Diner Reviews
  • "Ellendale's is a great restaurant. It has live music, ambiance, and a very local flavored menu. I will return as it was a great experience. We had a going away dinner for a co-worker."

  • "Went for the first time for a business lunch and it was actually perfect. Quiet, nice setting, and great service. The buffet was much better than I had anticipated and literally has something for everyone. The curry chicken and BBQ pork tenderloin were great. The veggies were also really good. There were several options for salads and the soup was great. "

  • "We had a bridesmaid brunch here and it was great. The selection is huge with both breakfast and lunch items, salad & desserts. Great drink list, too!"

  • "Ellendales is a great place for Sunday brunch. Buffet-style food options were plentiful and although they were busy the service was outstanding. The bottomless mimosas were a highlight . Several different flavor combinations tochoose from keep things fun. Ask for an outside table and enjoy your Mimosa on the porch."

  • "My husband and I came here a few years ago and the food was excellent and the atmosphere very nice but it was not good at all this time with my daughter. The chicken was over cooked and had no taste, the ravioli appetizer was not cooked thoroughly, and the lasagna had very little pasta. It was all sauce and cheese. I was very disappointed and will not come back."

  • "It has a cool vibe. I love that it is a local on-of-a-kind place, and not a chain. Being in an old house, the seating is in several separate rooms, which makes your dining experience more intimate. It enables larger groups to have their own separate room, which keeps their noise out of my dinner. I love that there is live mellow music (usually a singer/musician), and I try to sit in the room with the music. I have written another review of this place before. I was asked to rate it again, and I unfortunately had poor service at my recent visit. This is rare for this place. I think my server was working a large party in another room, so it was hard to track him down. I'll still be back!"

  • "We had gotten this recommendation from Tammy at the Hyatt Place Opryland and we weren't disappointed. The dinner was absolutely delicious and the restaurant was beautiful. There were six of us and we all agreed that we would definitely go back. We wanted to go back on this visit, but there just wasn't enough time. Also, Julie couldn't have been nicer and we definitely experienced good ole Southern Hospitality."

  • "Hotel had recommended. Since it was close by, we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was great, liked that it was pretty casual and seating was good for a larger group. Enjoyed the gal playing the piano and singing - nice voice and assortment of songs. Food was not what we expected. A couple people in the group didn't care for their food at all. A couple others thought it was just okay. In all fairness, I think a couple others in the group were satisfied with their food, but they didn't say specifically."

  • "We were traveling through and found the restaurant on Tripadvisor as it was near our hotel. Food was fabulous... From the pork chops my husband ordered to the ahi tuna I ordered. Very nice beer and wine choices... We would definitely return if in the area. We dined early so missed the entertainment. The old house is really quite beautiful..."

  • "We go to Nashville every 3 years or so and we always eat at Ellendale's. We enjoy the atmosphere and the live music. The food was great. It is also nice to be able to make a reservation using Open Table."

  • "The brunch was excellent and the variety was great for all customers. The customer service was very good and you received a smile from all who worked there."

  • "I had the Rib Eye Steak, my friend a NY Strip, they were both perfectly cooked, impeccably seasoned. The appetizers (BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp, homemade saltines with feta were fantastic. Service was attentive and polite. One of our favorite places"

  • "We picked Ellendale's because we were able to make a reservation for our large group of 11. First time visiting Ellendale's and it was wonderful! We were seated in the bar/lounge area, where they had a great pianist. The atmosphere was fun and laid back which was perfect for our large group. About half of our group got some form of steak and all were cooked and seasoned to perfection. They really enjoyed the steak sauce which is house made! I personally had the Starburst Salmon and it was delicious! It had a kiwi salsa on it and it was a perfect match to the salmon."

  • "We have lived in Nashville for many years, but have never tried Ellendale's. We had heard many good things about the restaurant, so when we had company from out of town, we wanted to take them someplace special. Pulling into the driveway, we were all pleasantly surprised. The building is beautiful. Inside was just as lovely. Our server could not have been more personable or attentive. However, the food was disappointing. Of the four meals ordered, only one was outstanding even though it was not hot enough. Chicken and waffles just okay. Romeo and Juliet surprisingly small portion of meat. The Chicken Amaretto was extremely dry and tough. We drove a long way for disappointing food, but great service!"

