  • "The brunch they offer is very good, featuring things such as salad bar, omelet bar, and even waffles ( my favorite!) Delicious mimosas and you can get 3 for $10. Our server Allen was so great! Great place overall."

  • "Overall great Sunday Brunch with nice selection. Omelets were great but biscuits were less than desirable and they do not offer any jelly or jams :("

  • "A year ago (2013) we ate at Ellendale's in Nashville, TN and had an enjoyable dinner. So, we booked through Open Table a reservation for June 21, 2014. Well, when we checked into our motel, the manager mentioned he had had pretty unfavorable reviews from folks he had sent there for dinner. We immediately placed a call to Ellendale's to check on our reservation. After placing three calls to the number, we received no answer, just a recording. Our reservation was for 4:30 and we continued to call to try to talk with someone. No one ever answered. I would appreciate hearing from you if the restaurant has closed, and if so, why were we still able to place our reservation through Open Table? Thank you, Bob and Darleen Carter"

  • "A close family friend recommended we try Ellendale's on our next trip to Nashville. It was worth the visit, the food and service were outstanding. We will definitely visit again the next time"

  • " Your establishment was very classy and had great food. The family touch is appreciated from the past owner of a family business. We often come for very special occasions and always leave happy. Thank you!"

  • "The tables were rickety and slanted, carpet old and moist feeling, the food was dry and overcooked, and the desserts were awful. Why do that to food. The restaurant needs to hire a new chef, get a menu refresh, educate its staff on service rules, and refurbish the interior and decor. Telling everyone I know to stay away."

  • "Food was great and service right on! Steak let rise wraps were fantastic and the Sirloin was cooked perfectly. Would visit again when back in town."

  • "This restaurant is great for special occasions dinings. The staff was friendly and the owner was greeting and seating guests to their tables. Service was excellent. Even though their chef had an "off night" (cooking my medium-rare ribeye steak as well-done and burnt), the service and friendliness of the staff saved the evening from a disastrous experience. I will certainly come back and give this neighborhood gem another chance. By the way, you have to try this restaurant's homemade desserts. The homemade ice cream and varieties of cake were excellent. Thanks."

  • "Ellendale's is a great upscale neighborhood restaurant. Every time we've been there the food has been excellent, the ambience of dining in an old home is great or you can choose the main dining area with live music. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a dining spot on the east side of Nashville."

  • "I had a 7:15 reservation and arrived 5 minutes early. Waited at the hostess stand for 10 minutes and no hostess to seat me. In that 10 minute period, 2 servers acknowledged me, but I still could not get seated, so I left."

  • "I brought a group of eight clients here and we enjoyed the food and the music. The wait staff needed some polish, but you can tell they meant well."

  • "We have been going to Ellendale's for quite some time. We love to celebrate our anniversary there, and were surprised to be treated this year by our friends. Such a great meal, and a we even slow danced with live music...nice. Great staff and so relaxing. We will continue to visit as frequently as possible."

  • "Amazing Father's Day Brunch. Almost too much food. The atmosphere is nice and the server was attentive. We had reservations and were seated before our scheduled time. Will definitely go back."

  • "The expectations were very high for this place. We had a 4 PM reservation to ensure that we were between lunch and dinner rushes. We were, in fact, the only couple seated in the room. Still, the waitress was nowhere to be seen for much of the afternoon. The Romeo and Juliet (signature steak entree) was overcooked and tough. The meat had not been marinated or seasoned so it was bland. The amaretto chicken however was tender, juicy, and flavorful (I suggest trying this). The wilted greens presumably wilted from the excessive amount of jalapeno mixed in which made then too spicy to compliment anything on the plate. Summary: Food: fair, Service: Poor, Price: reasonable, ambiance: fair."

  • "First, I had to get our waiter back 3 times, just to have the minimum amount of dressing, to go on mine and my wife's salads. Both dressings were not good, and we couldn't finish them. (ranch and vinaigrette) Then came the entrée. I had a 6 oz. fillet, that had no flavor, what so ever. The miniature asparagus could not be cut with my steak knife. It had no flavor as well. This is the first meal that I can think of, that I could not finish. On top of that, I was charged full price, with no regard to my bad experience. The waiter did apologize, and told me that there was no chef, and the food had been prepared by "chef's in training". I will never be back."

  • "I was anticipating a good dining experience in a lovely setting but was very disappointed. My party had to wait for 5 minutes for someone to greet and seat us even though there were only a handful of diners there and the our server at the table, although very friendly, took longer to get to us. I could understand if it were busy but there is no excuse when the only service at Saturday lunch was a buffet. The 'Buffet only' was not made clear either when we were seated. The food was hot and fairly tasty but not worth putting up with slow service and a dingy interior to eat at Ellendales. The best part of the meal was the desserts. Will not be back "

  • "You won't find the same old thing at this buffet offering. Everything was delicious. Food groupings were at separate stations so I didn't find a lot of congestion (and my reservation was at noon). They grow many of their own produce, so you'll get very, very fresh vegetables. Everyone in my party was well pleased. "

  • "Excellent food. Excellent wine. Excellent service. Excellent entertainment (05/25/14). We had the Romeo & Juliet steak and the salmon (starburst?). The chocolate favor on the salmon was a nice surprise. "

  • "My husband and I truly enjoyed Ellendale's. There were plenty of options for him (carnivore) and for me (vegetarian). The ambience was excellent from the romantic lighting and each room differently decorated to the musical talent on a Friday evening. The prices were also very fair for the excellent food. We highly recommend, and we will definitely be back. "

  • "We had a great time. A special group of us chose Ellendale's Restaurant as the restaurant we would like to try, as only two of us had been there previously. The rest of our group were extremely happy with this choice. Everything was perfect. "

  • "...for the money. Breakfast choices were horrible. Biscuits so hard I couldn't even cut them...and I am no 200 pound weakling. No waffles...no omelet bar. Pretty sad overall for the price. Howevermm the waitress we had was awesome!"

