Reasonably priced and our server was attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. A lovely dessert with a candle for the joint birthdays of our wives was a very nice treat. We were greeted at the door by friendly hostesses that were very personal and fun. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the food menu and drinks. We ordered the crab guac and chicken enchiladas which were very tastey. We started with the traditional guacamole & chips and pitcher of El Vez Margaritas...both fresh & delicious. For entrees my wife had the grilled beef tacos & I had the crispy Mahi-Mahi tacos w/side of rice & black beans. Both were delicious w/ nice presentations. The food is amazing. You can't pass on their signature homemade guacamole. There are several varieties to pick from and since it is made fresh to order you can even customize your selection. The margaritas were some of the best I have ever had and made using real fruit juices. There is something for everyone when it comes to entrees and several selections were you get to sample mutliple items. I tried the taco tasting platter which had a smaller version of all 5 of their taco varities. All I can say is AMAZING and I would order it again. This is a Mexican restaurant so if you don't really adore that style then don't go here. However if you like Mexican food then you will enjoy this place. The atmosphere is very vibrant it's sort of like a club. The guacamole is amazing and they have so many different styles. The menu doesn't mention it but you can order a sampler which allows you to choose three different styles for one price. You should do this because it gives you the chance to try a variety. You can't go wrong all of them are amazing. The taco sampler is also the way to go this way you find out what you like most. The fried chicken was just divine. The table side guac is absolutely essential -- they are all great, but I had the one with jumbo lump crab last time and it was amazing! Had their mahi mahi fish tacos, great portion, fried nicely but not at all greasy. Also had their grilled shrimp with a crab tamale and omg, the tamale was the best thing I've ever eaten. Got the churro for dessert and basically made my week.
The wait staff were not just quick and efficient, but friendly as well!

Making a reservation was easy though when our timing changed the choices were slim. We got there slightly early and were told our table was not yet ready. Right on time the hostess came over and seated us. The menu was varied with many good looking choices. We each found something that sounded good I had the special and my wife had pork tacos. Both main courses were more appetizer sized but excellent. The size of the portions was the only negative about the food. The only other warning would be that the volume was so loud that we had to yell at each other to be heard. The atmosphere is kitchy-fun, the food is outstanding (particularly the guacamole!) and the wait staff is always great, only enhancing the experience. This last trip to El Vez was with my girlfriends before we headed to the Maroon 5 concert and I couldn't think of a better way to start our night...great time!
