  • "Really enjoyed this place, we live in the neighborhood and only recently tried. Tapas is very much my style and I loved the decor of the restaurant. The food was good, and the waiters were nice. Looking forward to going back!"

  • "Attended date dinner Friday night at El Porron. The menu provides numerous options for tasty Tapas dishes, wine tasting and sangria. Impeccable service, comforting ambiance and fantastic food preparation. My date and I turned a two hour dinner into a four hour conversation...not one hassle from staff to end the night (despite heavy turnover around us). Very attentive throughout the evening. Yes, our gratuity reflected such appreciation...great evening. Will most definitely return."

  • "Everything was amazing from the sangria, to the chicken croquettes, to the shrimp entree dinner I got. I loved it and will definitely be back! Even Chef G came out to say hello :) it was a great experience!"

  • "Had a light bite with a two other friends. We didn't eat or drink much, but we were treated like we were big spenders! Service was gracious and we weren't rushed - something I really appreciated. The best of our three tapas was the Chorizo - so flavorful with just a touch of heat. Manchego and scallops rounded out our choices. Both were very nice. We ordered churros and torrijas for dessert. I found the torrijas soggy but the churros with their chocolate dipping sauce were very good. I would return to this restaurant and recommend it to others."

  • "Having lived in Spain, I know how great tapas can be, and it irks me when other restaurants bill themselves as tapas restaurants, when it is basically small Plates at a very high price. This is the real thing, And what I would expect of a well-heeled tapas Bar."

  • "nice staff. diverse menu. eight tapas were all winners. We will be back for more."

  • "I absolutely adored this place! It was so up to par especially being Half Hispanic, you are born a critic to Spanish food. Honestly speaking the food was waaayyyy better then I expected, what was written on the menu was what you received & it was very flavorful & fresh. The service well.. They chit chat amongst eachother a lot but the food is so well made you might not notice! It is a bit on the pricey side so if you come in groups be prepared!"

  • "Love this place and it's food. Waiter was either over worked or simply not on his game. Once initial orders were placed we never saw him again. Thankfully the manager stepped in and took over covering our table. He saved the evening for us!"

  • "Came here for Valentine's Day dinner with my husband. The service was excellent and the food even better. We had pulpo, steak empanada and shared a paella. All of it was mouth watering. Drinks were good as well. Definitely recommend this place."

  • "I am not often in the UES and was relieved to find a restaurant open for a late supper (11PM). The tapas were perfect. I particularly loved the special steak empanada which was cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the chicken croquettes. I only wish there were more of them! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was mellow which was a relief on a Friday night. We didn't want a noisy bar atmosphere. El Perron is worth trekking uptown. I would like to return on my next girls night out."

  • "My wife and I were visiting NYC for a weekend break, we were staying at the Bentley Hotel and El Porron is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. We are regular visitors to Spain and really enjoy tapas but these were without a doubt the best we ever had. The food was lovely, the dishes were served in the correct order, the staff were very friendly. traditional decor with a twist and if was not for the snow we could have been in Andalucía. Next time we are in Manhattan we will be going back and I cant give a better recommendation than that."

  • "Excellent wines and food. Sweetbreads, baby squid, sea scallops and braised tripe / pigs foot stew- all excellent. Would have preferred a chewier baguette... The one served was a bit dry and also did not have much crust. Service efficient and courteous. Definitely would go back"

  • "El Porron is ideal for people who want to share tapas. For those who don't, there are some lovely main course selections. The vegetable paella is excellent. Sangria comes red or white and is as good as one gets in Spain!"

  • "I truly enjoyed my experience at El Porron this past Saturday night! I loved what we ordered - the traditional Paella was yummy and the Spinach croquette tapas was great too! We also celebrated with the cava rose sangria that was fabulous! Decor is lovely and our table in the corner ( in the front of the place) was good for conversation. I am looking forward to returning and trying some more of the dishes!!"

  • "A very nice room with friendly service. The tapas selection is large and varied. This time we had sweetbreads, tuna and shrimp accompanied by a pitcher of red sangria. Everything was wonderful. The one problem was the noisy rumble that could not be ignored--they claim it's being fixed."
    Dined on 11/3/2013
  • "Love the food but they did an odd thing: they gave us a table in the bar area which was ok (we had 2 children) but sort of cheating..I was under the impression that those tables were for walk ins not for those with reservations. While the tapas are delicious, the menu needs an update."
