A word from Elements Restaurant
Executive Chef Scott Anderson chose the name "elements" for the restaurant because he is passionate about sourcing fresh, local, organic ingredients and sustainably raised meats and seafood. He wants the very elements of your meal to play a major role in the taste of it. Then he and his team work to reveal the complementary flavor dimensions inherent in the elements by skillfully combining them—often in edgy new ways. Restaurant menus change constantly here, making this the dinner restaurant that is excitingly different every time you return.

If you're a foodie, you want to know where—and how--your food grew. It's fascinating, it's a good health practice and it provides extra pleasure from everyday experiences, like a meal with friends. elements is the American restaurant serving local steak and seafood, but with global influences in seasoning and cooking methods. A true culinary adventure!

Diner Reviews
  • "My husband I had the pleasure of enjoying the 6-course tasting menu designed for their last day in the present location. As expected, it was inventive, beautifully presented and of course, delicious. Add the wonderful service and a delightful staff and you have the recipe for a fabulous dining experience. We look forward to their new location in downtown Princeton in 2015."

  • "The restaurant is expensive but we enjoyed the food very much!"

  • "The place is pristine. The service was very good with only a couple of too long waiting for a glass of wine and water, nothing too bad though to ruin anything. The food was outstanding! It is pricey, but that we knew in advance. They had a nice surprise at the end when the waiter brought us a plate with 2 chocolates and written was " Anniversary""

  • "The food was pretty good, but on a value basis, I found it not so great. It was expensive for the level of quality, and the fact of the matter is, you can do much better in Manhattan and other places in NJ for less or equivalent money. On the other hand, the wine list was quite well priced. We walked in on Friday and despite the fact that the place was virtually empty, they told us the table was not ready and that there was a five minute wait. I assume that was just to get us to the bar, and I find that tactic particularly irritating."

  • "The food was very tasty, clean, and well presented. The service was almost too good. We lost count of how many people came to our table to ask us if everything was okay."

  • "This was our third time and once again the staff at Elements delivered a world class meal We started with a sampling of five cheeses the best of which was a Spanish bleu called Valdeon She had Muscovy Duck which was a mind blowing dish in every sense while I had vegetarian Pad Thai which was also wonderfully prepared. Can't wait to go back."

  • "The food was great, the service was slow. Dinner started at 7:45pm got desert at 10:30pm. Way too long. Dinner and a movie not possible."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "All aspects of the meal were stellar. A star was taken away because the price point is just a bit higher than I would expect for the area and because I think the food should speak for itself and the creative displays came across as gimmicky. Overall, excellent experience with wonderful service and delicious food. Enjoy!"

  • "We were very disappointed with Elements. The staff was great and very attentive, but the quality and preparation of the food, especially when considering the cost, was not at all acceptable. We were there for a graduation dinner, so the menu was limited, but not a single dish lived up to our expectations. Salads were mediocre, the scallop dish was overpowered by a way too spicy accompaniment, the special beef was NOT special (especially considering the supplemental cost), and the curry ice cream accompanying the chocolate dessert was so strong that it was unappetizing. Definitely not the perfect ending to a special day."

  • "First time dining here was absolutely incredible. We had the 6 course with beverage pairing. Every single thing brought to our table was not only delicious, but beautifully and artfully prepared. Yes, these are nyc prices, but just having the opportunity to experience fine dining in nyc style is enough to keep us going back for more to this Princeton gem. Valet parking is an added plus."

  • "Very pretentious approach to food which, unfortunately, does not translate into tasty dishes - just a bunch of greens randomly thrown together. Slow, inattentive service was capped by a live, wriggling worm found in my entrée. Unfazed waiter laughed it off and dismissed it as being from their "garden" and didn't bother offering a compensating dessert, drink, or at least taking the entrée off the tab. Too bad, because their décor is very attractive and makes a good impression upon first entering. But forget about good food."

  • "Although we are not "avid foodies" we due try to hit some of the top restaurants in southern and central NJ every other week. I must say that this night out was a disappointment. The food was average, unseasoned wait staff, overpriced, and the crowd was not one of ease of even elegance. We came home praising each other for not falling for the Emperor's New Clothes. If you are saving up for this night out, go elsewhere as you will have wasted a pretty penny. "

  • "Elements was a great place! The resturant was very accomodating with our reservations and it was a perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was superp. The food and dessert was outstanding. "

  • "Our first time. No question, the food was excellent. But given for the price, we would normally expect less noise, better table spacing and not a shared "wall bench," better background music. The service met our expectations."

  • "We had a starter and an entree; at about 50-60 dollars per person; and were still hungry after that. The food is well prepared and fresh (though not michelin-star quality) but the portion are small, miniscule ... "

  • "Bit pricey as I spend the same amount in NYC and Philly fine dining for two. Food was bit salty even though I mentioned low sodium diet for my Morher but she enjoyed the whole dining experience and that's all that matters."

