Last Saturday, they fell short of our expectations. We sat in the table overlooking the bar and found that the upstairs bartender also did double duty as the server for our table. While taking care of our group, the service was good, but the delays between his visits to the table made our dinner longer than anticipated and we had to take our desserts to go so we would not be late for a show. He was a good fellow, just spread too thin.
Our food was outstanding - as were our desserts when we had the chance to enjoy them later - so we will return but will clarify that our table will have a server who does not double as bartender.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated my birthday atCelebrated my birthday at Eleven...one of my favorite Pittsburgh eating places. The food was excellent as always. Service was exceptional. I was especially impressed with the menu selections. There was something for everyone's palate. Everyone at our table shared bites so it was a wonderful way to sample the best of Eleven. Even though my guests and I were quite full at the end of dinner, the dessert menu was too enticing to refuse. We were seated upstairs and while the noise level was lower, it is still accoustically quite lively. This was more than offset by the outstanding service and food. Our server made some suggestions and they proved to be excellent. Our meals were delicious.

Once again, we had a great meal and a great time. The food was excellent. I chose for the beet salad, pork-chop entree, and cannoli dessert; every course was excellent. So was the service. Our server, Michael, knew the menu well and responded to our questions with recommendations that satisfied each of us. The only reason I knocked Eleven down a notch was because the waiter was a little too intrusive and overbearing. I would take a break to take a sip of wine and he'd try to take my dish. One of my pet peeves is clearing one guest's dish while the other is still eating. And his conversation was awkward. But on the whole, everything came out in a timely manner and great food. After all it is part of the Big Burrito Group. While I am mildly fond of burritos, the name is hardly a confidence builder when looking at Eleven’s menu and prices. If a marketing consultant suggested the holding company’s name, I am thankful that he or she was kept away from the kitchen.
Eleven is a delight. Our server was Drew and he was intelligent, well versed in the wine selection, knowledgeable about the menu selections and method of preparation and was not afraid to subtly steer us to wise choices. He was attentive without being obsequious; friendly, yet sufficiently formal in keeping with the surroundings.
