Portofino's restaurant, located at 897 Post Road in Warwick, Rhode Island, has been an institution in Rhode Island for the last 25 years.

Elizabeth's Portofino is a place you can come casually dressed and be seated in the cafe, or you can be seated in the elegant dining room which is filled with flowers and candlelit tables. Both share the aroma of the kitchen which is serving hearty ethnic Italian dishes and light fare as well. You can't pass up the roasted garlic served with warm bread and extra virgin olive oil brought to every table. Also, in the warmer weather, come check out the outdoor patio overlooking the cranberry pond. You can order from the regular menu or the bistro menu in all three dining rooms.   • "We have eaten there twice now as my wife had bought a restaurant.com deal but we could not use it the first time because friends came with us and they also had one. You can only use 1 per table, this is not really good if you want to impress new customers. Service is very good, the olive oil used with the bread is very good, and they bring Garlic out and heat it which is cool. Unfortunately there is a microwave out in plain site and as Robert Irvine says there should never be a microwave in a restaurant. The food is good, they use a mix in my opinion of high quality and lower quality foods. My first visit I got the scallops, they were not seared properly but were good, the risotto was not good. Second visit I had chickenparm which was good"

  • "We wanted a quiet, delicious dinner just for the two of us. While we read the menu, the busboy delivered a head of roasted garlic and some delicious bread. We ordered wine from the wine list of I started with the eggplant ricotta, and my husband had the Carpaccio. Both were the best we have eaten. The eggplant was very thinly sliced, breaded, and brown with a creamy, light ricotta filling. The beef was also very thin, and topped with capers and shaved provolone. We followed that by the half-portions of Chicken Francese, and he the white Pescatore. We decided not to eat dessert, and our waitress brought us complimentary pizzelles and a small glass or house-made limoncello. We will return soon to try other things and enjoy the service!"

  • "We have eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit, eating outdoors this time. The babbling fountain and the look of being in a Tuscan garden overlooking the pond added a great ambiance to a wonderful meal. The RI calamari was well prepared, flavorful, and not chewy. The eggplant rollatini could have used more sauce. Chicken Marsalla was two large breast, with mushrooms and a light Marsela sauce. Rich tasting smashed potatoes and tender strings beans accompanied the chicken dish. The Veal Parmigina was a very good size portion of two pieces of tender veal one with a rich marinara sauce the other piece with melted cheese, it was served with penne done al dente. The Nutella Mousse was deliciously light and creamy."

  • "The food and service was excellent. But be forewarned: the restaurant's own description of the outdoor dining is overly generous. There is only a sliver of a view of the pond. You do get wonderful sight lines to the parking lot and trash dumpsters, though. Eat inside."

  • "I has wanted to try Elizabeth of Portofino's for a while. The overall feel of the restaurant was stuffy and a little outdated, stale. The bread was chewy and the roasted garlic was bland. The Caesar Salad and scallop Entrée was quite good, but my and my sister's entrees left much to be desired. My sister returned her fish Entrée, and chose not to try anything else. We decided to get dessert elsewhere."

  • "Happened to be traveling through Warwick and came upon Elizabeth of Portofino's. Thoroughly enjoyed the Veal Portofino which was cooked to perfection and flavorful. My spouse loved the jumbo scallop special. We could not pass up the hazelnut mousse and the lava cake which we both agreed were winners. Being a garlic lover, I fully enjoyed the whole roasted garlic with fresh bread. Service was excellent. Waitress was attentive, food was hot and courses were well timed. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely dine here again."

  • "We were in Providence for graduation and looking for a place to have dinner for a party of 10. I found this on line, read the reviews, liked the menu and decided to give it a try. Everything was perfect, table, server, meals. Could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone had a different meal, we had appetizers, wine and drinks and dessert. It was all wonderful and we were surprised at the final bill, expecting it to be much more. Great find and if I am in the area again, will definitely go back."

At some point I heard about Portofino's and thought of it to be an amazing Italian restaurant that you could only dine if lucky enough to receive a personal invite. Not realistically, but the thought represents my image of what I thought Portofino's was. I had never been to the restautrant although passing it over the years thousands of times. I finally had the opportunity to visit with a restauarant.com voucher and was so excited to do do. Beautifully dressed was my guest and I preprared to have an experience at Portofino's. I must tell you that dream was short-lived. The food was horrible. Unfortunately I will never return nor reccommend to anyone."

  • "The food was okay to good, nothing special, probably a bit overpriced for its quality. The service was courteous and competent, neither poor or notable. For example, our young waitress had no understanding of the wine list, even though it was limited. The place had people packed tightly in. I had a patron from another party backed up to me very tightly and could not have moved a few inches back if I wanted to. I really hate to be packed in so tightly. In fact, our waitress could not move from one side of our table to another without going around several other tables and through another small room. The dining room was not particularly nice, although I would not say it was ugly or anything. There is insufficient parking. "

  • "The service was excellent! We were celebrating my parents 60th anniversary. They gave us a complimentary champagne toast and served a cake that we brought with us. Our waiter was fabulous! However, I was very disappointed in the food. It was not as good as previous times I have been there. It didn't seem like it was freshly made and did not have much flavor. This was the second time I was not thrilled with the food which is what people have always raved about. Not sure what the change was but they need to change it back"

  • "Our first time to Elizabeth's of Portofino and it won't be our last. Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food and great service from our waitperson. The rosemary skewered scallops were done just right and the citrus risotto was the perfect side. The grilled salmon, which my husband chose, was done perfectly and also came with the risotto. A spring mix side salad was also on both plates. A shared tiramisu topped off our dinner and was delicious. As an ending to your meal they bring to the table small shot glasses of Lemoncello liqueur and two pizzeles sprinkled with powdered sugar; a nice touch. There is a separate room with a bar and more dining tables. On the day we went, which was a Saturday, they had live entertainment."

  • "The on line reservation was spot on. We were seated immediately. Server (Mike) friendly and knowledgeable. Food was great. The French style seating was a bit to be desired as we sat at a table for 2 in the middle of a 4 top and another couple. It was hard to concentrate on our own conversation. It seemed more of a table to make extra money on a 2 top rather than a nice dining experience."

  • "Went there on a Thursday night with another couple. Made reservations online just to be sure we would have a table. Arrived at 5:45pm and the resturant had only a few patrons. Service was good, had to send back one meal because it was "over cooked". They did remake the meal but there was no compensation for the inconvenience. Food was good. Would go back again"

  • "I automatically assume that, if a restaurant is part of Open Table, it's going to be great. This was very far from great. My meal was mediocre, and my friend's was downright tasteless: her Roasted Cod entree consisted of cooked cod (I say "cooked" not "roasted" -- it was just pale and blah) along with plain white rice and a bunch of dressing-free greens. A huge disappointment!"
