  • "We returned to Elements once again as my wife enjoyed it last time. The food is fair, but nothing more. The duck is so overly sauced and cloyingly sweet that I had to scrape the blueberry sauce off and pour soy sauce over it just to regain some semblance of balance. None of the four of us thought our meals were better than average (and we each tried a different entre, in addition to our appetizers). Similarly the service is acceptable at best. The waiter was inattentive and hard to find. The tables are small and barely fit four adults with our dishes. Considering the price of the meal, this was on the whole a rather disappointing dinner. Elaine's on Franklin Street is head and shoulders better, for the same price (or less)."

  • "I have been here before and had a better expereince. This place has a wonderful atmosphere and a high level of noise but acceptable. However food and service is variable. At times it has been one of the best and other times moderate like this time. We had a waiter who I suppose was new but it was annoying to not be able to get his attention. On several occasions he was looking at me and I called him over but he turned around and walked away. In terms of food the calamari and tuna tacos were very good. The soft shell crab was greasy."

  • "We impatiently waited for the restaurant to reopen from water damage and were absolutely delighted with returning to this culinary gem. The tuna tacos were out of this world. It was the best fish tacos that we've ever had. The Vietnamese Wedding Soup was full of fresh shrimp, gigantic pieces of white asparagus, a quail egg which created a wonderful blend of flavors. For the main course, we ordered the soft-shell crabs, which were huge and meaty, and perfectly prepared. The wine bar with the prepaid card is a lot of fun and a smart choice as it allowed us to taste several different wines over the course of dinner. The coconut layered cake rounded off the meal perfectly. We are going back this Friday! Chef Chuong is a true talent!"

  • "I am from New York and have been to so many wonderful restaurants. From the wine selection, appetizer, entree to dessert, each item was more delicious than the next. My friend cancelled but I wanted to have a chance to dine again. I had the tuna flight which was a wonderful sampling of different kinds of tuna. My main course was a stir fry Filet Mignon with wonderful accompaniments of a delicious blue cheese salad and truffle fries. I had a glass of Riesling and the Finale was the best Coconut Cake. So good but I could only eat half. Van, the owner is also a delight and makes you feel at home. Make reservations- you will love it!"

  • "We ordered halibut; it was overcooked (too dry) and a little too expensive. The service was good. When we and the other couple with us paid our credit card bills, they had accidentally switched our credit cards and we didn't notice. This required us to meet the next day to exchange cards; this was a waste of time. Also, the restaurant management, for some reason, had fired some of the waitstaff that we really liked; this was also disappointing."

But a very large floor staff in a half-full dining room somehow couldn't keep up with water refills or clearing empty plates. At one point, a second glass of wine was delayed because "there weren't any dry glasses, because we're so busy." Service needs some training and better communication. Chef could stand to ease up on the salt too -- my lamb chops were as salty as Fritoes."

  • "This was our first time eating at Elements. The service was great, it did take a few minutes for the server to get to us but once we ordered the service was great. We ordered the Calamari as an appetizer, the sauce was different, usually i have a remoulade sauce, but it was good, we also had the beet salad, both were good and we both ordered the scallops with creamed corn. very good, the scallops were good size and very good, cooked just right and i will have to say the creamed corn was the best that i have had. weird i know but just had to put that in. will definitely eat here again. "

  • "Everything was fine as usual except the inexperience of our server, who didn't ask what order we wanted small plates served in relation to the large plate one of us had. He brought out one small plate and then waited until it was finished before he put in the order for the entree. That left my partner with nothing to eat for the longest time! There was also a bouche that was never cleared away until I asked him to do so, much later in the meal. I don't think he should be fired. Just trained better."

  • "This is our fourth trip to Elements. Four of us went this time. The food and service were excellent. I can recommend the Viet rolls, the duck two-ways, and the honey-walnut prawns (esp. the honey-walnut prawns). The beignets for dessert are also excellent. The food is Asian fusion, the atmosphere is busy but quiet enough to talk easily, and service and food have been consistently good. We'll be back. Highly recommended. "

  • " I had never heard of this restaurant, hidden away in the corner of a row of shops attached to a large apartment complex. Nothing you could see from the street. The design of the dining room is a treat for the eyes. Black and white upholstered arm chairs and a very bright, contemporary vibe. (hint to ladies--if you wear black and white, you will look stunning in those armchairs!). Every table had fresh flowers and we sat in the corner, surrounded by green plants and orchids. The food was delicious. I had Shrimp+ Spicy Organic Honey Glaze,Candied Walnut,Napa Cabbage, Confetti Peppers,Jasmine Rice. It was wonderful, although I would have preferred not to have the odd coating on the shrimp (not sure what it was)-came with great side salad. "

The delicious food was overshadowed by her incompetence. Fresh oysters on the half-shell, Viet-rolls, scallop & avocado ceviche and scallop entree were all very fresh, prepared and presented well. New wine tasting room looks great! ***Please note, as of this writing, the online menu is not up-to-date. They no longer have sashimi on the menu, which was one of the reasons we chose to dine there. Outdoor patio is very nice, but the glass top tables need to be thoroughly cleaned. ~Recommend, with caution. "

However, the extremely modern decor and lots of wood and metal make the noise level a real issue for anyone with even a small degree of hearing loss or for more than two people who want to engage in conversation with dinner. At our most recent visit--dinner on a weeknight--the restaurant was essentially full at 7:30 and very loud. Never got to what I would consider an acceptable level."

Wine can be included with dinner and individual bottles then purchased at a 30% discount; terrific idea! Our dinners were fantastic as usual. Service is efficient with out being obtrusive. Had a delightful conversation with one of the chef/owner's daughter. Easy to see where Element priorities are; the quality of food and their customers. The folks really enjoy what they do! We have only rated four restaurants in the US as "outstanding"! (Our dining standards are high)! "
