I was there on a Friday night during off-season, so it was mostly locals, fairly quiet ambiance, and a relaxing meal. The wait staff was attentive, yet not too attentive, which I appreciate the wait staff being in the background, not at my elbow the entire time. I thoroughly enjoyed the décor and I loved how the new management maintained the original huge logs, the fireplace, and down to earth feeling. The food is the reason I will not return. I had the bison burger. Upon delivery the bottom bun was so soggy the burger fell apart after my first few bites; I ate it with a knife and fork. Even after cutting it up the burger was so disappointing I didn't even finish it. The fries were nothing to write home about. My partner had the swordfish. It was mushy in texture, not a firmer texture we've enjoyed in other restaurants. The fish was really fatty. She did enjoy the lentils and squash.

The place has a western saloon feel. If you wear your jeans & cowboy boots, you'll blend in well. Probably not a romantic setting for a first date or "popping" the question. Service was good and staff attentive. Food was average to above average with appropriate size portions. Price was very good.

We decided to check out Maxwell's (now Elk Ave Prime?) during a wknd visit to Crested Butte. The service was excellent and so were our steaks. The only thing we might suggest/recommend is some changes to the sides that come with the steaks. Mine came with a PILE of fries...fine, but would have preferred other options. My boyfriend got the mashed potatoes and veggies. Veggies consisted of brussel sprouts, cauliflower and squash...not necessarily favorites and there wasn't anything special about them. :) The mashed potatoes were pretty salty too. Would be great to see a bit more variety (mushrooms, spinach, side salad,etc.). Will def try again. Off season pricing was very reasonable. OH - nice big bar w/big TV for watching the games.

I and two of my neighbors feel that the new owners have improved the menu. Food was very well prepared. Maxwell's has always had great ambiance and bar. If the weather is good, sit on the patio with views of Mount Crested Butte.

We really enjoyed every minute from our hostess, server Tyler and meeting new chef and owner Curtis Higgins. The food was delicious and the wine list extensive. We look forward to a return visit next year under the new name of Elk Avenue Prime!

We had a reservation for 9 people. We were seated on time, however, they forgot to assign a waitress to our table. We were unsuccessful at flagging down the waitress at the adjacent table. After 30 minutes, one of our party spoke to the hostess. She apologized and assigned us a waitress. The waitress was very good, the only good thing about the whole evening. Some of us had the bass special, which was over cooked and oily. The kids liked the food off the kids menu. In retrospect, we should have left when we realized that we didn't have a waitress because we could have eaten better somewhere at significantly less cost.
