The tableside service was excellent, including the made at the table Ceasar, and the flaming tenderloin sword. Treated us very well. The restaurant was beautiful in a cozy location in downtown Bellevue. We even got a request in to the live pianist who played "our song" for us :-).6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely ExperienceI was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it; I thought perhaps I'd be scornful of the chichi-ness of a restaurant of this caliber but no. The high ceilings, subtle décor, and open space filled with light was inviting and un pretentious (not to mention the slob scarfing down a $75 steak on the patio in shorts, wife beater, and sandals).
We ordered the Chateaubriand and this may sound odd but I felt it was a GREAT value. It came with vegetables, we each got a side, and both had soup to start. Finished off with a burnt crème dessert and it was $200. How's that a value, you ask? The portions were generous and we've had filet leftovers 3 days in a row. Tell me now that $200 for 3 filet dinners isn't a good value? And meltaway delicious.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a disappointment...A friend and I came in for lunch to celebrate our birthdays. We were greeted with birthday cards at the table signed by the staff which was a nice touch! We asked to change tables as we were seated near/facing the kitchen but our server, Justin, quickly and graciously moved us to a great table. Service was excellent, as we've come to expect at El Gaucho. Servers met our every need and request but were not intrusive. They surprised us with birthday desserts (a sampler of bread pudding, cheesecake and a strawberry with candle!) which was also sweet. The food was very good as usual although they weren't able to find black tea for us (only herbal). Lunch is very affordable and nice selection from soup to steak. The Peppercorn NY was grilled to perfection, succulent. My wife is a vegetarian, and was pleasantly surprised to find out El Gaucho had several entree offerings - not just sides. She thought their grilled tofu dish was excellent. The sautéed spinach side was gone quickly! Wide variety of wines, all fairly expensive. Classic dessert - Crème Brulee was outstanding: smooth, creamy with an almost buttery element. We were greeted at least a half a dozen times. Our table was decorated with rose petals and a card signed by the staff wishing us a Happy Anniversary. We loved the ambiance. Our waiter Dominick was superb and the food was delicious. The piano player was wonderful, she was extremely talented and her music made our experience even more enjoyable. Hers was excellent, mine just good but not great. My steak was charred on the outside, which gave each bite a burnt taste. Table side showmanship with flaming entrees and desserts super fun. And of course the food is just fabulous. Pretty expensive by conventional standards, but well worth it for special occasions or just a treat for yourself. The service was outstanding lots of team work being used such as if our waiter was pre-occupied at another table his co-worker would check in with us fill our drinks, bring more bread, or just overall check in with us. There wasn't a time where we weren't helped.
The food was amazing I highly recommend getting anything with Dungeness crab was the best I have had in years!
The most amazing thing they did was after our dinner they provide a plate of special cheeses, fruit and crackers.

El Gaucho has the dark old school steakhouse feel to it ,servers and staff are in black tux or equivalent . Very attentive but never rushed allows for a relaxed and personal dinning experience . The food was generous and outstanding with appealing presentation .
We traveled 2hrs to get there for a special celebration and were not disappointed and will always put El Gaucho on our list of must return to dining spots.

My wife and our friend had the filet and I had the New York Bone in. We were all pleased, We had the lobster mashed potatoes and the broccoli. We really couldn't tell if there were any pieces of lobster in the mashed potatoes and the expected seafood flavour was mild. The bread was very good.
