  • "As my husband described it so well, "It's dinner, AND a show." Many of the the presentations are participatory and FUN. Not every dish was a hit out of the park, but the total experience of 14 small courses and at least six other tastes and amuses made for a wonderful evening for us and our guests. Given how elaborate their dinners are, we were impressed by how new all the dishes were, with just a few encores of some favorites from past seasons. We missed the egg creams but they had house-bottled NY-deli-style sodas for their hot pastrami course! We were glad to learn that their menu changes each season (every three months), so we look forward to going back soon! An excellent value for a special occasion."

Attention to detail is the epitome of a 3 Michelin star restaurant and from the moment we arrived and were greeted to the moment we left this highest level was maintained. The serviced throughout the meal was seamless great credit should be given to all staff involved as some were practically invisible ( in a good way!) when clearing plates and cutlery ready for the next course. Further , we felt very much the meal had been prepared specially for us given the level of attention we received at the table , yet it was clear all tables were receiving similar attention so again credit to the training and instilled level of pride from all involved in the service."

The staff and kitchen are spectacular. The environment is stunning. The cost is staggering. This is a restaurant for very special moments. I wish the restaurant would return to former menus offering some choices for diners. The fixed menu is choreographed beautifully but diners feel a bit besieged by little choice and too much food."

  • "Great meal, and certainly a fun evening. Unfortunately did not have the wow factor we were expecting. We would go back to Alinea in a flash, but don't feel compelled to rush back to EMP. Lovely looking room, but all four members of our party (male and female) were quite uncomfortable with the chilled/constantly drafty temperature of the room. staff offered the women wraps to help warm up, and it helped a bit. Sadly not enough. Unfortunate to feel uncomfortable while eating at such a lovely (3 Michelin star) restaurant. Have never experienced such a thing in a Michelin rated restaurant until now."

  • "its a wonderful tasting menu, all very nice. its a fixed price 200USD And you can't choose any of the plates so go prepared for that. Once its a fixed list you must go with time (about 3h). I dont recommend choosing wine because the menu brings some beverages with it. Maximum a glass or a cocktail to start."

  • "While the food tasted good and was prepared well, the gimmicky nature of presenting each dish as a history lesson of New York overshadowed the chef's personality. Who is Daniel Humm? Well, he appreciates New York, it's producers, products, history and flavors. But who is he as a chef? I am not sure I found out at my 3.5 hour lunch. None of the dishes, and there were many, stuck out as being special in my mind. What made them uniquely Humm? I won't think back on the food with fond remembrance and think 'oh yes, that was truly great,' because nothing was. Everything was very good, I assure you, but for the time and money you can have a greater, more memorable food experience elsewhere."

Three or four very relevant and clear, but uncommon questions, and a few explanations were absolutely so juxtaposed to the stuff you get at many fine diners that we knew we were up for something not just special but magnificent. And then came the food. My main measurement of great restaurants is not having any "misses" in a degustation - tick. Next comes new flavours and some surprises - tick, tick, tick. After that comes the fun, theatre, company, and a bill that is either commensurate or close to what you just experienced - all ticks."

  • "We had high expectations for our late night dinner appointment for 4 and we were not disappointed! Excellent service! Great food and choice pairings of wine! We had a good table with a vantage view of the restaurant. Despite its high ceiling, the ambience was cozy and warm and not intimidating. As there was no menu shown to us we were constantly kept in suspense! We were only told that the main course was either duck or lamb. Otherwise you had a choice of either a savouries(celery, coffee) or sweet(cherry, strawberry) touch to your meal. The tasting menu was a 3-hour 15 course event. The Waldorf salad was refreshing and the lobster was amazing. Everyone loved the lamb."

  • "this place is just amazing! turing 3 hours they take you on a journey to discover flavours with all your senses. they try not just to make good food, the way they present it, how they prepare it and how it relates to NY or to the historie, they tell you a story which makes lunch there to an adventure. the service was super firendly and we could also talk to the chef. the restaurant is a super high and wide room with giant glasswindows so it was surprising how quiet it is. it was the best place i could imagine to celebrate my boyfriends birthday! EMP we will come again!!!"

From the warm welcome given to us by Marta, who really had done her homework and seemed to know us personally, to the service throughout the lunch, the wines and other beverages in our wine pairing and the fantastic food, everything was perfect. It is difficult to compare other restaurants at this level, but I would say, this must be very close to the sky!"

  • "For Memorial Day, a friend and I went to celebrate at the World's 4th best restaurant, according to San Pellagrino, and a 3-Michelin Star hotspot. See http://www.theworlds50best.com/ For $225 not including tax or tip, we were treated with a 15-course lunch. The meal was prepared beautifully. Service as impeccable. The food was intriguing and discussion worthy. However, there were only a few truly standout dishes in terms of taste. While everything was pleasant to eat, there were only about 2-3 that were phenomenal. Going to this type of restaurant though was worth the experience, at least, once for us to see what the fuss was all about. Make your own judgment if you can afford it."

In the context of the price, wonderful presentation, large staff, superb kitchen facilities, and spacious seating, I thought more of the food should be excellent. Also, there is something offsetting about being served pop soda and a picnic basket amid such a formal setting. The amount of waste (i.e. differential between the sliver of duck breast served and the whole duck as presented) was disturbing. "

  • "Such an unbelievable experience at EMP. The Cuisine, Service, and Ambiance totally overwhelmed my great expectations for this landmark establishment. One can see why this is rated the best restaurant in America is it was hands down the best lunch I've ever had. Corwin the sommelier did a fantastic job and it was great to meet Dustin Wilson and he was super gracious and welcoming. The wine pairing for the tasting was a unique and fantastic experience. The pastrami course blew me away and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. Thank you EMP!! I will most definitely be back!"