  • "Went here for my husband's 40th birthday- he loves to eat organic, natural and clean food. This place was perfect. Dishes were unique and had a wide array of flavors on one plate. My husband had the 48 hour short rib. He enjoyed it, but really took to the dumplings, puree and bock choy (short rib was a bit fatty, and did not fall apart as he had hoped). Really appreciated the extras from the chef, and really appreciated the acknowledgement of husband's birthday w/special treat. Matt, our waiter was GREAT- he was very knowledgeable, and was very patient with my husband's inquiries. Definitely recommend if wanting to try REAL food. Delicious. "

  • "We celebrated a family birthday at Elements and it couldn't have been a better experience. There were out of town foodies in the group who were totally impressed. The service was impeccable and the little extra attention to it being a birthday celebration was lovely and appreciated. Never disappointed at Elements."

  • "I took my girlfriend to Elements to for a celebration. It was our first time at this restaurant. And we didn't get disappointed by it at all! Elements is a gem among restaurants in Princeton. In fact, it's one of the nicest restaurants I've visited in the States, with a bit of a European ambience. It's trendy, and official/upper classy, but still relaxed. It's expensive, but not too crazy ($200-250 for a three-course dinner for two). The food was excellent and original, the waiters were quick to serve but nice and helpful, not pushy. It's not super spacious, but not crowded at all. Great place for a special dinner!"

  • "This was not our first visit, one of many in the past and many more to come. It is our preferred restaurant for special events and it should be yours too. Everything about Elements is unique: the service, the amazing food and the overall experience. If you've never eaten there, the food is a genius combination of fresh, local ingredients, modern interpretation and superb presentation. Not only that, the friendly and professional staff will explain any dish to the smallest detail and will accommodate special requests if possible. My Pad Thai was very far from the noodle dish you'd get in a Thai restaurant (it was built completely of vegetables, including some delicious ramps), yet tasted like the familiar favorite. Go, you'll love it!"

  • "Due to my job, I have been very fortunate to eat in many high end restaurants in many US and European cities. This was easily the best culinary experience of my life. It's not cheap, and should be reserved for special occasions, but it is worth it!"

  • "Again we had a wonderful meal at Elements in Princeton. While not downtown certainly worth the trip. Service was excellent as were both meals. The portions were ample and the chef's treats are worthy of mention especially the beet soup!"

  • "My original review was too long apparently, so here is my condensed version: Decor - Lovely. Lots of attention to detail, a beautiful restaurant inside and out. Service - Very good. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, as was the sommelier who assisted us with our wine selections. Food - Lacking. I was really looking forward to dining here, but I was extremely disappointed. I felt like perhaps the Chef was trying a little too hard to be edgy and different. Flavor combinations did not always work, grains/nuts felt like they were afterthoughts, and 5 out of our 6 entrees came to the table luke-warm to cold - maybe a backup at the expediting table? It just fell a bit short for a restaurant of this caliber/reputation."

  • "If you're looking for an unusual dining experience with an adventurous menu, Mistral (same owners) in Princeton is a far better bet. Elements takes itself too seriously and the food, while interesting, was not as exciting as expected (for the price). The service was rather awkward, and atmosphere, on a Friday night, was non-existent. No music, chilly temperature and terrible lighting. Mistral, on the other hand, is vibrant, energetic with much better ambiance, and there is magic being made in the kitchen. Elements is disappointing."

  • "4th or 5th time to elements and as always amazing food. This is the first time we let the bar creat some surprise cocktails - result: I'd rather drink what the bartenders can make then pay almost twice as much for small glasses of wine. But their wine selection is great if wine is your only interest. Desert was different this time. While they are good it's more like the chief is trying to challenge you to what is actually a desert. Bottom line go with an ice-cream if you need something light."

  • "Fabulous culinary treats from start to finish! The bar bites are a great addition and the creative cocktails are delicious! HIghly recommended."

  • "Really great food - only negatives: wine list is limited and 2 top tables are too close to each other for a special occasion restaurant."

  • "Thank you for a wonderful meal! The service was excellent, and they were more than happy to accommodate our gluten free guest. Not to mention the food was delicious. :) Also, what a wine list!"

  • "Overall Very impressed with this restaurant. Ordered the hallibit and rabbit sausage which were both tasty. What topped it off was the little desserts that accompanied the large check which eased the suffering a little bit :) If I had more time would have liked to try the tasting menu. Maybe next time."

  • "Best food in Princeton for those special nights. I have had many good meals there but I hadn't been there for a year. the food and presentation seemed even better than I remembered. We got the 6 course tasting menu, which they were able to serve in 1.5 hrs and let us get to our 8pm show!"

  • "This was our second tasting menu foray and the staff at Elements did not disappoint. Each course was a wonderful blend of flavors and textures supported by a very friendly and attentive staff. Rather than go through each course I'll describe a few highlights. The langoustine with quince purée and a slice of truffle was exquisite. Another gem was roasted sun chokes and maitaki mushrooms served with an aronia berry purée. We somehow made room for desert which was a chocolate ganache and pistachio cake topped with house made brittle and buckwheat ice cream which was a perfect ending to a wonderful meal."
