Elite CafeGreat comfort foodHad a girls night at Elite Cafe and ordered all starters and sides. I highly recommend the biscuits, sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. Great ambiance, service and thoroughly enjoyable experience! Loved the romantic little booths.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great nite at EliteThe Elite Cafe never falls short on drinks, food, atmosphere, and valet parking!!!!! This spot has become an institution in the Fillmore district. Its a great destination for two or eight. This time we were having a celebration and had it all cocktails, wine, appetizers, soup, entrees, desert, coffee, and the famous "biscuits". With all that food and friends we were all left satisfied. Also brunch is a must!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food + serviceAll entrees were excellent---server was very attentive and helpful in dealing with one of our party's food allergies---and the biscuits are to die for, what can I say?5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Elite always deliversThe Elite always delivers. The classic bar and atmosphere is always wonderful, the cocktails are excellent, and the southern food is always tasty and satisfying.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful andThe food was wonderful and I loved the atmosphere of this old-style gem. I had a booth which provided both some privacy and noise reduction. My only complaint was the slow service of the food. I don't know if they were short staffed on the night that we were there, but we arrived at 7:15 for dinner and did not get out until close to 9:15. I would have expected to be finished closer to 8:30-8:45. I noticed that even the hostess was serving dinners and the restaurant was not completely full, so maybe it was just an "off" night for service. Otherwise, the place was great.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent flavor! Best cornExcellent flavor! Best corn bread I ever had. Kobe steak was tender even at well done level. Sauce went really well with the beef. Blueberry bread pudding was delicious. I question the pairing with lemon ice cream. It's refreshing, but I feel like maybe vanilla would have been better. We had a booth which gave us privacy and felt like we were on a train. I also ordered the seafood gumbo. It was good, but it didn't knock me off my chair. I heard someone rave about it on TV, so I had high expectations. Service was good. It's a neighborhood gem.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, vintage, yummy! The Elite Cafe, with it's comfortable, vintage booths that transport you into the 1920's era, was fun. The people were welcoming, even though we were early for dinner. After a drink at the bar, we sat down and proceeded to order the oysters, deviled eggs, mushroom soup, mac and cheese and salad washed down with a delightful but pricey ($50)chenin blanc. They didn't have the rose that we wanted.
Everything was delicious.
Afterwards,we took a stroll around the somewhat funky but chic neighborhood that embodies the Elite.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe biscuits , raw oystersThe biscuits , raw oysters and the crusted catfish were great.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was intilaly attentiveThe service was intilaly attentive and then became less so when the restaurant became busy. More importantly, we booked a table for 5 and they put us in a booth for 4 with a chair at the end of the table which was super uncomfortable, right in the flow of traffic.
However, the food was very good and the staff were super nice. I woudl go back in a heartbeat.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMElite Dining on FillmoreAlways a good, friendly restaurant with good food and located in a wonderful little area of S.F. on Fillmore filled with fun shops to stroll and the Sundance theatre just down the road.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal but the staffFantastic meal but the staff really pushed us out the door during our brunch4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly service and deliciousFriendly service and delicious food. We sat down at 9:00pm, didn't order until 9:55pm and we never felt rushed once even though they stop serving at 10:00pm.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss the Elite Cafe.Don't miss the Elite Cafe. It's a great blend of terrific New Orleans food (biscuits, etoufee, gumbo. seafood salads, and beignet), atmospheric interior (separate booths and a classic New Orleans even San Francisco look), and professional and knowing service. Food is amazing although a tad bit expensive.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food and the sides.Love the food and the sides. Brings me back to New Orleans. Great booths for intimate dining...2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Orleans by the BayI drove 1.5 hours through rush hour traffic to get to the Elite Cafe for Mardi Gras dinner, and it was worth the trip.
I ordered the gumbo and the jambalaya.
Both were colorfully presented and delicious.
Enjoyed the high ratio of meat/vegetables to rice in the jambalaya.
The restaurant manager recommended the cornbread or biscuits.
I chose the cornbread and thought it was some of the best cornbread I've ever had.
Also enjoyed the mini pecan pie tart served warm with ice cream and spiked whipped cream.
I'll have to go back to try a few of the other dishes I missed.
Highly recommend the restaurant2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI am not really Pacific HeightsI am not really Pacific Heights type but this place is worth braving the liboutin wielding neighborhood inhabitants. Some of the best Beignets outside of NOLA. The BBQ Shrimp could have had some more punch in the flavor dept. The mussels were a gem.2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality EverythingIf I can eat something and not have indigestion/heartburn later, than that place is golden. Elite cafe had wonderful food that wasn't loaded with a bunch of sauces or garlic or spices. They just let the food taste like it was meant to. And the portions were perfectly sized (I didn't feel like rolling out the door). The prices are a bit on the high side, but for the quality of the food, it's understandable and reasonable.2/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