  • "Buffet only for lunch. Food was good, but the offering was modest. Salad options were equally modest, though the soup was quite good. Desert was not included, and the sampler was very good. Great range and wonderful flavor."

  • "My husband and friend enjoyed the Cajun pasta. I thought I was ordering eggplant parmesan, but it was actually eggplant parmesan over pasta. I did not enjoy it partly due to the crispy parts of the pasta. I was offered another meal, but did not have time. I have had great food the other 6 or so times I have dined so I will not let this experience keep me away."

  • "I have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. They used to have excellent quality food and service. I was very disappointed this time to the point I will probably not return or recommend it to others. I had salmon and it was overcooked. The sides were not a hot as they should have been. One other person in our party of 4 had a filet ordered medium well and it was cooked well done. The asparagus side dish were very tough. The appetizers were excellent. The service wasn't bad but wasn't what it used to be and maybe that was because it was St. Patrick's Day and the restaurant was full. We just felt rushed to order at times. Too bad because I used to look forward to dining at this restaurant."

  • "Have been here many times for brunch but they were off this past Sunday. Went later than usual and food was not ready in the buffet. Had to wait. Not a normal experience."

  • "This is the best spot for brunch, hands down! The selection of food, omelette bar and bottomless mimosa leave nothing to be desired!"

  • "We had an excellent meal and loved the background music. The food and ambiance truly were fantastic. We were however disappointed to see a $2 pour charge on drinks that already cost $10. That ended up being $12 per drink, without us being aware of it. Perhaps it is in small print on the menu, but we would have been much more satisfied and willing to return/recommend this restaurant had the cost been included in the drink itself, had the waitress informed us of this, or had this been more obvious in reading the drink menu. It felt like a sneaky maneuver to add $2 per drink to the tab. We would have still ordered the drinks, but not felt mislead in the end."

  • "Love their brunch selection for the most part. The past time we went they didn't quite have as many breakfast options as in the past. The fruit section was defiantly missed. All they had was bananas."

  • "After a wonderful lunch there probably a year ago, we invited out of town guests to meet us there for lunch. After being seated and ordering drinks, we found there was no menu, only a buffet. (I had contemplated ordering what I had eaten there previously because it really was delicious as was everything our whole group had ordered that day.) The buffet was disappointing in selection and even more disappointing in taste. They didn't even offer dessert. We were embarrassed for our choice of places to dine and apologized profusely to our friends for our choice for lunch that day. Never will go back."

  • "The menu looked great online so we decided to give it a try. All 4 of us thought the food was awful. If the average meal price was say $10 then I would say we got what we paid for. However the pricing structure is in line with other restaurants that would be considered "fine dining". Whereas the food quality is that of a small time "country cooking" kind of place. The salmon entree was so hard, it could barely be cut with a knife. The eggplant was also very tough and hard to cut. Ravioli had no flavor. The decor and ambiance is tired looking and outdated. Service was poor. Our waiter disappeared for long stretches and also goofed up our orders. We ended up having to flag down another waiter so we could pay and leave."

  • "This past Sunday was our second visit to Ellendale's for brunch. We had a reservation for 4, and were seated immediately. While the restaurant was really busy when we got there (prime brunch time--11:30 am), our server was always around for questions, refilling coffee, water and mimosas, and did a fantastic job of clearing our plates away moments after we were finished. We love the variety of food that is offered for brunch, and the variety of mimosas that you can order. Mix-and-match bottomless mimosas is so fun, because there are so many different ones to try! Ellendale's is big, but still very cozy. Also, the piano player in the main dining room is such a nice touch. We plan on continuing to have brunch at Ellendale's."

  • "Having dined at Ellendale's many times I was disappointed on Saturday. We were told buffet only, but a neighboring table ordered sandwiches. The buffet food was down to the "dreges" as one of my guest commented and it wasn't even noon yet. The food was good but not really what we expected for lunch - too heavy. It was a special occassion and I found myself repeatedly apologizing to my guests. Not good!"

