We chose to go to El Monte to celebrate our anniversary. We experienced great service from the minute we walked in. Our server was great and very accommodating. The food was excellent! They are also accommodating for people with food sensitivities. They have unique food selection and fresh food. Guacamole is particularly yummy!

We have been to El Monte 4 times since it opened several years ago. The first time we went it was great. However, every time since the food and service get progressively worse. The occasion was my husband's birthday. The girl that was serving us was never around. We asked for chips and she brought us water. We had to remind her that we needed chips. We can't eat guac unless we have a vessel. The food took a while to come to us as well. I had the seafood stuffed poblano that the waitress had said everyone wanted back on the menu. It was very salty. It took forever for the waitress to remove our plates and by that time we skipped dessert and just asked for the check. Sadly, our family will not be dining at El Monte again.

  • Unique among Mexican food offerings

We went here to celebrate a special occasion and were pleased with the food and service. The food was unique-- not a typical Mexican menu. The skirt steak and enchiladas were excellent. But the best was the poblano relleno stuffed with seafood! Perhaps the least favorite was our appetizer of guacomole. It lacked any flavor other than mashed avocados. The coin and OAXACAN Margs were a standout for drink specials. The mojito was far too sweet for our taste. Flan for dessert was excellent. Next time we are in the Fort, we'll be here!

Went there with family, one had chx mole', another seafood relleno and I had a dish whose name I could neither pronounce or remember, but it was slow cooked pork wrapped in banana leaf with habanero sauce. All dishes were good, as was the guar, salsa and chips. Drinks good and reasonably-priced. This is not your typical mexican restaurant fare, more native Mexican and Latin-infused dishes. They make their guac and corn tortillas (no flour is served) on site. Very reasonable for a night out involving good food and drinks.

  • Good food, poor execution
    JJPBVIP
    Dined on 5/17/2014
They get by with good quality food, but the chefs just can't execute the dishes. I've given them a lot of chances since my family likes to here, but the food is always hit-or-miss. I prefer my steak medium-rare (like actually medium-rare) but since they always overcook it I figured I would order it rare on my last visit - it was served medium-medium well. That's a gap that is unforgivable. To top it off my relleno, which is usually pretty good, was burnt to a crisp, and my veggies were half cooked on one side. If you end up here, stick to the guac, and order a ceviche, which are both usually really good (the less the kitchen does the better). Until they get some standards in their kitchen I won't be back.

The for was very fresh, but did offer many of the typical menu items you might expect in a Mexican restaurant. The guacamole was amazing however and you are able to customize the ingredients to your taste. There are no flour tortillas, everything is made from corn. No burritos either. I'm not complaining, it was good but don't go there expecting the typical experience.

It never ceases to amaze me, Fort Collins has some of the worst dining one can imagine. The El Monte is good. That is all. Why not take a minute to make sure my table is ready for the dishes you are about to serve...making me hold appetizer plates out of the way, while you try to set down my entree, which you also make me set down myself. Ridiculous. When I am done eating....clear the table, quickly! How about some garnish or a vegetable or something besides my skinny little enchiladas and 2 tablespoons of rice and beans. Don't hover around asking me 5 or 6 times if my food was good. If the food didn't taste pretty good and there was no Esteban...I would not go back.

I've been wanting to go to El Monte Grill for some time. My husband doesn't really care for Mexican food, but this was my pick for Mother's Day. Wow, we were both very pleasantly surprised! I would refer to this as gourmet Mexican food. The dishes were very flavorful and unique...wonderful sauces used in moderation. Everything was cooked perfectly. Outstanding salsas! Nex time, I will try the guacamole, which appears to be their speciality. I love that you can customize the guacamole...great idea! The margaritas were excellent and not the kind that cause you to be too tipsy (we only had one each). We will definitely be back. What a wonderful hidden gem!!!

We made reservations and part of our party came early and they had no problem seating us early. There was a sticky spot on the table and the waitress took care of that quickly and got our drinks. The service was good and at the right speed for myself, but others said it was a bit slow, although our appetizers came quickly but I didn't feel the tamales had much flavor or were hot enough. The drinks are very good and somewhat different than your usual fare with variety of Mezcals. The entrees were very delicious and it was nice to find Mexican food of a different region of Mexico being served authentically. Different dishes got mixed reviews from the diners but overall we enjoyed ourselves.

This is the third time dining at El Monte. The food and waiters are always great. My favorite entree is the Quinoa Relleno...creative and delicious. The guacamole is also very good. My only reservation about El Monte is the very arrogant attitude of the 2-3 hostesses. No matter how far in advance I make a reservation, they seek out and try to seat us at the WORST tables in the restaurant--even when they are not particularly busy.

I made a reservation and was a little early. While I was happy to be seated immediately, even though my entire party wasn't there yet, I received no service whatsoever, until additional party members arrived. I was not even offered a water or other drink or something to nibble while I was waiting. Once our waiter acknowledged us and began serving us, service was fine, but the initial wait was highly annoying.

I dined at El Monte twice this week at dinnertime as part of an interview. Everything was perfect both nights. The build-your-own guacamole was top notch as usual. The salsas were delicious, with just the right amount of kick, and the drinks were wonderful. All of the food was superb, and the service was great. It's the perfect place if a company or organization wants to show visitors what nice restaurants Fort Collins has to offer.

We visit Fort Collins frequently and are always looking for something different, especially when it comes to Mexican. This is definitely a spot we'll try again. We've only eaten here once, but we were very impressed by the menu - it isn't your typical enchiladas and chimichangas. They really make an effort to provide something that you won't find in every typical Mexican restaurant. The servers were great. Margaritas were really good. And the atmosphere was just right.

Food was still good but nothing compared to how it used to be a few years ago. I tend to recommend this restaurant to friends because I am picky and enjoy real dinning experience. However the past 2 times I had dinner at your place, the food presentation and creativity was way below what I experienced in the past… Hope you can make some improvement because I am not sure I want to return again.

The service was very attentive (although our waiter couldn't pronounce any Mexican names properly). We were a bit disappointed to sit it the "banquet area" (a back room), but the food was amazing.
