I unfortunately had a few friends who did not enjoy their experience there but I experienced the complete opposite. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was fresh and prepared with great care - the stuffed trout is outstanding. Definitely a fan of anywhere that changes their menu with the season to cater to the local produce. I was surprised with how light and content I felt after our meal over the usual full and ready to burst at the seams, it is a nice change from the heavy steakhouses. Our favorite long term waiter has moved on to another restaurant but our new waiter was very good. I had originally made the reservation to take an out of town guest there for dinner but when she had to cancel, we kept the reservation and had a great dinner as usual. Starting with the soup and the tomato salad (home gown tomatoes picked ripe taste and smell so good!) and then through the main course (I had rabbit and my wife had the stuffed trout) and finishing with home made ice-cream and bread pudding.

Flawless and unbelievably delicious are the two compliments that come to mind. Ashley was our excellent server who knew the provenance of every morsel and suggested the best red wine I have ever had (and I have had a LOT of red wine as I am old). This is going to be the place we go when we crave perfection.

The old gas station has been transitioned into an exceptional restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was simply amazing, and I know that word gets over used but it's appropriate in this case.
For starters my wife ordered the Scott Farms Heirloom Tomato Salad, I had the Louisiana Crawfish Pistolette - a small roll bathed in absolutely delicious crawfish etouffee. For our main course my wife had the most succulent seared bay boat scallops that I've ever tasted while I had the cornmeal red fish. Desert was their bread pudding which was as good as everything else they served.

We'd heard that Ellerbe's was noisy, so we purposefully made early reservations (at 6) and went when we could sit outside.The food was fantastic. The tomato salad with with lemony crispy garbanzo beans was delicious. as was my friend's white bean soup. Our partners ate carpaccio and both agreed that it was the best they'd ever had. All the entrees we had were good: rare tuna with beans, lamb, and veal shank; but the star was definitely the lamb with a slight curry rub and a perfect smokey,lightly flavored sear, juicy and tender. The desserts were also excellent, with my number one choice being the Mam maw bread pudding. We went for lunch and had the steak salad, PLT, Maw Maw's bread pudding, the sampler dessert plate w/biscotti, cookies, etc and french press. The service was impeccable - the servers are actually excited about the product they are selling and you definitely get a sense of pride for what they are putting on the table.
