Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent service, excellent food. Service was impeccable -- not overbearing, helpful, and attentive. Highly recommend. Make room for the molten chocolate cake!"

  • "ELEMENTS is a fabulous restaurant for both the food and the ambiance! This was the 3rd time dining there, but the first for lunchtime. All 3 of our lunch meals were excellent (bento box, oyster salad and grilled steak) and the dessert (beignets) wonderful as well. Presentation was superb and every bite a pure delight. The new wine bar looks wonderful!"

  • "Our party if six enjoyed a great dining experience beginning with the tuna tacos and refreshing cocktails. All of our entreés were interesting and delicious. My personal favorites were the bouillabaisse and the lobster and scallops; although my wife's duck and dumpling dish was also very interesting and delightful. I highly recommend Elements!"

  • "Beautiful, contemporary atmosphere combined with delicious and artfully presented pan-Asian food made for a lovely lunch. Service was a little slow at times, but not to the point of annoyance. I would definitely go back and bring more friends."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "As good as this restaurant is, the service was not top notch. The sever should make sure the water glasses are full. The patron should not have to ask!"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Food was ok...asked for salmon well done and it was rare...out of appetizer we ordered....cornbread with tasso was terrible.... Waiter was less than mediocre....was more worried about going home...she was the pits......"

  • "The Beauty--The restaurant is a lovely setting with an Asian touch. The tables are well spaced and nicely set. Unfortunately all the hard surfaces make the restaurant loud. It is difficult to have a quiet conversation even with the restaurant is note completely full. The service was very good and very responsive to our needs for a quick meal. The wine selection was very nice. The Beast--the food was mediocre at best. Saigon noodles h served barely warm not hot. "Two lobsters" actually monkfish with miniscule pieces of crawfish was salty and unbalanced. A great room with attentive service deserves better food."

  • "I have been here a few times recently and have been pleased each time. The lobster sushi special appetizer was delicious as was the lobster spring rolls. Yum Yum!"

  • "Great neighborhood restaurant. Great parking. Food was presented in a beautiful way. Lovely looking restaurant inside."

  • "The food is always terrific and the service is great."

  • "My husband and I went there for a Friday night out and found the food, wine, the staff, and ambiance just perfect. We were so appreciative to have all of the parts of a great dinner out come together. Thank you, Elements."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "My wife and I have dined here several times and have always been very pleased with the food. It is consistently interesting and very well prepared and presented. While not inexpensive, the food is at least as good as some more expensive area choices. My only concern, is the noise level. When enjoying fine dining we prefer a quiet atmosphere. I would hope that the management of Elements will consider adding some sort of sound proofing to the dining room."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Dining was very pleasant through the main course. Then the restaurant started filling up, the waiters became more busy, and we had to wait one hour before seeing a waiter after receiving our desert menu. By that time we were in no mood to do anything but pay and leave. We don't plan to return. Also, after the room filled the noise level was incredibly loud. A very unpleasant evening!"

  • "You have to order the asparagas appetizer. It's served tempura style and it is amazing!!! Terrific pad thai as well. This restaurant is quickly emerging as my favorite lunch spot!"
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "Excellenty food wine and good service but noise level very high, perhaps because this was a Saturday evening?"
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "Our group of five had an extraordinarily great time. Our server, Mary, is absolutely the best! We always ask for her as she just takes care of us with class. Food was delicious and presentation exquisite. Thank you ,"

  • "I think Elements is 'trying' but the quality of the food and service is just not up to par with surronding restuarants in chapel hill and durham. The bread was great but served with margarine spread mixed with what tasted like sugar. With all the local butter available I was surprised to see margarine served. Overall the apps and dinner lacked taste. Friends gave this place high marks and maybe we went on an off night (Saturday). For the price the quality of the food should be improved. Our waiter did not offer the dessert menu. We had an inexperienced waiter but still after dishing $200 you do expect comparable service."

  • "The filet was magnificent, and that may be an understatement. The prawns are very very good. And definitely try the Tuna Tacos!"
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "I've been here for both lunch and much preferred lunch, which is very out of the ordinary for me. More affordable, less-busy (which lends itself to better service) and better portions (I think they have the same size for lunch and dinner, but for lunch it's the right amount, whereas at dinner, I was left hungry). Overall, food is fantastic."

  • "They were very attentive to our needs. They asked us up front did we have a game to get to in order to get us out faster if needed. Waiter was very nice and suggested his favorite items. We were waiting on two of our party to arrive. When they got busy he suggested we may want to put our order in the next 5 minutes so it would be in front of the large crowd that was arriving. Food was excellent. Definitely we will be back."

  • "Elements has become my Go TO spot for lunch. Today the food was delicious as always. Service was mainly good. Though I took two friends who had not eaten there and we all laughed with the late-meal service. Waitress seemed in a hurry. One person asked for a cappacino which she brought never checking with the rest of us then or when she brought the cup. Second friend was going to ask for a cup of coffee but waitress was gone before she could ask. The room was noisier than usual, so we chalked it up to an especially busy day. They made up for it though with making it easy to linger for a long conversation after lunch."

