  • "We were excited to try this hot spot but we had a hard time finding much positive with this experience. The atmosphere was very stark. The restaurant had way too many families with out of control kids and the food was not memorable. Our filet mignon steak was served on a white plate, no garnish and wasn't tender. Red pepper soup and Ahi tuna appetizer was good. Compared to our dinner earlier in the week at Russels Steakhouse, atmosphere, food and service was lacking. Comparing to my birthday meal at Flame Steakhouse with similar price point, the atmosphere and service at Flame were outstanding. Flame's steak came served on a sizzling platter with awesome sauces described in mouthwatering detail by our server. Just don't get the Elways hype"

  • "Pretty much what you expect in a prime steakhouse. The steaks were great, cooked perfectly with a nice char on the outside and the sides were fairly unique and tasty. The service was great and would recommend this place to people who love prime steakhouses."

Upon checking with the bank I was informed the restaurant had reversed charges. The embarrassment ruined the evening and really the trip. Avoid this place at all costs"

  • "I took my friend out to thank her for letting me stay with her in Vail. We may have found a new place to make an annual event. I had heard of Elway's and always wanted to try it (especially since I was such a big fan of his while he was playing for the Bronco's!). Everything we had was absolutely delicious and we had a wonderful waiter who was very personable and very attentive! He really added to the enjoyment of our meal. The flavor of the rib-eye steak was superb and it was so tender. We had the Brussels Sprout Hash side dish which I probably never would have ordered without my friend suggesting it and I loved it! This is an expensive restaurant, but in this case I felt that the meal, and overall experience, was well worth it!"

  • "Hard to find, tucked away in a lodge, but well worth the effort. We went for an early dinner and were not disappointed with the food and service. Staff were very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu item preparations. A good selection of wines and beers, and pretty awesome steaks. Mine had a little too much surface salt added during the flash cooking, but the New York cut was very tasty, tender, and cooked to order. Salads and the one side (asparagus) we had were generous and tasty. Toward the end of the meal the restaurant filled, and the noise level started to get uncomfortable in the main room where we were seated. On our way out, we learned of a separate quiet room near the fireplace that can be requested."

  • "Great service but disappointed in the New York Strips. ORDER the fillet instead. 1 of us had the fillet and it was outstanding. The other had a strip that was suppose to be medium-rare but came almost medium well. They offered to redo but that's always awkward. Liked the atmosphere but wouldn't hurry back since there are so many great restaurants in Vail."

  • "My friend chose this place and I'm glad he did. The service was the best part. Our server was knowledgeable on the menu and wine list, could answer adequately the questions I had without consulting someone else, and was generous with his recommendations. The food was tasty with good sized portions. Some of the seasonings were a bit off (the mashies were too salty, the lobster tail was overloaded with black pepper) and overall not as amazing as one would hope given the prices. The area we sat was a bit loud for a romantic dinner and I felt like I had to speak louder to my dining partner than I would like but the energy throughout the restaurant was fun. We had a wonderful time."

  • "I ordered a filet and wanted it cooked medium. The inside was cook perfect but the char on the outside made the steak taste burnt. I overheard other people having the same issue and i guess that is just the way they cook the meat. Not my style and was not impressed. The side dishes were great and the service was good but not sure i would go back for a $50 8oz filet."

  • "Definite recommend making reservations as we did in advance and had a great table especially if you have a group of 3 or more this would be your best nite out to eat one nite at least for your stay, as it is a little more than the normal price you would want to spend for a nite out to dine on a casual basis, this would be for an extravagant nite out dinner and for a special occassion. We enjoyed our food and quality was outstanding and preparation and presentation great, HAIL TO THE CHEFS.!"

  • "This was our second visit, the first time having been nearly two years ago, shortly after the opening of this location. At that time, we were with a very large group, and everything that could have gone wrong with our order did. There wadn't a single complimentary thing Ivcould have said. After a self-imposed hiatus, we returned this week to find a much more finely-tuned operation, with truly superb food and charming, attentive service. Keep your group to an intimate size, don't be embarrassed to go early, and I guarantee that you will be counting the days until you can return. Nota Bene: very expensive, but as my late mother-in-law used to say, "Every mouthful a pleasure!""

The special spices are just an overload of salt not just on the steaks but all of the sides as well. We will never go back."

  • "Sure, Vail is already expensive enough as is, so why add a huge steak dinner to the tab? Well, because Elway's is just that good. Just got back from a 4 day weekend with 6 mid-30s friends, and we all agreed that dinner at Elway's was well worth the expense. Brussel sprout hash and the filets were crowd favorites. Wine list is solid, mixed drinks were appropriately stiff, and service was spectacular. 2nd time for me in 2 trips, and I'll be back next time, too."

  • "My husband and I go to Vail every year, but this is the first time we have gone to Elway's for dinner. We have been to the Elway's in Denver a couple of times, so my expectations were high. Our service was great, our server was friendly enough to chat with us in between table runs, and the manager checked in with us. We started with the artichoke appetizer, which my husband scarfed down immediately. We opted for steaks, asparagus, and the macaroni and cheese. Our steaks were the perfect temperature and were delicious, but honestly, the macaroni and cheese stole the show. Even if you're watching what you're eating, it's worth falling off the wagon for. The wine list is also impressive, which helped seal the deal on the five star rating."

  • "Waitress was great. Very nice. Not extremely knowledgable about the menu. Bone in filet came out cooked perfectly but a bit too salty. New England clam chowder was served nice & hot. Delicious. Johns salad was good but unfortunately came out with entrees. Crusted Ahi is a nice portion size, tasty but also salty. Sea bass was good. We all drank so much water when we got back to our hotel. Wine list is great! There are many other great restaurants in Vail. I would t choose to come back here."

However the staff did everything they could to accomodate us. The cuts are very good as well as the special seasoning. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening."
