We were a group of 4 celebrating a birthday. The meal was excellent and beautiful as well. Service was excellent. It's difficult to choose what to order as everything is equally good. I can definitely recommend what I had - from the truffled fries and aioli to the filet mignon to the bananas foster bread pudding - and don't forget the wine! Excellent meal; I can't wait to go back.

White River Junction may not be known as a bastion of fine dining, but Elixir may change that. Simply but tastefully decorated without a lot of ambient noise that can make it difficult to hold a conversation. The food was scrumptious. I enjoyed every bite and even managed to squeeze in dessert, a warm chocolate confection that lingers in my memory as possibly the best dessert I have ever had.

Elixir is consistently superb. I had a party of six, a mix of international and West Coast guests. The menu is relatively small, but each dish is well-prepared and presented. My party's tastes running from filet mignon to vegetarian (with many of the products locally sourced). Two guests had a special request for preparation of the food, and this was accommodated. The owner/chef, Skip, makes food and service work with style. The wine list has expanded over the past year, but as before Skip selects the wines himself, prices them moderately, and obliges with recommendations. Highly recommended for a romantic party of two or for larger parties of friends and business associates.

My husband picked this restaurant which was 10 mins away from our lodging in Norwich. The menu didn't look all the great but wow! Our food came not too fast or too slow. The food was amazing and portion was huge. I shared my meal with my son (he's not big enough to eat a full plate) and I was still satisfyingly full. I didn't try the drinks but not really a place for someone looking for fruity, iced drinks like daiquiris. The place had high chairs but did not have a change table in the washroom. I would go again but maybe when my son is no longer in diapers or maybe we'll be on vacation without him.

I love this restaurant and I live no where near it. I visit relatives in Vermont (from Florida) and have been there 5 times over the years. There is something unique about the approach to food here. I am vegan and the options for me are some of the best I've had. I never feel like I'm out of place with a flashing sign "VEGAN" hanging over my head. There is a salad for me, and a gorgeous entree (the nori dish). This time, I even had dessert - coconut ice cream with grilled pineapple and cloves. It was stunning. I had a nibble of my husband's chocolate dessert and this was hands down a winner. And even I will admit, chocolate anything is tough to top. The waitress remembered us and the overall experience coming here is just lovely.

I live in Chittenden County and happened to be down in White River for a meeting. I had read some positive reviews on-line about this "hidden gem" and was curious to try it. Elixir lived up to all my expectations and more. The food was interesting and served beautifully and the staff was knowledgeable and attentive. I had the scallops and could not have been happier. I appreciate the graciousness of the owner who came to meet us and inquire about our dining experience. The restaurant is hip and elegant and rivals any of the five star dining experiences I have had in Burlington. Even though it's and hour and 1/2 away, I would drive there in a heartbeat just to eat again at Elixir.

I've been to Elixir at least 10 times. The menu is limited, but they do have specials, usually geared to meet eaters. The truffled fries are excellent if you get there early (the oil gets old later in the evening), and if you can't find something you like on the main menu, you can cobble together a few appetizers. They should take the pancetta out of the risotto cakes (or make it optional). Satisfying drink menu, appropriate pricing, well-cooked food (though if you like bold flavors, you might be disappointed), and friendly staff make this a place worth coming back to--if you don't mind choosing from 6 (7 with the specials) main dishes. Still, it's the best place in the area.

We had never been to White River Junction before and picked Elixir because our hotel suggested it. We were only able to get a 8.30pm reservation but were able to dine at the bar at 7pm. Great Food. Bartender was really pleasant and funny and service minded. Definitely the place in WRJ to dine. Our best recommendations of the staff, food and ambience.

I wasn't very hopeful when I approached the locale but was very pleasantly surprized when we got in. We were cordially recieved. The drinks very excellent and the food notable. Try the fois gras and the peanut crusted chicken ... excellent. The service was friendly. I would go back in a minute.

Elixir is quirky in that it's in a part of White River Jct. which is redefining itself, though the restaurant itself is a gem. Located along the railroad tracks, which are still in use for freight and Amtrak, the location is a bit unusual but the decor and ambience are excellent. The truffle fries were good but we didn't find them as amazing as a previous reviewer. My filet mignon was so tender I didn't need the steak knife provided. It was delicious and my only regret was that there were only two round slices on the plate. My husband had a very generous portion of tasty sea scallops though the veggie-starch mix accompanying it needed more flavoring. The prices are high enough to make it a special event kind of place. We'll be back.