  • "Overall, the food was delicious. My one qualm: We asked our waiter for a recommendation and he basically recommended everything (not helpful) and finally said the Prawns were their "signature dish." So, I ended up getting them. While very tasty, they are kind of a knock-off of Bonefish Grill's ever-popular "Bang Bang Shrimp." Still, very good."

  • "This was the second year in a row we celebrated Valentine's Day at Elements. Like last year, they offered both a special menu and their regular menu. Unlike last year, however, if one member of a couple wanted to order the special menu, both members needed to because the dessert on the special menu was designed for two. Since we both wanted the special menu, that was fine with us, but I was disappointed there was not the same flexibility as last year. The food was terrific -we both had the tuna flight as our starter and the beef wellington for our entree -- all delicious and presented beautifully. We had the wine pairings and liked the entree and dessert wines but not the sake that went with the tuna. Our waiter was Brian, who's great."

  • "The restaurant is expanding to include a wine cellar and private dining room for group. They have now hired a "sommelier" and their wine list has already started to show high-end wine choices at very affordable price. The food is always fresh and delicious."

  • "Elements has not disappointed us in several visits. This was our first lunch-Valentines Day- festive red napkins-modern inviting atmosphere. Greeted at door by manager-welcomed. Tables are spaced nicely. Asian flair food excellent- daily quiche had Asian noodles mixed in with seafood in a nice casserole-very generous portion-ate half and took other half home--I would like this recipe - it was that good. My wife had an outstanding ginger-mohito and I had a nice Riesling. Wife had Pad Thai - nice large shrimp and scallops-perfectly cooked--not quite as much peanut flavor as traditional pad thai but excellent."

  • "Did the fixed tasting menu with wine flights for Valentine's Day. Excellent 3 course meal with tuna prepared in several ways as appetizer, tile fish and a cake for dessert. Could be improved with another course and several dessert choices. Wine selections were okay, but nothing special. But the food quality was excellent and reasonably priced at $45/person."

  • "Elements never fails to deliver the very best Asian fusion food around. Try the pad thai--there's nothing like it,"
    Dined on 2/10/2014
  • "Although Elements is a bit out of our regular price range we decided to try it out. We thought everything was wonderful and the food worth the price. The drinks were reasonably priced and also very good -- my wife had ginger mojitos and I was very happy to find Red Oak's Humminbird and Battlefield Boch available. When we have the cash available, we'll definitely come back again. Being able to make a reservation online was nice."

  • "Everything from start to finish was wonderful. My husband doesn't eat seafood so I was a bit worried his dishes wouldn't be as good as mine, but his we're actually almost better. The lamb kabob (special) app was easily the best lamb we've ever had. Will definitely be back."

  • "Being Asian, I am very particular about Asian food when dining out. This place is one of the best Asian restaurants in the area! They know how to use Asian seasonings properly. I recently had the beautifully arranged bento box lunch special with pan fried flounder (crispy on the outside & moist on the inside); crab & scallop shu mai (delicate flavor); rice; fruit and roasted brussel sprouts. I detest brussel sprouts but they managed to find a way to roast & season them so they were delicious. The menu changes seasonally, so visit often to try the various offerings. When you enter, you are immediately greeted by the gracious staff. Whether dining here for lunch or dinner, I leave happy and with a BIG smile. Best place in town!"

  • "Really enjoyed our meal here. Great selection, bright, fresh flavors. Our only complaint was that tables were very close and it lacked privacy."

  • "We enjoyed the evening and the food was a delight. One of us commented, "This is my new favorite..."."

  • "We were offered a table in the bar area, which in this case turned out to be quieter than the main dining room, though still at a fairly high energy level. We had a range of meat dishes and vegetarian dishes that turned out to be amazing. The French onion soup with the pho broth is incredible, as were the tuna tacos and the walnut prawns. I didn't care as much for the Elements roll, which was a spring roll with pork loin; the pork did not stand out, and the peanut sauce, while good, did nothing to enhance it. Elements is enlarging into the space next door, putting in a wine bar. I'll be eager to see what it's like when they're done."

  • "Elements is a welcome addition to the growing list of outstanding Chapel Hill dining choices. The food is excellent--great quality and attractively presented, service is consistently good & menu choices are varied and interesting. I also appreciate its accessibility--open for lunch and plenty of parking."

  • "We celebrated a birthday with a delicious dinner at Elements. We expected a wonderful meal based on past experience and Elements delivered! We feasted on spring rolls, salad, trigger fish special, mountain trout, and pork chop. The molten chocolate pot with coconut ice cream was to die for. We'll be back and heartly recommend that you give Elements a try."
