Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great! One of, if not, the best steak I've ever had. Initial service was great, after we ordered dinner a big group cAme in and we were forgot about. Took twenty min to get check"

  • "This was a special occasion dinner for a 48th birthday celebration. The service was top notch and food was very good. We ordered ahi tuna prepared as we requested and diver scallops. Elways delivers great service, lovely atmosphere and fantastic food."

  • "My husband and I attended an 11:30 lunch to celebrate my birthday. The food was cooked perfectly--salmon was very juicy and tender and the steak was also very tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes and creamed corn were superior to anything we have had before. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly. We look forward to returning in the near future!"

  • "Initially upon arrival, the service was very good,, very attentive. The food , both appetizers and entrée, were also very good. However, once the entrée plates were cleared, it was if they forgot we were there. Unable to get any servers attention, we sat for almost a half an hour until they stopped by to say they would bring the dessert offering. Needless to say, I just requested the check."

  • "First the good. Excellent all around food. The artichoke was outstanding. So were the salads, and of course the steaks. I think it's the most delightful steak I've had in Denver. I wish there could be different sections. Our seating this time was a bit better noise-wise than last time, but it was still hard to have a conversation without shouting. We had a party of four this time and the booths are really hard for people at opposite ends to hear each other. If you're at a table rather than a booth then you don't have the barriers that help reduce noise. So while you're closer, the volume is louder."

  • "Food was very good, service was great - but it was full of families with little kids. Not a big deal, but when you are spending hundreds on a special evening it is odd to see families with little ones etc all over. Could be because it is part of the hotel, the other locations might not be this way. The romantic vibe isn't there - the family vibe is."

  • "Big difference between Cherry Creek and DowntownElways The prices of the wine by the glass were ridiculous. I need to check to see if Cherry Creek is the same, but I don't remember 17$ being about the lowest price for a nice glass of cab. The restaurant felt" sleepy "whereas CC is always "alive". There is a reason why our reservation was so easy to get when CC was full!"

  • "Michael and Amber are some of the BEST bartenders! Fantastic service from everyone. Elway's was an excellent choice to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday!"

  • "As expected, Ritz places great emphasis on a wonderful and relaxing experience at Elways. Food is fantastic, atmosphere is very relaxing, staff are very friendly....never a moment where you can't make eye contact if needed. Pricing is on the higher end, but well worth the value. For special occasions....you have a sure bet everyone in your party will truly enjoy!!!"

  • "Among the best steaks I've ever had (bone-in filet), and tuna tartar wonderful. Tag team servers, especially Phil the wine guy, were awesome. Decorating a bit odd, the disco lights in the ceiling. I liked that the two-tops are separate tables, not the side by side format many restaurants use. Only gripe is the wine/alcohol prices. They gouge like no other place I've been to. Wines priced 3-4x retail!"

  • "I was not sure what to expect out of another steak place, but this restaurant was excellent. Our waiter made the night with his thoughtful and helpful suggestions because all the food is of huge proportions. We were from out of town and therefore there was no bringing anything home for the next day. The tuna tartar was fabulous, they were kind enough to let us split the lamb and cook it to out different desires, the sides were great-fried rice with duck and a brussel sprout hash. The waiter actually found a small yummy dessert not on the menu that I could see-just to finish off the meal. He also picked a reasonable red wine for us that was perfect. We ran into friends and had just the kind of night that can't be beat. Thanks!"

  • "The grouper special was fabulous. It came with a risotto bake and asparagus. Very good. I wish I had the recipe for the risotto bake."

  • "we eat here quite frequently. this time the food was just ok. i didn't get my usual and i regretted it afterwards. the bone in filet would be my recommendation to eat here. this time i had the ny strip and was thoroughly unimpressed."

  • "Calamari was a real miss - lots of extra breading, small pieces and lacking flavor. Bone in filet and chicken were amazing as usual."

  • "We were staying at the Ritz Carlton and thought we would try Elways Downtown. Steaks were prepared perfectly. The twice baked potatoe and the roasted cauliflower were excellent. We will be back."

  • "Our dinner at Elway's was incredible. This was our first time, but we will return, as it has replaced other area prime steakhouses as our new favorite! We arrived early and had a drink at the bar, the bartender was very friendly and made great dinner and appetizer recommendations. We were seated at the time of our reservation, and although were by the kitchen, the noice was adequately contained. The bartender kindly sent us an appetizer, the lamb with green chile cheese fondue, which was quite possibly the best appetizer we've ever had. Entrees were very, very good. We ordered crab legs and the bone in filet. The wine list was very nice, and dessert (key lime pie) finished the meal perfectly. Highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "a little disappointing, service was slow and meals were over cooked. second time diners, first visit was outstanding, second visit not so much. do not know if there will be a third time at these prices"

  • "Elways' served one of the finest servings of beef I have ever had. The two of us ordered the Porterhouse steak for two, rare/medium rare. It arrived in serving pieces on two plates. The outside had a beautiful seared crust and the interior was pink and a warm. The flavor and texture were outstanding. However, it was the exterior searing that made this steak a standout. It is something few restaurants have the equipment or technique to deliver."

