The view is beautiful but the Sunday Brunch is too expensive for what you get. Too many unordered appetizers and ordinary entrees. I wanted to order from the lunch menu but was told they only serve brunch, then the next table ordered from the lunch menu???? The host approached our table interrupted our conversation and proceeded to tell us how to cook the duck confit not what we were there for, not what we wanted to know. Overall a so so, expensive experience except for the view.

We enjoyed the ambiance and the view - a relaxing place which felt like home. My family would definitely like to return for lunch or dinner. Brunch was delicious, served by friendly staff- in a timely manner! The smoked Salmon, Ahi Tuna salad and the prawns were our favorites starters. The Veal while not as tender had big flavors. The roasted Salmon was fresh well seasoned.

If you are looking for a great breakfast, lunch or dinner with a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean, this is your place. The hotel restaurant,El canto, has an internal dining room, a semi-enclosed patio and an open patio--all with a view of the Pacific. The food is very good--but pricey--and the service is first rate. Best idea--grad a cocktail on the patio and watch the sun set.

We had drinks on the terrace in very comfortable seating, although I needed a couple of pillows when seated on the sofa to be able to sit up straight!! The piano initially was quiet and in the backgroundThen a singer arrived, and although he was very good, we were seated right in front of the speakers, and it was too loud. It was hard to have a conversation. That was the only flaw to a marvelous evening. We were moved to our table in the dining room with a gentle nudge - and we never felt rushed or hovered over. The food and service were impeccable. We were celebrating a friend's retirement, and they were suitably impressed with the lovely venue and food. We will definitely come again. Just don't sit in front of the piano!!

Many visits to Santa Barbara, and this time for ten days at Padaro Sands Beach House, but this was our first experience at El Encanto. Our lunch was perfectly lovely, tasty, and the service was pampering and accessible but not hovering. The patio dining is so lush and special, surrounded by beautiful landscaping and far view of the Pacific ocean. At sunset, this is the place to be for cocktails and dinner. The menu has many light and seasonal choices, wines by the glass are not hugely expensive and well selected. Definitely this special spot should be on everyone's itinerary. We will definitely return for another goodbye for now Santa Barbara luncheon when we stay at Padaro Beach.

We took our visiting East Coast relatives to El Encanto for dinner. We choose this restaurant because of the lovely sunsets and the gorgeous scenic views of the Santa Barbara coastline. None of us were disappointed! We had a lovely table on the outside terrace and when the sun went down, the staff was quick to exchange the umbrellas for the heaters. Our meal was lovely, although 2 in our party had to send their plates back because their food was cold. But they were soon replaced with new, hot plates of food...only a minor issue. Our meals were delicious and no one had any complaints. Portions are relatively small but enough to fill everyone up. We would definitely return!!

First: the setting is pure heaven. The staff diligent. Food splendid, though my scallop dish was so over-salted I had to send it back. Second attempt was perfect. Biggest issue was the horrid music blasting from a speaker in a plant near our table. In a setting like this loud thumping music is an offense. The staff seemed helpless to correct it and it made it hard to talk. Dinner music should be soft and lilting not a thumping ordeal. Yes, it came close to spoiling an otherwise (dare I say?) happy meal.

My party of four was treated to a wonderful dining experience at El Encanto. We had read about the place in our Sunset Magazine and even though my sister lives very close they had not be up to visit seen it reopened. The chef surprised us with a Salmon appetizer wrapped around twice baked fried potato bites that was out of this world. My party had fillets and a New York strip and seafood main courses were magnificent. We had veggies and risotto and they were all great also. The Conn Creek Cab was great and the chocolate truffles were a real treat. We also had ice cream with berries that were fantastic. I would recommend El Encanto. Up on the hillside the view was super and we caught a beautiful night out on the deck for dining.

