Diner Reviews
  • "Very good food and very good service. Portions were large and perfectly suited for sharing. A bit pricy for our ordinary dining out. We were very fortunate to have had a gift card. Very glad we were fortunate to get to go there as we wanted to for a long time."

  • "Birthday dinner for my bride of 35 years - awesome!!! The "short rib off the bone" was truly amazing and fork tender!"

  • "When friends are visiting from out of town, Elway's is my go-to restaurant for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Over the 4th weekend, I took two friends to dinner. The service was outstanding...no hovering, but there when needed. We all had filets that were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Brussels sprouts hash is a must! My friends loved the small dessert options, and we all enjoyed the brulee spoons. Can't say enough positive things about Elway's!"

  • "We eat here frequently and the food is always fresh and delicious. The service is great with attentive wait staff. You can always count on Elways. The shrimp cocktail is wonderful and besides the steaks, our favorites are the sea bass and fried rice."

  • "From the beer before to the dessert after, lunch was perfect! Oh, and the in between was perfect too."

  • "I love Elways! But we had Kevin and he was bad. We waited almost 20 min for a burger and soup. I ordered it plain with everything on the side and triple well done. It arrives pink and with cheese. Then it takes another 10 min, Kevin never comes over to check. So the bacon is now cold, and my sister is done with her soup. Kevin hung out in the bar and could have cared less about his tables. We love going to Elways, but this experience makes us think twice Don't get Kevin."

  • "I used to boast about that amazing shrimp cocktail as among the best I had ever had. On my last visit...not impressed. Not sure why that has changed (or merely one bad night among all the great ones)...very disappointed. It was nearly tasteless and somewhat 'rubbery', missing that 'crisp' and chill... thank goodness for the excellent cocktail sauce to give those sad shrimp some "oomph". I know...not the best review based on one item, but I can't remember my meal as a stand-out, either. :("

  • "We don't like table ? 14. Too crazy with people running into you and leaning on chairs/table. Lindsay made the experience wonderful."

  • "With celiac disease dining out is a trial. A European vacation recently was a revelation that restaurants could indeed care and make sure food was safe AND delicious for the celiac. I expected the same from Elways as I have dined here for years and have known the food to be excellent. They have a separate gluten free menu which was helpful, but unfortunately limited. As I always enjoyed and indeed craved their steaks, I ordered the ribeye. Sadly, the steaks I make at home are tenderer and more flavorful. I was informed that a bit of salt and pepper were all my steak was seasoned with. I think it wasn't enough. And the quality was inferior to what I've had before. So, I guess this restaurant is going to be off my list now."

  • "My mom and dad have just moved to Denver from Honolulu. I've told them about Elway's and how yummy the food is. We celebrated their arrival with dinner. Of course we had to begin with the lamb chop fondue. Is it wrong of me to feel passionately about simple frenched lamb chops and a Queso dip? I had the N.Y. strip, dad had the sirloin, hubby had the N.Y. also. The brussel sprout hash had my dad speechless. Never in this lifetime did he imagine he'd like brussel sprouts. The mashies were smooth and elegant. I'm still stunned that any of us had room for dessert, but in fairness--we split: Key Lime pie and super chocolately cake. My parents raved about how it was the perfect introduction to their new city."

  • "I had the rice/duck confit and pork chops and they were both delicious. Dining experience was great but we had to wait a bit to get served at the bar- when there weren't a lot of people."

  • "The service was unbelievably quick - great for people with time constraints. The salads were huge!!"

  • "Compared to other steak houses in the Denver area, this also stands out for being more reasonable in price."

  • "My Mother, a resident of Denver, recommended this restaurant to my wife and me, as we were visiting from Houston. So the three of us ate lunch there last week. I ordered the smash burger and it was fantastic! The meat to bread ratio is what made it (huge, thick patty and small bun). The homemade potato chips were excellent."

  • "Very nice for a steak house. Fabulous pork chops and desserts. Like more pizazz in my Caesar salad. Perfectly prepared steaks."