  • "Food was OK, a bit over priced. The waiter brought my salad, then reached and moved the bread on it, with his hand about a quarter of an inch and said, "now that is where it is suppose to be" You don't touch peoples food! Took forever for him to bring our check or to see how we were fairing. Food was ok, the lady singer was ok at best, must be a family memeber.. Over all, doubt I'll go back."

  • "I always have pleasant experiences at Ellendale's Restaurant!! The food is always super delicious and elegantly presented and the portions are perfect (not too much and not too little). We had the dessert sampler (which I HIGHLY recommend), and it was more than enough for 4 people to share. It was a bit noisy because we were placed beside another room of very loud women. The barrier between the rooms was not adequate for noise reduction. (That's the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.) I highly recommend Ellendale's Restaurant!! You won't be disappointed."

  • "We arrived early, they were seating people with no reservations and people with later times ahead of us. The food took an 1 1/2 hours to get it to us, and was not cooked to our order."

  • "We generally like to sit so we can see and hear the musicians. However, the patrons were quite noisy talking and the musicians were appropriately low volume for a restaurant. We were not impressed with the quality of the music, at times it sounded like they were just making up stuff to fill the time. We enjoyed our Tapas, meal and dessert."

  • "The food was alright. There were plenty of options. I only liked about three things that they offered. The gravy didn't have flavor and the biscuits weren't very good either. The saving grace for our brunch was the $10 bottomless mimosas and our very friendly server Alex. I probably wouldn't return."

  • "Easy reservation. Very attentive service. Varied menu. All delicious. Bar drinks and wine reasonably priced and good quality. Easy to have a good dinner and and drinks for $30 .Requested table for 10 away from music room so could talk and laugh . No problem. Stayed more than 3 hours and never was rushed or encouraged to leave. Adequate parking. Fun and upscale relaxed ambience. They''re not trying to be unique and special. Ellendale's just does it. Only suggestion is to serve a stronger cup of good quality coffee."

  • "Overall, I believe the restaurant does not handle holidays well. For it being the busiest night of the year to date (Valentine's), service was terrible. We saw our waiter three times over the course of our 1.5 hr experience (Once to take our drink order, once to take our food order, and once to bring our food). We had to ask the hostess for our check because the waiter was somewhere else. Presentation of the food was good, but the food tasted like the grease had not been changed in serveral days. I was dissappointed in the overall experience at the restaurant. I will likely not be back."

  • "We went for a Sunday brunch during Valetine's, so we were prepared for a wait. We were seated in a room w/ 3 other tables (2 that were occupied). The hostess got our waters & we went to make our plates. The food was tasty & in spite of it being crowded they did a decent job of restocking the buffets. The other tables close to us had waiters, but noone checked on us the entire time we were there. My boyfriend went to get the pitcher to refill our water, but the hostess saw him & poured it for us. When we finished we had to ask the hostess for our check & told her we never had a waiter. She was very apologetic, comped our meals & gave us a coupon for 2 free future brunches. They made up for it & we'll be back even after the free meals."

  • "The food at Ellendale's was fair but I will say that is was late when we ate on Valentines day night. Cool old house had a nice feel to it and the bar had live music which was nice."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Ellendale's was clearly not prepared for Valentine's Day. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive. When it did, it was not right. My boyfriend ordered a steak medium-well, it arrived medium-rare. He couldn't eat it. My meal was supposed to come with grilled shrimp - the shrimp were missing. I let the server know, and told him it was okay, I just didn't want to be charged for it. He returned with a plate of four tiny shrimp - that I swear were microwaved! They were awful. We did not send anything back for fear it would take another hour to get our food again. The tables around us sent food back and one couple walked out because they waited so long for their food. Clearly, the kitchen was having issues."

  • "We had reservations for 12:15 Sunday...the crowds were enormous...they were running behind in time. We were seated about 20 minutes after our reservation time. They ran out of plates...more wait. There was only one chef cooking omelets...the line was long there...more wait. He ran out of many foods and no one brought him more. We finally gave up. The noise level was unbearable...a lounge singer (piano/vocalist) was singing over the top of all the noise of the patrons...couldn't hear any conversation at my table. We won't go back there ever again on a Sunday!"
