Elaine’s is an American Bistro featuring American contemporary food prepared in house using time honored methods. We only feature fresh foods, as close to locally grown as we can make happen. We have an eclectic wine menu featuring the wines of California, Washington State, Oregon, along with some fine French wines, along with a smattering of Italian classics. Our Chefs have been sourced from the finest restaurants in America, both executive chefs have degrees from the famed Culinary Institute of America, they both went on to hone their skills with the finest chefs in America, before returning to Albuquerque to become partners in this venture.Continued

  • "We had the Octo & Marrow, Gnocchi, Spotted Black Pig, and the Duck Breast, and all were delicious and uniquely prepared. One minor quibble: we were hoping for more octopus and less marrow for the starter. For dessert we tried the Smore, and while it was tasty and interesting, we thought it would have been better with dark chocolate (rather than milk chocolate). Overall, we were impressed with the food and the experience. Due to the menu prices, this will remain on the splurge/special occasion list, but it is well worth it!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Elaine's and had a wonderful dinner. We felt that our dinner at Elaine's was certainly one of the best meals we've had in Albuquerque and would hold it's own against most restaurants in the U.S. The waitress was knowledgeable and helpful; service was very good, and the wine by glass was good. We were delighted to meet the owner, at the end of the meal, and appreciated that personal touch. The amuse du chef was a bit on the sweet side, but the Tuna Poke, the Gathering of Beets and a Treviso salad, were all very tasty. I was delighted to find that the Cod was being replaced by Scallops, which were truly delicious; my wife had the duck breast. Bravo to the chef, and Brava to Elaine!"

  • "Food preparation was unique, presentation was different and it all tasted very good. Service was excellent. I'd highly recommend Elaine's except the two-top seating is too close together-doesn't make for a very romantic setting. Maybe we will test it again when we can sit outside."

  • "We had a fantastic evening at Elaine's! It was our first time there and from the minute we walked in the door, we loved it. The decor is elegant, with a very contemporary energy. The service was wonderful, the food was outstanding, and Elaine made us feel very welcome. This is now our favorite ABQ fine dining spot, and we will be back!"

  • "My wife and I went to the restaurant on a Saturday evening at 6:00. No parking available. When we arrived we were seated immediately. Very little privacy as tables are seated next to each other in a row, not too romantic as the table next could have easily joined in our conversation, (they didn't, fortunately). It seemed like the Chef was most interested in serving a unique dinner menu. No steak, or even a good basic seafood dish. Everything on the menu was something that no other restaurant in town is serving. I had the bbq short rib, it was very good and my wife had the duck which was good. The waiter did not seem to know much about the items on the menu so was unable to properly answer questions about the menu. Will not return."

  • "Finally, a place for foodies in this city, where one can hang out and enjoy being in Nob Hill. Artistically designed dishes and a friendly staff. A great experience. My partner and I have gone twice, and both times enjoyed the meal. We didn't love the salmon but the spotted pig and gnocchi dishes more than make up for it. Give them a try for something different!"

  • "Elaine's is officially in the mix for our favorite restaurant. Interesting, delicious food, beautifully presented by an accommodating staff. What's not to love? Parking is probably the only downside. It's a popular area and you may have to search long and walk far. Leave yourself some extra time."

  • "Our dining experience was disappointing. Our courses took a long time. After ordering, the first course took about 25 minutes, the second also. By the time our main course came, I was frustrated. The main course took 30 minutes to arrive. The duck was cold and so was the fish. I was underwhelmed. Our salad course main ingredient was changed and we did not have the option to decline the change. It was served without telling us and my husband had to point this out to the server. She explained the change. I have been to many fine dining establishments around the world, this is not something that should have happened."

The chef is innovative and interesting without stepping over the line into "too cute for words."   • "First of all our server Marissa was of great help with the menu and wine choices actually steering us to a slightly less expensive Malbec that was perfect for our tastes. The lentil soup and she crab was very comparable to a rich mushroom soup and great earthy addition of truffles. OUr entrees were the pork belly in miso and tenderloin with foie gras. Both were rich and wonderful and as described and a match for any restaurant in the city and to many in Vegas or San Francisco. Our dessert was the chocolate torte that was OK but the guests at next table had a great candy bar and carrot cake so next time we go back and we will soon those will be choices. Happy to see new innovative food in Albuquerque"

  • "Very limited menu and out of several of the few things they had by 730 on a Saturday night. The remaining selections were very good to choose from. The restaurant is small, tight and hip. You can't help but watch others around you eating. It makes for an intimate dining experience with six or eight attractive people you don't know. But, you might want to get to know them. That's the kind of place it is. The wine list is better than average. The service was excellent. Knowledgeable, attentive, not overbearing. My date's tenderloin was perfect, or so she said. My scallops were very good. Crisp, hot and rich. Expensive. But worth it. Highly recommended."

