  • "For the past three years, my partner and a close friend have received their birthday coupons from the Big Burrito Group. Since their birthdays are within two weeks of each other, there is a three-day overlap when they can use their coupons together. So our two couples have begun a tradition of celebrating the two birthdays at Eleven. We have always felt a special sense of occasion with excellent food and service. It's just one of the reasons that Eleven has become our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. This year, I went with the vegetarian tasting menu again and enjoyed it completely again. We'll continue the tradition as long as we are able."

The wine list was OK but when I ordered a $125 bottle of French wine it turned out the wine manager could not find the bottle even though it was listed and then made a substitute (recommended they said) which when opened and tasted was really not in the same taste zone as the listed bottle. The service was casual and at times good and at other times hard to find a waiter. Expectations may have been higher than they should have been. It was a good meal but not extraordinary."

  • "The entire dining experience was good to very good but not great. The waiter put a damper on the evening by being quite snooty from the getgo. Others of the wait staff were much more pleasant. Food was good especially the cavatelli appetizer which was excellent. Main dish crab cake was ok...nothing special. Halibut was also outstanding. We had a nice evening...would try again"

It is not an inexpensive place to dine, yet I always feel that, more than other comparable restaurants, I have gotten my money's worth. The service is always excellent, whether I am dining with women friends or my spouse. The presentation of the food is artistic and the food is delicious. I love Big Burrito group restaurants, but Eleven, to my way of thinking, is the best of the lot."

  • "Food is still good, but the menu could use an update. Same items all the time. Service was poor. The check was brought before we finished eating, and we were never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. Server asked if I wanted to leave the tip from the gift card, but then screwed it up so I couldn't, so I had to leave cash. Then he acted like it was something I did wrong, and gave me some attitude. I used to think that this was the best brunch in Pittsburgh, but not anymore. It will be awhile before I come back."

I agreed because I had already been there once and the second visit reconfirmed the impression. I got the tasting menu (4 courses) -- excellent presentation... great, intense flavors... and very skilled wine pairings, with two in particular that I really liked. Dinner was at a leisurely pace, very attentive waiter. We asked for a quieter area and were satisfied with the result -- this is not the hushed, quiet-as-a-tomb ambience of some high-end places, but it's good enough. Pre-dinner martinis at the bar were excellent as well. Bottom line -- still the top choice in Pittsburgh as far as I'm concerned."

  • "My wife and I used a Big Burrito birthday coupon as an occasion to visit Eleven. We've been to most of the Big Burrito restaurants, and we've loved all of our experiences. We had high expectations and were not disappointed. Each dish was a work of art, a creative balance of flavors to be savored. I ordered the Grilled Swordfish and found it to be amazing--the combination of chorizo, peppers, garlic, clams, oysters, and pasta was absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the Seared Salmon; it was more delicate but equally amazing. We split the Warm Dark Chocolate Cake, and apart from the small portion size, it was perfect."

  • "As a family of 4, we had a great time at Eleven. PACE YOURSELF - so you will be able to take advantage of the wonderful homemade delights. From appetizers - spaghetti (with lobster)? - to amazing desserts (selection of sorbets)... we also had the crab cake, oysters and creme brûlée and would recommend all without hesitation. In between we were treated to a selection of homemade breads and wonderfully combined entrees, with the interesting sides helping us make our decisions. This review cannot go without mentioning the top-notch Manhatten. My only regret - not trying Eleven's version of the Moscow Mule."

  • "Our long awaited romantic evening was rewarded with good service, no wait, and extremely fine food. However, we were disappointed with the seating as I could (if desired) reach out and touch my neighbors plates or simply join in with their conversation. It appears Eleven has a number of very private dining tables, which I would request, but we were placed in 1 of 5 tables that were designed to be converted into a long table of 10 or 12 if necessary; however, this night it was set for 5 parties of 2 - even so tight the waiter could not stand between the tables but behind my chair. Also, be prepared to drop about $150 for 2 glasses of wine, salads, and entrees."

  • "I enrolled in the Big Burrito Birthday Club sometime ago and have come here every year since, which helps the sting of the dinner bill. I had the rib eye med-rare and it was perfect. Hubby had the NY Strip and he was happy with it as well. The oyster and tuna tartare appetizers were outstanding too. Great glass of wine with dinner, preceded by a manhattan for him and vodka martini (straight up-olives) for me. Very good service. Awesome dinner experience all the way around."

  • "This restaurant is always a winner to me! Gluten free knowledgeable also! Everything was amazing from drinks to dessert! My only disappointment is one I have usually everywhere, why can't restaurants keep some gluten free rolls in the freezer to serve with dinner? It doesn't stop me from enjoying my meal, just a slight disappointment! Would go back just for drinks!!!"

  • "Eleven has a sit down, delicious, elegant brunch on Sundays. We ( party of 6) enjoyed the prix fix brunch . The service is attentive and not intrusive. It includes a choice if appetizers ranging from Oysters, charcuterie , to beignets. Breadbaskets full of croissant, muffins, biscuits. Entree choice of fantastic eggs Benedict, various omelets, Fish. There is something for everyone and it all Is delectable, so it's difficult to choose. I guess I'll have to go back and try the rest. :)"

  • "When visiting a friend and Pittsburgh local this past weekend, we chose to dine at ELEVEN before attending a black tie event. We started with oysters on the half shell and cava, and the spicy pear ginger sauce that came with the oysters was surprisingly good, though with quite a kick. For my entree I selected the seared halibut over creme fraiche potato puree with brussel sprouts and beet sauce. It was outstanding. In my opinion, the food is on point, however the decor is the slightly dated looking and the overall atmosphere left something to be desired. Despite that, I would dine here again."

  • "The selection is very good - upscale brunch items. The Eggs Benedict (came with a refreshing citrus salad) and Smoked Lamb Huevos Rancheros were both very good. The Prix Fixe Brunch option is a good deal - appetizer, entrée and brunch cocktail for $25. The Ruby Red was so good I had two! We also shared the Warm Chocolate Cake which they put a candle and Happy Birthday on a chocolate square for my husbands birthday. Very nice touch. We sat upstairs in a secluded area with just 2 tables. Lovely setting overlooking the main dining room but there was a stereo speaker a little too close and a little too loud. Service was great, well timed, never rushed."

My husband had the steak, and it was perfectly cooked, and I had the scallops, amazing! The only thing I have to note is that online it says this is an upscale establishment, so we came dressed to impress, only to see other diners in jeans. Outside of this we highly recommend Eleven!"