We are part time Santa Barbara residents and we make it a point of every visit to have a meal at El Encanto. We always ask to be seated on the deck (ask for a heater if it is chilly) as the view and ambience are out-of-this-world. The menu is constantly changing and is consistently outstanding! El Encanto has our vote for best restaurant in Santa Barbara, both for food and setting.

We had dinner at this restaurant on Oct 3 (Fri), on our honeymoon trip in California. After more than 10 days dining in high rated restaurants, El Encanto was the best dinner. Not only for the food (we had been in several michelin starred restaurants the previous days), but the entire experience was outstanding! First, we had an outdoor table and the beauty of sunset view at 7pm is hard to describe. Second, the service was impecable, with most attentive waiters. Third, the food was great. Fourth, the wine list has an extensive selection of wine in any price range. Last, but not the least, the music! They had a piano player and a singer that are just incrediblle! We felt like listening to Frank Sinatra live in a movie from the 80s....

The El Encanto boasts a wonderful view and patio. Service is pleasant, but a bit intrusive. Our fifth experience left much to be desired in terms of food. We arrived early on Sunday to enjoy breakfast catching up with an old friend hoping the food would match the rest of the El Encanto experience; we were disappointed. Our breakfast invitee's Eggs Benedict were served on greasy bread with slices of bacon strewn on the plate. The Huevos Rancheros were completely lacking in flavor (even with the "extra salsa"): two eggs, a spoon of sour cream and black beans, one! small dry and cold corn tortilla and a quarter of an avocado. We ordered the pastry basket as we were still hungry -- neither of us are hearty eaters, so that is saying a lot.

The food was good, the servers were very nice and friendly but got orders wrong and served food out of sequence. Dishes were not cleared fron table until we asked, managers and other servers walked by and did nothing. Oysters at lunch were room temperature, and half could not be eaten. The steaks at dinner were outstanding. The singer in the bar after dinner was great (Angie). However service in the bar was also bad. Beautiful dining room and terrace; the view and grounds and setting make it all worthwhile, but one wishes that for the high prices, the service could be better.

This is my favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara! I'm in SB 2 times a week and I have to visit at least twice a month, usually for lunch. The service is fantastic, the food is fresh and simple with great taste. The most spectacular view of Santa Barbara and the sea! The setting is perfect for a quiet and breathtaking afternoon or for a group party. From the moment you pull into the courtyard driveway, you feel like you are in a place far away and everyone makes you feel welcome. I can't wait to be back!

El Encanto is such an incredibly beautiful setting. The renovation is magnificent!!!! I could sit out on the patio all day long!! Have not been there for dinner but the dining room is elegantly beautiful and I'm certain the quality and presentation of the food and the five star service is the same as I have experienced on the patio at lunch!! While this is a wonderful (and pricy) special occasion destination, I think everyone should just go ahead and splurge at least once for the experience. The complimentary "birthday" Bellini was sensational and a much appreciated surprise!! Our guests raved about the Fish & Chips made from fresh halibut and my salmon with artichoke ratatouille was it die for!!!

We ate early on a Thursday. We shared the spectacular view with 2 other diners. The service was outstanding. The food just as good. The 2 standouts of the evening were the hamachi and creamed corn. I had the short ribs which were very good. My sister had the seafood special. It was also very good. Dessert was good not excellent. We split the panna cota. Overall I would rate this a 10!

El Encanto is tucked into a residential area which makes it a little hard to find the first time but worth the effort. It is an elegant spot. The dining terrace has a majestic ocean view. Our waiters were attentive (although once it got crowded this changed a bit). The food was terrific from the heirloom tomato salad to the local fish specials to the beautiful and delicious floating island and spicy molten chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream. We will definitely return.

    Dined on 8/26/2014
I have been in this place several times now. Lunch and dinner and just for drinks. The wine list is good. The food on the menu looks good, but, not tasty at all. Seared tuna salad is very plain..so is risotto. There is room for improvement and I hope it will be done soon so I can come back and enjoy beautiful space...
