Emerald Rose.

We enjoyed our Easter Sunday meal at the Emerald Rose. We arrived for our reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and very attentive. One member of our party had a lamb entree and another had salmon; both were delicious. However, one of our party ordered ham, which he said lacked flavor. Although we sat in the bar, the tables were covered in white tablecloths, so the room looked very attractive. Overall, our dining experience was very pleasant.

Our party of four made our dinner reservation for 7 pm. While waiting in the lobby to be seated, we watched several large, noisy groups enter the dining room. When we were finally seated at 7:35, the noise level in the dining room was quite high. The manager graciously brought a generous assortment of free appetizers and apologized for our wait. Our waitress was also attentive, and the food was very good. This restaurant is not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner, however. The dining room was so loud, that we seriously considered moving to the bar area, which was much quieter!

While my haddock was delicious as usual, the service was lacking. My salad was late to come out and before I was done, my meal arrived. I HATE when that happens. I had to ask for bread and was informed that was the new policy. Ok, but let me know that. I have been here several times and did not have to ask before. My other issue is with the wine glasses. Please get real red wine glasses. The glasses currently being used are way tooo small.

My family and I went to the Emerald Rose in Billerica on 03-16-14 to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We've dined at the Emerald Rose before so we know the quality of the food and drink. Being an Irish restaurant, it was perfect for St. Patrick's day festivities, even a day early. Our party of 5 enjoyed the Bacon Cheddar soup, which was thick, creamy and delicious! Corned Beef sandwiches, the traditional boiled Corned Beef dinner and a chicken dish were and enjoyed! Desserts ordered were, Irish Bread Pudding, which was amazing and a Brownie Sundae. We could hear the band in the bar section but it wasn't overpowering. Giving all the patrons green beads was a nice touch as well! A great time was had by all!

My husband and I tried this place for the first time on a Saturday night. We wish we would have had a better experience. The food was quite good. The service was not. We were put in a tiny booth right behind the hostess stand. The table was annoying because there was constant foot traffic with tables being seated and our conversation was always distracted. Our waitress could hardly be bothered by us at the beginning of the meal. It took from the time we ordered 15 minutes to get our drinks and 40 minutes to get our appetizer. Tables that sat down after us were getting much more quick and attentive service. If we go back here we would get a seat at the bar and dine there. The bartenders seemed friendly and attentive.

The food here was fantastic - rich but not overly so. My guest and I both very much enjoyed it. It was nice ambiance and great for conversation. The only unfortunate part was that our server hadn't been informed that we were her table, so if i hadn't said something, we never would have gotten service. Even after our server came to the table, it did take a long time between visits. I wasn't sure if they were low on staff that night or just took a little longer. I would definitely recommend, but be prepared for a leisurely dinner.

Comfortable atmosphere, tasty food, friendly staff, and great drink/beer menu. Just what my husband and I were looking for with our 3 year old daughter. Menu choices were more on the comfort food side without being heavy or greasy, and they had a decent beer list. Despite having a crowded bar with live music on one side the dining room was pleasantly quiet and cosy. The bar side looked fun though, maybe another time when it's not a family night :) will definitely be returning.