  • "We went during restaurant week. The tuna 1st course tasted fine but was slimy, not my favorite fish texture. I love the Spotted Pig entree but it was quite fatty & my friends barely touched theirs. I thought my banana creme brulee was out-of-this-world, but the deconstructed bite-sized chunks of carrot cake scattered across the plate were too dry for my friend. A better selection of under $75 bottles of wine would be nice. I'm not racing back, but if great reviews pour in, I'll give Elaine's another try. We need adventurous creative chefs, but I want high end restaurants to be consistently fabulous to feel good springing for the $80+ per person tab."

  • "Elaine's is a total gem...both the person and her restaurant. The menu is thoughtful, the presentation lovely, the service warm and friendly and , most importantly, the food is fabulous. My dining companions and I ate at Elaine's during Restaurant Week. I have experienced plenty of these in other cities and been disappointed more often than not. This was not the case in anything we tasted. The salmon and albacore tuna were particularly delightful. The salads greens were fresh and the dressings light , but very flavorful. If you are in Albuquerque, do not miss this treat. I promise you a meal you will remember."

  • "My wife, parents, and I, recently ate at Elains, knowing it was a new spot, in the Nob Hill district. Urban Spoon rating was good, but only a few (27) votes. We each had different menu starters and entrees' , and all were good. The prices for food were decent for the portion size and preparation level. Nice atmosphere. Service was good although I couldn't tell you the waiters name, as he never introduced himself, no name tag either. I'd like to see some wine options less than 50-60 dollars, I'll spend that amount if I have to, but I prefer not to, and there's lots of options where you don't need to. We had a trio of the Trifolds deserts, and this was probably the most disappointing part of the meal, really nothing special, rather mundain."

  • "We started with the Duck Confit. The crispy duck was served over an omelet and was a nice touch. I had lamb and my wife had scallops...both very good. If you go try the gnocchi! Dessert was warm carrot cake and Elaine's candy bar. My favorite of the two was the cake but the candy bar is a chocoholic's dream. Atmosphere is very classy with great artwork and a cool vibe. Staff are all well trained and knowledgeable. Service was never slow nor was it rushed. Timing is everything with a meal like this and everything flowed very smoothly. Total bill including a bottle of wine was around $189.00 with tip. I have been to several Albuquerque restaurants where we paid much more for much less."

  • "The restaurant was too small and lacked privacy. My boyfriend and I went for the first time to celebrate valentines day one day early. The room was packed...uncomfortably so. You are lined up on a table to table with no more than one foot between your table and your neighbors. For us, this lacked romance and privacy. We could hear everything that our neighbors were saying. A real ambiance killer! The food was good, but over priced. The service was excellent. We have no problem spending more money on a special occasion dinner, but the ambience is a real deal breaker. I predict that Elains won't make it in Abq for long."

  • "My wife and I had dinner at Elaine's, and it was very good. The food was really well seasoned and otherwise done well, the space is nice, and the service was good. The pace of the meal was a bit slow, but that may have been the product of the waiter sensing that we were in no hurry. My only complaint was the coffee - not fresh; not even close. This is a weirdly common problem at otherwise good restaurants."

  • "I went to Elaine's w/ my boss and a client. Food and service were outstanding. However, the tables felt as though they were on top of each other. I could hear every word of the conversation the table next to is was having. Also, parking was not ideal; actually, there is no parking specifically for the restaurant. After looking for an available parking spot for 10 min, I had to park two blocks away which, in my opinion, is not well thought out for such an exceptional restaurant."

  • "We celebrated and early Valentine's date there last night. Parking was rough, even on a Tuesday night. The inside of the restaurant is just lovely. The lighting was was warm and interesting. The music they played was really great. More of a popular jazz. I guess had different expectations... it good but not to die for. We're not over anxious to ear there again. They have combinations of things that don't sound appetizing to us. The Scallops were big and perfectly cooked. But the Creme Fraise which is always good, melted into a disintegrating sauce so fast. Plus I was sorry to see it go. Every entree selection has something unappetizing about it. Little spotted pig made me want to be a vegetarian immediately!"

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant. Our waiter was amazing, very knowledgeable and helpful with wine pairings. I had the spotted black pig, which was truly incredible and a must try if you go to Elaine's. Not a bad note in the whole meal, appetizers were tuna crudo and duck confit. Also DELICIOUS!"

  • "First time there. Got a great table up front and watched central ave characters. Two of us had the pork and one had the scallops. Started with the tuna appetizer and it was spectacular. Salad is unique. Great tastes explode in your mouth. Lentil soup with crab—unparalleled. All the entrees were great. Could not do dessert but would have done the choc tort. My coffee cup was never empty until I asked waitress to stop. Water same. Dishes cleared quickly and quietly. There's a fine line between good service and intrusive. This woman knew what she was doing. Wish I remembered her name. Suggestion: add a great artisan bread while menu gazing."