  • "My Parents went to celebrate their anniversary. The restaurant refused to help grant simple requests to help make this a special dinner and did not even Do anything special for the couple at dessert even when requested. I was very surprised that the management was so rude. Usually in high end restaurants the customer service team tries to go above and beyond for the customers. Elways use to be that way. Not anymore. Very Disappointing"

  • "Other than being seated next to a noisy bar - even when plenty of tables were available, the food made up for it. My 11 yoa granddaughter ordered the 8 oz filet (which was the smallest and least pricey at $37) and she devoured it! My husband enjoyed the buffalo rib eye and I had the veal. This was our third time visiting this location and the food is always top notch. It also has the "homey" touch with the smores dessert option. I had the creme brulee spoons which consist of "just enough" dessert. We will definitely return but not on an outdoor concert night."

  • "We had a wonderful lunch. We were seated in the bar area which was a bit noisy. Our server was efficient without being intrusive."

  • "This was my 1st time dining at Elway's and the food ranked with the finest prime steak houses where I have dined. My daughter and I shared a 28 oz Porterhouse and a Maine lobster tail. The steak was charred on the outside and medium rare inside. Very tender with a deep beef flavor. The lobster was firm and sweet. My only complaint was the service didn't rank with the best restaurants where I've eaten and the butter for the lobster was not heated. Looking for a great steak in Denver, this is the place!"

  • "The food want as good as I remembered. Just the fine touches you would expect at the price point. Food sort of slopped on plate (my halibut) au gratin potatoes looked pretty bad. The calamari was just a fried pile of stuff, not the same Rhode island style I remember. Service was good! The weird thing was having the entire service staff on the floor standing around and watching tables. Not sure they were training or not, just seemed strange. All in all not the best birthday meal for my friend."

  • "It is a beautiful restaurant and obviously very popular with tourists and locals alike. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. It's a little expensive but perfect for a special occasion. I have no negatives to report!"

  • "This was a birthday dinner for my husband. We had been to Elways before and had a great time. They are still going strong and we had another good meal there. Service is attentive and personal."

  • " For my lady's birthday we wanted a special place to go and she wanted a Porter House T-Bone Steak. Elway's delivered on both counts. We found the service excellent and the food even better. I had two drinks from the bar that were mixed perfectly. The waitstaff even made an attempt to get us enough bones for our dogs so we could avoid arguments when we arrived home."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Way overpriced for the food served. I ordered a $31 filet mignon and, although it was cooked well, it was fatty and gristly; had parts that were uncuttable and unchewable. My wife's veal schnitzel was just OK - rather tasteless. We won't be returning."

  • "Where else do you get a nice well protected patio w lobster cocktail, great entre options, great wine choices, every day valet, and super service? Oh, and great music on Sat nights"

  • "This was my husband and i first time at elways. It was our one year anniversary and the service was out of this world! The food was absolutely delicious. It was romantic and they gave us the most delicious desert for our special occasion. We decided every year we want to go to elways for our anniversary"

  • "When I arrived at Elway's, I was giving my reservation information to the two women at the hostess desk. Another diner walked up to the desk and began speaking to the young woman who was going to seat me. Instead of telling her that she would help her momentarily, she turned to her and carried on a conversation for several minutes. The second (older) hostess quickly began chatting with me so that I wasn't completely ignored. I think the younger woman simply didn't know how to handle the situation and probably didn't realize how she made me feel. Other than that, the food was excellent as was the service. The pork green chile is outstanding...I ordered a side of it to put on my veggie omelet."
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "Everything at Elway's was great, but the mac and cheese needs an update. As a vegetarian it used to be a great option, but it has become dry and boring, with very small-sized pasta. Please make it creamy and yummy again, or offer a true vegetarian entree."

  • "We've been to Elways for quite a few years. I can say that even though there have been many changes in staff and some on the menu, the food, service and atmosphere have always been great. I'm glad I can depend on having a wonderful dining experience here from the time we enter the door to the dessert."

  • "Invited two colleagues for a business lunch, and we were all pleased with the food and the service. Noise level was challenging at times, but manageable. Service was attentive, but not overbearing."

  • "The only real disappointments were the "Elway Salad" (plain) and the mac n cheese (no flavor)."