  • "Our first brunch at Ellendales was on Mother's Day. Hard to judge due to masses of people being fed, but we would go back on a regular Sunday just to try the omelet station. 7 on scale of 10. We'd go back."

  • "We had a group of 8 for Mothers day brunch. The group aged from 18 months to 84. The food was good and the selection great. The cost was a bargain. My wife said she didn't have anything that wasn't good and I agree. "

  • "Not only did they seat us 45 mins later than our reservation time but the food was awful and most of the "hot" items were mildly warm at best. Not worth the 140 dollars for FOUR people. We would have been better off going to a Cheesecake Factory. We would have gotten more and better food at around the same cost. "

  • "My family and I had a reservation for Mother's Day brunch on Sunday, May 11. We were seated in the Piano Room after about 5 minutes, but it took 10 minutes to get water and instructions that we could visit the buffet. The food was presented well and looked delicious, it just wasn't hot or warm. Most of the items that I ate were luke warm at best, and I tried almost everything. I will be inclined to try the restaurant again, just not for a buffet meal. I was also unaware that the price for the buffet was different on Mother's Day than what the website listed. $108 for 3 people and our drinks were only $10. I was disappointed once I realized the cost, but will still go back on a non-special day to try the regular menu. "

  • "Ellendale's has been a family favorite for special occasions for years; however, this year we were very disappointed. I, personally, only ate from the salad bar and dessert bar. The salad bar was as excellent as always; however, the dessert bar was not nearly as good as in years past. There was nothing appealing on the hot bar. Our server never came to ask if we needed refills on our drinks. We had to flag him down or get them ourselves. There were eight of us in our party and all but one felt the meal was not worth the money. Our bill plus tip was over $300, which would have been worth it if the food and service had been what it has in years past. Sorry."

  • "Major dissapointment for what was supposed to be a specail day for my mom. The "Brunch" had no eggs. Not even when we asked our server. The menu also said waffles with all fixings which they also didn't serve. Very poor job for a brunch. The only thing that looked decent was the prime rib. After taking a cpl bites of grissell they informed us it was sirloin. You can't serve sirloin like prime rib. Huge dissapointment and someone that has been going to Ellendales for years and years will never step foot in the door ever again. Horrible and felt terrible I drug my mother here and set unrealistic expectations. Bummer"

  • "We chose Ellensales because we had seen the good reviews. After going I now believe the owners rated it- it did not uphold to anything higher then 1 star. Upon entering the restaurant it was dark and musty, like the carpet hadn't been changed in 20 years, and that the cleanliness was not a priority. The ambiance was electic and off, not warm and inviting. The food was terrible, dry chicken, hard as rock pittas, and the fried items were chewy tasteless and rubbery. The best thing I can say is that the live pianist woman sang beautifully and we really enjoyed her. "

  • "The filet was very nice but the salad, vegetables, and dessert were slightly disappointing. The server seemed to be new to her position and did only what was absolutely needed. I would go back for the steak, but this visit didn't seem to represent my previous experiences at Ellendale's."

  • "Came here for a Sunday brunch with the family. They opened late, and a couple of the food stations were not ready. Some of the food was really inedible - the catfish was so full of grease that I had to spit it out. Really, really awful. I was able to salvage the meal with an omelet and a mimosa (strangely served in a giant wine glass), but I will definitely not come back."

  • "I always enjoy the food when I got o Ellendale's. This was the first time I've been and they've not had the omelet station. The waiter said it was due to the need for the extra space during Holiday brunches. I would suggest they rethink the seating layout b/c I think the omelet station is a popular feature that many folks look forward to. We'll continue to visit but probably not during a holiday as we love the build your own station. Still, always enjoyable when we go."

  • "The first thing the waiter stated was that the restaurant uses local products and has its own garden....obviously not applicable now in early spring. We were in a large cavernous room with a bar in one corner and a small stage in the other. The room was painted dark red, as if it were the ratskeller of a 1970's basement. The food was moderately above average. As an example: I had the rabbit with mushrooms on a bed of spaetzle, with a few slices of grilled yellow squash. The combination was heavy and overly sweet. All it need was to pair the rabbit/noodles with the tangy kale that came with other dishes, such as the shrimp and grits. "

  • "My wife and I arranged to meet our daughter who was passing through at this restaurant during the tail end of the lunch hour. There were very few people here so we took our time and chose to enjoy our daughter and son-in-law. I believe we were at our table for a total of about an hour. As we left we overheard a couple of the employees complaining about our "long" stay while they wanted to prep for dinner. The food was good, the physical atmosphere was quite pleasant, and the table service was also enjoyable. the only complaint we have is the rude behaviour of the employees as we left."

  • "Friends from work recommended this restaurant or I would never have known about it. It is so close to flight park and executive travel and so convenient for travel that I wish I had known about it before. I will be returning soon and next time will take advantage of the bar and entertainment."

  • "Very expensive Easter brunch and disappointing. We continue to get inconsistent meals at Ellendale's so we will not go back. We eat quite often in Nashville and thought this would be a treat for Easter Brunch but was more like food troughs. The food was not good. Sorry to write a bad review but it was horrible. "