  • "Great service and food in a very open and loud environment. Great wine list and mixed drinks are very professional made"

  • "I took my husband to Elway's for a birthday lunch. We have been to Elway's Cherry Creek numerous times, however, this was our first time at Elway's Downtown. We had the bone-in rib eye off the dinner menu and the salmon from the lunch menu - both were superb. The service was top notch. The restaurant is located in the Ritz Carlton and the servers were definitely providing "Ritz" level of service. They went above and beyond. Between the food and the service it was a very memorable dining experience."

  • "The food is expensive you would think that the service would be impeccable, but it left a lot to be desired. The ambiance was loud and difficult to have a conversation."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "After being sat, we were approached by one waiter who said another waiter would be piggybacking the table so we would get great service from both. Everything was find until our food arrived. We never saw either waiter. We asked another worker, perhaps the hostess, if we could get water, which she gladly brought to us. As she passed by again, we asked for some steak sauce and more water, which she brought. Finally, when finished, never seeing our waiters, we again saw this wonderful lady and asked her for more water and a doggy box. We asked her if we could just tip her, and she was shy and very kind. We have been to the Cherry Creek Elways and had incredible service, so this was a little disspointing, however, the food was wonderful."

  • "Food was average...service average....restaurant was too bright and very noisy. If you are going to go to Elway's do yourself a favor and go to the Cherry Creek location"

  • "We had a wonderful lunch at Elways. I had the lobster sandwich with big chunks of seafood. The other guests had a hamburger, grilled artichoke, salad and we had 2 orders of French fries. The chef gave us 3 artichoke halves since we had 3 in our party instead of the normal 2 halves which was nice. Lovely lunch!"

  • "A good spot to take a special person for the biggest day of the year. We weren't that hungry, so we appreciated how they let us split the pre-fix menu."

  • "I find this location of Elway's best for business lunches. It is condusive to conversation and never overly crowded. With large groups I make reservations, but for 2 - 3 I have always been able to walk-in without reservations and without waiting. I have only been for dinner once or twice and it is considerably more quite and low-key than their Cherry Creek location. The food is always great! I usually do the tenderloin and salad option. The steak is always perfect!"

  • "The restaurant was very noising and the service was not as crisp as it has been in the past. Also the crab fried rice it was very dry and I had to send my filet back ordered it medium came to table medium rare."

  • "I have had way better service at other steakhouses in the area. You expect wonderful service for the money you pay for your meal but we had two waiters and they were not very attentive for valentines day"

  • "Best steak I have had in years! A little louder than expected ( 1st time there) but it was fun laughing loud so it just made you smile."

  • "This is our second time dining at the Downtown Elway's another incredible meal and fantastic experience. We were running late in traffic on Valentine's Day and they were so kind and accommodating, didn't rush us through our meal, took pictures of us that turned out great. This is a lovely dining experience and they make you feel special from beginning to end. :-) NOTHING like Del Frisco's or Morton's they have it hands down on food and service."

  • "It was just amazing, everything about it from the service to the food to dessert. Will definitely be back"

  • "We had our Valentine dinner at Elway's. The service was great and we were seated on time per our reservation. The food was outstanding. I had the steak and my wife had the mahi mahi. The steak was prepared perfectly and was delicious! My wife asked to have the mahi mahi parmesan crusted and they were able to accomodate the request. She thought the mahi mahi was perfect as well. We will definitely dine here again! Eating next to Todd Helton was an added surprise as well!"

  • "My wife and I visited the restaurant on a Thursday night. She had been craving steak for a bit and I thought this might be a good valentines day date. Let me start by saying the service is awesome. We gave more than our usual 20% tip. The food is average. In my opinion why charge so much? Anyway. the food is average not worth the price. the service is exceptional. I would recommend if you have a couple hundred to blow and you are craving fanciness."
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "Food and service was great. But we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated for an 8pm comfirmed reservation on a Wednesday night. The restaurant did comp the appetizers."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "They food at Elways was fantastic from the appetizers to the entree. The place is pricey, but given the name on the restaurant and the location in the ritz carlton, the prices were as expected. You get great food in a good atmosphere. Would recommend for a fancy night out or special occasion."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary at Elway's. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had! We were greeted with a rose and every staff member we met said congratulations. The food was delicious - the steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered. What a great experience. We will definitely be back! Thanks!"
