This time we made reservations and sat in the dining room. From the beginning we could not have had a better time. Chris ,our server was helpful and personable. We had drinks, a special salad that we shared, and two main entrees. I had pork and my wife had the duck. The olive bread was over the top. I also ordered the mac and cheese with lobster. During the meal we kept returning to how fantastic everything tasted including the wine. By desert we were both stuffed ,but ordered the one desert and one espresso. What a wonderful experience. We have only been here twice, but loved everything both times. They offer small plates/appetizers or full meals, with a nice variety of choices. The food here has a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. Certainly it is the best restaurant in Westerly that we've found, though that is a bit of a left-handed compliment. Almost comparable for food to Persimmon in Bristol.
We had tuna taco appetizer and homemade mozzarella. For Entrees one had the special Pork Chop and the other had yummy Tuna with noodles and Miso broth. A side of lobster mac and cheese was well worth having also.
Only complaint is that a few items are a bit pricey. I certainly don't mind paying for great food and service, but Entrees north of $30 is a bit steep for this area. I would try to keep Entrees priced @ 28 and below. Ella's most definitely lived up to its very fine reputation. From the moment we entered, until we waved goodby to the owners in the parking lot as we were leaving, we felt very welcomed and comfortable. Everyone was friendly, personable and knowledgable. Our server, Courtney, was most attentive.
The menu was amazing, with so many extraordinary choices. More often than not, farm to table fresh menus can be rather limited, but happily, this was not the case at Ella's. The wine list has a perfect mix for many tastes. Jim, our waiter, seemed to hover a bit, maybe because there were so few diners on a Wednesday night.

My pork chop special was perfectly carmelized and moist; the kale salad--which three of us ordered--was delicious to chew; and the Icelandic cod--which I tasted--was even better than the cod we ate in Iceland three weeks ago. Crispy, with a hot and sweet sauce that did not drown the calamari...well, we would go back just for that. The tuna tacos also melded a set of flavors into a delicious whole. Ordering them with the calamari gave us an experience of hot and cold, crispy and soft, sweet, spicy, and salty. We went with friends we don't see often and wanted to spend time catching up. Three of us had the scallop special with 3 large scallops topped with crab and then caramelized and we all thought it excellent. The fourth had duck and it received a similar rating.
