Diner Reviews
  • "Great service. Nice Decor. Food was Superb. Restaurant week menu provided good options. The tamale was excellent."

  • "The drinks were delicious and worth the price, however the food was very overpriced for what you got. The food was good but you can get it elsewhere for much less. Outdoor seating was nice."

  • "The food was mediocre but the drink was good. The waitress was decent. Overall experience was fair but could have been better"

  • "Abbiamo visitato il locale in occasione delle Week day e ci siamo trovati molto bene, vivace l'ambiente, ottimo il cibo. Fantastici i dolci."

  • "We sat outside, which ended up being a great choice on a beautiful evening because it was dark and somewhat loud inside. We split the queso fundito, which was delicious, and each got tacos which we both loved. Very nice, great service, gorgeous neighborhood."

  • "Had a great birthday dinner here with friends. We shared the guacamole and queso to start, which were tasty, but the highlight was the tasty dessert they served me complete with a sombrero plopped on my head. The interior is modern/trendy and overall really liked the place."

  • "...you'll love El Toro Blanco. Best Chile Rubbed Mango Margarita, Lobster Ceviche and Escuela Vieja Tacos. And then there's Chef Josh Capon of SpikeTV's Frankenfood. Cheerful, Talented...A Culinary Superstar!"

  • "We Sat outside Drinks, Food and Service was both as advertised...Very Good !"

  • "Great food, great service, great outdoor dining. Once made a reservation for 9:15 and didn't get seated until 10:15, so there is that."

  • "Really enjoyed everything about this place from the interior to the service to the food. Took two family members here for a birthday and had a blast. Tacos were incredible."

  • "This was my third visit to El Toro Blanco and I continue to enjoy the uniqueness of the Mexican menu items. They have amazing cocktails, terrific ceviche, fresh flavorful guacamole, fish tacos, tamales, you name it, it's on offer. The restaurant also offers a weekday prix fixe menu including an appetizer and entree. The service is attentive without being intrusive and the staff is knowledgeable. So if you want to explore the cuisine of Mexico, run over to El Toro Blanco and enjoy!"

  • "I've been to El Toro on many occasions. I went with friends and I went on a date. Very great experience and atmosphere. I recommend the guac, the mango habanero margarita, and Mexican street corn."

  • "We ordered a few plates and shared everything. Things show up in any order so we just are as it showed up and ordered more as we needed it. Dessert was extremely tasty as well"

  • "I've been there several times, have enjoyed the drinks and food - as well as the service. A waiter saw me using my fork to put hot sauce on chips and brought over spoons. Eating outside is preferable for me as the noise level is not to my liking."

  • "Very extensive Tequila menu and the staff was helpful in making choices. "

  • "I have eaten here on a good number of occasions and it's always a fun experience with great food, delicious cocktails and intelligent staff. Not to mention the guacamole!"

  • "Sexy environment, but flavor in tacos was lacking."

  • "Im not a Mexican food critic, don't eat it often enough. Went with a friend who is and wanted real non-Dos Caminos style. I enjoyed everything they served, and my friend the expert vouched for its authenticity. So very good food and ambience. Cute restaurant. Enjoy!"

  • "We ordered guacamole that never came. Iced tea took 45 mins to arrive. Water was only refilled once. Our server never came by to check on us. And all we got was a lame apology and no attempt to make up for it at the end. Food was tasty but far too overpriced for the portion size and quality, particularly given that other "upscale" Mexican restaurants in the area are better at a lower price point. However, the patio was gorgeous and the margarita strong. "

  • "Josh Capon has done it again! Great food and great drinks, all with great service. If you're craving food from south of the border, but with a creative flair, this place is it. "

  • "The salsa and chips were better than most high end mexican places. The spicy mango magarita was delicious! We had the guacamole, tuna ceviche, queso fundito, short rib empananas, and the fish tacos and all of it was good. The tacos are very small. The place is a little pricey but I still loved it. "

  • "The layout & decor of the restaurant was inviting - The staff was warm and friendly. Our server was informative - good personality - and never left us hanging! The bartender was friendly. The food was spectacular (creative versions of empanadas, tacos, enchiladas, guacamole). The price points were good - appetizers vs entrees. I went with a group of 5 friends and everyone enjoyed El Toro Blanco. I am taking my boyfriend here soon."

  • "Came here for dinner last weekend. Everything on the menu looked amazing, but we ended up going with guacamole to start and the scallops, shrimp, and enchiladas for the mains. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for delicious and interesting Mexican food at a trendy (yet unpretentious) spot! Can't wait to come back and try the brunch as well as the tacos!!"

  • "Our experience started by having to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Our waitress got distracted by other servers dancing around in the bar and never returned after taking our appetizer and drink order. This put us at the mercy of food runners for any service. In the end we had to get up to grab a manager so we could get a check in order to go to another restaurant to complete our meal. The food we did have was fine, but it was the worst service experience I have ever had. I will say that once the manager was informed he was very helpful and nice."

  • "We booked a 5person table at 7pm on a saturday for my dad's 60th birthday. After arriving half an hour early, the hostess worked to seat us immediately (thanks!). We started with the large guacamole, with 3 salsas and bottomless bowls of chips. The open face quesadilla was a hit, served on a pizza tray and balanced by strips of mild chile and creamy cheese. Tacos were small (2 tiny soft corn tortillas) but well constructed, including octopus, stewed chicken and shrimp varieties, and the chicken enchiladas offered a more substantial plate. Drinks were a bit pricey, and the michelada was too smoky, but the wine was reasonable and the overall experience was a delight, including the attentive service."

  • "I've been here a couple of times on lunch dates, and loved it both times. The food is spectacular (coming from someone who doesn't usually love Spanish food). The restaurant itself is really nice too. The service is good too. The waiter who helped us the first time was super awesome. I don't know his name but he responded well to a weird request we had, also did the desert bday candle thing. The woman the last time was good. Drinks took a little while to come out to us. But other than that she was really nice and on the ball. I know I'll be back again soon."

  • "We were visiting Coral Gables for the weekend, and this was a truly spectacular find! The food is reasonably priced and excellent quality! The service was perfect. The atmosphere is great - the lighting, decor, ample room to move around, views of the kitchen, all is ideal. We will definitely return and highly recommend this to anyone out there"

  • "Très belle adresse, cocktails de qualités, taco's de folie. Très bon service et bonne ambiance. Beaucoup de monde, réservation obligatoire."

  • "I will definitely be back once it gets warmer out to drink ALL the chile-rubbed mango margaritas I can handle. Other than that, I wasn't blown away by the food. Everything was good, but not amazing. The drinks though- THEY were the best."

  • "Classic Mexican dishes with foodie twists. The charred octopus tacos were incredible, as we're the lobster tacos but the sweet and delicious tamales really surprised me, as did the flavorful and yet understated tres leches desert. Delicious! Don't even get me started on what appears to be the largest selection of tequilas - and rare tequilas - in NYC. Well played, sir, well played!"

  • "great food! i love mexican food but nothing is worse than when the food is too heavy or greasy. Each dish we ordered was very well prepared, light, and (most importantly) very flavorful."
